The hotel is in a convenient location - just a 15 minute or so walk away from Ortigia and close to the bus and train station. We had originally booked a standard room, but something happened and we were upgraded to a junior suite. The room was on the first floor (not ground floor) and was quiet. Having the extra sitting space was quite nice to be able to put our things out. The bathroom was nice but slightly awkward bc the bathroom door and wall were made out of opaque glass. Which, as you can imagine, can be slightly awkward when a mother and daughter are sharing a room. I know this isn’t the staff’s issue though. But, all I am saying is that sometimes people prefer functionally over something that feels ultra modern. Breakfast was a spread of pastries, fruit, breads, and small sandwiches. You also had the opportunity to order eggs. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Siracusa is a beautiful town to spend a few days in.

Amzing staff, very nice rooms and a great chef also preparing bfast daily with daily changes not to make it boring. Easy free parking around, quite and not far from Ortigia (5-7min) to get to the bridge. The chef came with a small tart and candle at breakfast for my birthday, how sweet is that :). Thank you chef. Also thank you Valentina you are an amazing host, helpful and genuinely caring. Boss give her a raise ;)
Marina del Rey, California 124104 Great Location, but Beware the Heat and Heavy Scents Review of Caportigia Boutique Hotel Pending review Reviewed Caportigia is in a fantastic spot—very walkable to Ortigia Island and surrounded by good restaurants. A huge plus was the easy street parking, so we didn't have to pay for a garage. The staff was also very friendly. However, the stay was difficult for a few reasons. The AC was a major issue; they had already switched to heat, and it was impossible to cool the room down. As a pre-menopausal woman, being stuck in a hot room was miserable. Since I couldn't use the AC, I had to open the windows, but then I got eaten alive by mosquitoes (and I’m severely allergic). After begging, they finally got me a portable fan to use and turned off the heat in my room. On top of that, the room scent was overwhelming—think an entire bottle of men’s cologne. It was so strong my eyes watered. When I asked about it, they just told me to put the reed diffuser outside, which felt pretty dismissive of guests with allergies. Between the uncomfortable beds, the street noise, and my friend finding ants in their room, I was glad we were only there for two nights.
This is a 5-star hotel in name only. The service was far below that standard and, at times, outright rude. There was no water supply at night, so we couldn’t shower and could barely brush our teeth. The heater also stopped working overnight, which made it very uncomfortable to sleep and affected our condition for the next day’s schedule. At checkout, instead of an apology, the staff immediately mentioned extra charges with an unfriendly attitude and simply said the issue was “a district problem,” as if that excused everything. We were not asking for compensation—just a polite apology would have been appropriate. Additionally, when we asked the staff to make a phone call to a local shop because we don’t speak Italian, we were told, again rudely, to call ourselves if we didn’t trust them. This was a very unpleasant experience and not what one would expect from a 5-star hotel.
The only thing worth the while here is the restaurant and the waiter that served breakfast. Really good scrambled eggs. Otherwise, the experience we had was not so good. Room service always washes your towels no matter if you leave them hanging, they’ll change them, as well as the toilet paper even if you had barely used it (ironically it was one of those brown wannabe eco-friendly types). Also we wanted to have a drink for christmas eve in the lobby and they didn’t have a place for us so they invited us to stay next to the elevators and in front of a huge screen with a promotional video of the restaurant in front of us in loop. Dantesque. Then we forgot a phone charger in the room and apparently it disappeared and they insisted it wasn’t there. So, my recommendation, find another place to stay.
