Zhujiajiao Water Town Tour From Shanghai With Boat Ride Option

Jan gave us a wonderful tour with stories of the history of the area and details of Chinese life and beliefs. He was funny, entertaining and open to explore. Great trip.

This was a wonderful trip around the old town and canals. We had our own personal driver to the town which is an hour out of Shanghai centre and the luxury made that comfortable. We had an unexpected tea tasting session which was really good fun.

Had the best tour guide Robert showing me around, he was very informative and friendly. Getting there was easy, not to much hassle and operator was helpful in being flexible with timings. 10/10 would recc

Had the best experience with Maisie, I was travelling on my own and she took me on a beautiful guided tour through the water town. We went through the gardens, had great pictures, boat ride, tea ceremony and shopping! She even helped me pick out a delicious rice dumpling snack. I felt very comfortable, she was incredibly welcoming, friendly and kind. Thank you Maisie for such a lovely tour, you’ve made my first day in Shanghai a huge success!

We had a wonderful tour from Shanghai to Zhujiajiao with our guide, Michael. He was excellent—kind, thoughtful, and very attentive in making sure we were comfortable, doing well, and enjoying our time. He spoke English very well and shared a great deal of useful information from the moment he picked us up at the hotel. He provided interesting historical facts about Shanghai and showed deep knowledge of Zhujiajiao’s history and culture. In Zhujiajiao, we visited a beautiful garden, where Michael explained many fascinating details about the architecture and history of the place. We also enjoyed a delightful boat ride, which was one of the highlights of the tour. All in all, this was a great experience. Michael made the tour both informative and enjoyable. I strongly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Shanghai who wants to experience the beauty, history, and charm of Zhujiajiao.

The tour of Zhujiajiao was very interesting. The place is full of historical, architectural, and gastronomic experiences. The guide, Linda, besides being extremely kind, explained details about the history of the place, which greatly enriched the experience. I highly recommend the tour and I also highly recommend Linda as a guide.

I would give this whole tour a 5* rating! Our guide Yun was great! She was very knowledgeable, friendly, fun and gave us a great cultural experience. She went above and beyond our expectations!! The experience was fantastic, I leaned about the culture with Maisie. She was very kind , professional, and patiently. She told me about the water pearls. The timing was perfect coordinated for me to be on time at the airport.

Had a great water town private tour with Cassie! She led us around the town very efficiently, stopping to explain things along the way as we went. Introduced us to some very tasty local food and the small boat ride gave us a lovely view of the town from the water. The vehicle was comfortable and the driver was good. Would highly recommend!

This particular trip with our tour guide Yun, was very enjoyable and informative. Our guide spoke excellent English, was personable, and spent plenty of time showing and explaining this very picturesque and ancient town to our group. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who plans to visit China and wants a fun and educational view of an adorable working town. Worth the drive from Shanghai. Definitely take the boat ride. Annie was absolutely wonderful with her nuggets of information and her charming nature. We loved the time spent at the water village. It was windy so boating was closed but we filled it up with touring the street shops and sampling the delicacies. Absolutely must recommend.

What stood out most was his generosity and genuine desire to make our day special. We felt truly cared for throughout the tour. The town is beautiful, worth going to. The garden is honestly a better, less crowded version of Yuyuan, peaceful and a great place to take pics. Robert, our tour guide, was very friendly and helpful

I loved this tour of Zhujiajiao. This ancient water town is so beautiful and i enjoyed the boat ride too. My tour guide Robert was amazing. The tour was amazing! We’ve spent time in Beijing and Shanghai so it was such a nice change to see a Water Village. We had perfect weather for the boat ride, and enjoyed the shops and the gardens. Lea was a wonderful tour guide, very informed and thoughtful in her presentation.

You will know about zhujiajao village and yoi will explor the garden and have aride in the boat you will have great time specially with cassie our guide in the trip she is helpful and we had great time in the trip i recommend to try it

I had a lovely afternoon in Zhujiajiao Water Town. It's a beautiful and peaceful village that truly feels like stepping back in time. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing, and it was a joy to wander through the charming streets and over the ancient bridges. Lucy was a fantastic guide — her English is excellent, and she shared so much interesting information about the history and culture of the village. She also introduced me to some delicious local food, which was a real highlight. A big compliment as well to our driver, who was calm, patient, and made the journey very comfortable. All in all, a wonderful experience!

ZJJ is a blend of the old and the new. Old as in the charm of the ancient buildings which was built far back in Ming and Ching dynasty remains. While walking through the alleys and streets, crossing the bridge and riding on a boat, I peeked through histories and visualised life during that era. Residents trading, chatting and going through their daily routine. New as in there are buildings and shops that were built in recent times. Yet they blend in well with the old, not too contrasting from the old. They sit well side by side. We truly enjoyed the tour led by Robert Lou. He is knowledgeable and his English competency made it easier to understand the stories and history behind the buildings, the garden and historical sites. His hospitality is top notched, putting our needs in mind. I highly recommend this tour if you want to get away from the high rise, hustle and bustle Shanghai for a half day of tranquility.

Annie was our tour guide and was a great fit for us. We are a homeschool family. We travel as a part of our learning experiences. Annie did a great job providing history and informative insight on Chinese culture that we would never get from reading a book. She was great with my children/students. She tailored our experience to match their interests and levels of understanding (ages 5-12)! Everyone had fun and learned lots. THANK YOU Annie!!!

This is a beautiful little town with local food and shops and amazing views. We really enjoyed it. Highly recommend for an afternoon in Shanghai. Annie was a great guide, she’s very knowledgeable and has a fun and friendly personality. She fit in with our group well and was helpful and kind. Our group does not speak Chinese at all and she was great with helping us navigate shopping with the locals and explaining all of the various food and local items we were seeing.

We had a great, well-organized trip. Our guide Gong was particularly nice. She gave us lots of tips afterwards and organized things to suit our needs. I can only recommend it! Tours in the afternoon are associated with a lot of traffic jams on the way back. Greetings

The spot is quite interesting, gardens well maintained and local stores gives an unique experience. Additionally there was a boat tour. Our guide Sammi was a polite and nice person. Her English is fluent and doesn’t have the Chinese accent, she did a good job. I recommend this tour and particularly with Sammi.

We loved visiting Zhoujiajiao ! We got picked up at our hotel by our lovely guide Shirley. She was very nice and had a lot of information about the city to give us ! What a wonderful morning spent with Annie! We were picked up on time and reached the town earlier than expected. The streets were quiet as Annie walked us through telling us everything about the history and day-to-day of the town. The gardens were beautiful and the boat ride was short but sweet. Annie went above and beyond to assist us in ordering some local delicacies and then we also had some free time to wander through the markets. Annie was a very knowledgeable guide and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Shanghai!

This is a great tour for Shanghai visitors that gives you a totally different perspective and experience. Frankly, if I had known of this attraction and tour I would've done it years ago on my first visit. This was our second tour with Sunny's company, booked at the last minute as a result of our great experience on our Shanghai walking tour, and we were not disappointed. Aron picked us up promptly, and we enjoyed an easy drive of an hour or so. Aron was terrific and went the extra mile - my daughter was trying to submit an online school assignment but we had trouble with the hotel connection so she was freaking out a bit thinking she was going to miss the deadline. Aron offered his connection through his provider during the drive, walked us through what we needed to do on his personal phone, and all was accomplished! The tour itself is terrific, a great little water village with shops, foods and sights that are hard to find now in central Shanghai. Aron was super knowledgable and friendly. We had a great day and this was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend!

Our second day of private tour with sunny tour. Superb private tour with our guide lily, she was very friendly and helpful. This place is very nice, they have shops souvenir food snacks and lots of other things. Very nice ambience of the past. Boat ride was very nice. Worth to visit. Very recommended.

Our morning tour of Zhujiajiao with Lily was all we hoped for and more. Since it was a private tour, we could go at our own pace, and Lily is easy going and very good at accommodating any request. She is also thorough and knowledgeable about Chinese history and current day events. We had opted for lunch to be included, but since it was a little early while we were still in Zhujiajiao, she took us back to Shanghai and her favorite restaurant there, which was a real treat for us. All in all, a most enjoyable morning with a very personable, fun young guide.

Great tour! Lots of interesting architecture to look at and unique shops in addition to the canals. Lily was a fantastic tour guide, very knowledgeable, and was able to answer all my questions about the area and random China questions in general. Highly recommend!
