I really enjoy this experience with my mum and sister. The teacher, Yin, was very nice and very patient and helpful. We had a session for our family so is very immersive and intimate too. The dumpling making session is not difficult but do require some patience. Overall, a very interesting and useful session. Highly recommended .

Vegan Xiaolongbao Class with Chef Yin 🥟 One of the highlights of my Shanghai trip. I joined a hands-on vegan xiaolongbao class with Chef Yin, and it was far more than a cooking lesson. Chef Yin was patient, knowledgeable, and made the entire process easy to follow, even for complete beginners. From preparing the filling to learning the delicate art of pleating the dumplings, every step was explained with care. Watching a simple dough transform into beautiful soup dumplings was both fascinating and rewarding. As a vegetarian traveler, I especially appreciated the thoughtful vegan adaptation, which was delicious and didn't feel like a compromise at all. I did this as a solo travellor .our talks abt life was highlight
Very fun and unique experience. Was a good level of challenging and a rewarding activity. The xiaolongbao were delicious!
We had a wonderful experience making soupy dumplings in Yins kitchen. She was lovely and told us everything we need to know to make them at home. While we were cooking she talked about her life in China which made it an even more special experience. Thank you for this memory!
What a great class! Teacher Yin is a wonderful instructor. We loved learning to make dumplings from scratch - dough, filling and all. The bonus tea ceremony while the dough rested was a lovely touch, and we enjoyed learning about tea history. Yin was also very thoughtful in providing the vegan option for us. She's a lovely person and a fantastic host. A truly memorable experience in Shanghai!
What a fun class! Yin was so welcoming and shared so much information about soup dumplings and guided us step by step how to make them. She was very helpful when I asked questions on how to better make the folds in the dough. She was also very thoughtful about giving instructions to the location and an overall amazing host. Thoroughly enjoyed our class.
Fun experience! My 15 year-old nephew and I really enjoyed learning how to make vegan dumplings. Enjoyable!
Wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Lots of fun and delicious. Yin is very talented and was a fantastic host, we highly recommend this experience.
Highly recommend this Xiaolongbao soup dumpling cooking class! Chef Yin is an excellent cook who does a great job of teaching and providing hands-on cooking experience to participants. She is also engaging and personable and throughout the class, it was great to hear stories about China and Chinese culture and really get a deeper understanding of the country that we were visiting. Chef Yin can also customize cooking classes for you depending on what Chinese food you want to learn how to make, which is great because my son and husband like specific Chinese dishes that I can learn how to make.
Was a little worried how to find the meeting place but after booking, Yin contacted me by WhatsApp to give me exact instructions and the address in Chinese which I used to book our DiDi driver. She also forwarded us a video to find her home studio but we didn’t need it bc she met us on the street. My family of 4 including my 16 and 18 yo sons learned how to make soup dumplings and I was initially dubious how ours would turn out but was pleasantly surprised with our success due to Yin’s experience and preparedness. We made everything including the wrappers and the filling. Yin was extremely friendly and informative, spoke great English and even treated us to a small tea ceremony to prepare some delicious green tea while we waited for our dough to proof. She also gave us the recipe so we can replicate this at home. Highly recommend this class for a delicious and memorable experience in Shanghai.
This was a great experience for me and my husband! We had a great time making soup dumplings and learning about the process. We love trying new food and this was a great way to do that. Couldn’t recommend more!!
Really nice cooking class where we learn to make xialongbao from scratch (dough making to filling). We can easily try to redo it at home. Yin is welcoming and kind, offering tea and a souvenir. She also share insights around the chinese culture. Space is a bit small but well organized. I Will recommend for solo traveller, families or friends
Yin is a fun, friendly and super skilled teacher who welcomes you in her lovely lane house in the heart of Shanghai. She will introduce you to the art of Chinese dumplings making (all explanations are in English) and you’ll spend a couple of hours trying to master this traditional technique and then enjoying the delicious dumpling you’ve prepared with your own hands! Absolutely great experience and nice opportunity to take a sneak peek into traditional Chinese cuisine. I’ve been there a few times and always loved it!
We loved this soup dumpling workshop! Yin was so patient and guided us step by step in the process, and our dumplings all came out juicy and steamy. (I was a bit nervous because soup dumpling seem so delicate and I'm not much of a cook). She's very passionate about sharing Chinese cuisine and speaks good English. Also really enjoyed our small group and the cute lane house location in the former French concession.
It was a great experience I had. A lot of fun with friends and having Yummy dumplings. 手作り小籠包とても美味しかったです。丁寧に作り方を教えてもらいました。ありがとうYin さん
Easy to get to instructions, to find the location. Super friendly lady. And some how myself and my girlfriend were able to make cute little looking dumplings that tasted incredible. We ate enough not to have lunch afterwards. Highly recommended!!!
Super magical and fun experience! Nice to talk and follow the workshop at the same time. We didn’t only learn how to make a pinched dumpling (not so perfect as Ing just yet..) but also talked about how things are in China compared to Europe and how it made me reflect We had a nice small tea ceremony after we enjoyed our by our own hands made dumplings and learned about green tea and all its many different kinds and how to use and drink it. Perfect for vegetarians and vegans.
What an enjoyable way to spend time learning the art of the humble Dumpling. Yin not only makes the class fun but also has a wealth of knowledge in many aspects of this classic culinary delight. With a smile on her face, you are made to feel at home in a friendly environment whilst learning the secrets to form that perfect dumpling treat. I highly recommend this course to those who want an authentic fun experience with a true master chief….
Yin is an awesome teacher who showed me how to make delicious vegan dumplings. All the steps were included (except chopping up the dumpling filling very thinly - she had already prepared it and it saved time to focus on the dumpling making itself). The hardest part for me was rolling out the dough. The folding method for the dumplings is really fast to learn. While cooking and preparing you can chat with Yin like a friend who you have known a long time. She also gives you tips where to go, what to see etc. After you made the dumplings and they are ready to eat you can enjoy them in the kitchen with Yin. I loved this class abd it‘s a little different expericence but so worth it. 100% can recommend! :)
We took this cooking class to learn how to make dim sum from A to Z we made dough and stuffing as well as folding. Very good experience and an incredibly nice host I recommend
We loved this cooking class (xiaolongbao) with Yin. It is really a great experience if you are in Shanghai and Yin speaks very good English which is a real plus. It’s both fun and you learn a lot about Chinese food and culture. The studio is very good too.
