Malinda is a great guide, speaks good English and has deep knowledge of history. Nice to visit garden, canals, silk factory etc.

Melinda is thorough, knowledgeable and clearly has a love for history! She's also extremely caring; the first thing we saw her do was give money to a beggar, and she helped a lot of people take photos! She was extremely helpful. She helped us ordered a few local cuisine and the entire experience ran very smoothly and we have had a fabulous time thanks to her.

Michelle took us door to door and the town was lovely. Lunch was beautiful. Personally I didn’t think the garden compared to others I have seen the silk factory was a interesting tourist trap

I had a great experience seeing Suzhou with Michelle! She was a wonderful guide who has great knowledge of Suzhou and the different areas we visited. When they state the tour is flexible, they mean it. I had some unique physical challenges that day due to an injury I was overcoming and Michelle took great care to make sure my needs were met. Additionally, I had a friend I wanted to meet for dinner in Suzhou which would have disrupted the normal tour, but Sunny and Michelle were flexible to make everything happen for me. A truly wonderful experience to the beautiful city of Suzhou. Our tour guide Michelle took very good care of us and was very attentive and considerable. She is extremely knowledgeable on both Shanghai and Suzhou. We learned the history of old Suzhou and are glad to know Suzhou was the ancestral hometown of the world renowned architect IM Pei. Clearly we were impressed by with the gardens and the canals. The boat ride is a must. Michelle also took us to a neat place where we got to eat the local food which was very delicious. We highly recommend this tour.

What a wonderful day traveling just outside Shanghai. My guide Roy was such a delight and the whole day so effortlessly easy and smooth. Really liked all the sights and was great to get to experience the train system too. Would recommend

We had booked this tour based off of the described itinerary and because it was a private tour. It had listed the Humble Administrator’s Garden in the description (which is literally one of the most principal places to visit in Suzhou and a must see). But the tour guide said via WeChat that this place would be too crowded with “too many Chinese” and suggested another place we hadn’t requested instead. She also knocked down one of our other options. I found this to be the first red flag. I had a tour in Beijing at the Forbidden City, our guide was very capable, polite and enthusiastic. It was super crowded but we had an incredible experience and found some great photo spots. She weaved us through the crowds with ease and agility. If a tour guide is capable and experienced, they’ll be able to navigate any situation. Crowded or not. Additionally, we’re in one of the most populated countries in the entire world, everywhere is crowded?! You come to China knowing this. I don’t know why it would be a bad thing that there would be many Chinese people either?! Like, we’re in China? lol. Why advertise something then suggest something else and then be aggressive and condescending when we insist on doing what has been clearly advertised? It felt like the guide couldn’t be bothered. From the very beginning the tour guide’s manner was very rude and inflexible. Not one ounce of warmth. I initially put it down to the language barrier but I can speak Chinese as well so…This is my first trip to China and I’ve already visited Guangzhou, Guilin, Yangshuo, XingPing Ancient Town and Beijing in the week and a half I’ve been here. I’ve just arrived in Shanghai and done some more tours, this Suzhou day tour would’ve been the 11th private tour I’ve taken during this trip. NONE of the other tour guides have spoken to me or treated me the way this one did, I felt very racially discriminated against. This is the very time I’ve felt this way in China. Maybe because I have my picture on my WeChat profile? Mind you, this tour is already overpriced. What an utter disappointment and inconvenience to my travel plans. I booked in advance, over a month out and just cancelled because there’s no way I will spend money where I am disrespected. There are so many other options available (one of the many great things about China), where my friend and I have rebooked and been treated with the respect and kindness everybody deserves. Stay away!!

Melinda provided excellent services as a guide for a day trip to Suzhou by train. We visited Master of Nets Garden, the canal area of Suzhou, Tiger Hill, and returned by canal boat for pickup and transfer to to the train station. It would have been difficult to spend an interesting day in Suzhou on my own and managing train transportation would have been difficult. Appreciated her help very much.

Everything about this tour was top rate. Our tour guide Lea was great and had an excellent command of English. We learned a lot from her. We were driven around in clean comfortable cars. We had lunch at a very authentic restaurant (try the squirrel fish). Everything was on schedule and we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. We could not have done this day trip without Viator.

My family used this day trip and forwarded me their WeChat contact to arrange a booking. We were too last minute to book the bullet train so booked a private transfer instead, so bear this in end, you need more than a days notice to book the bullet train. Linda (our guide) met us in Suzhou, and had the day planned for us but was very open to change the schedule depending on what we wanted to see. She was brilliant! So knowledgable, friendly and would 100% recommend! We were looking for traditional Chinese wedding outfits and she helped us find places and we got our wedding day outfits

We had a very smooth and enjoyable Suzhou tour. The pick-up and drop-off between the hotel and bullet train station were prompt and professional, which made the logistics completely stress-free. The itinerary also had a good balance between walking and being driven, and the car provided was comfortable and of good quality. Our guide, Lulu, was excellent. As a Suzhou native, she knows the city extremely well and shared insights with just the right level of detail—informative without being overwhelming. For improvement, it would be great to include a few more sites in the itinerary. Ideally, at least two gardens and one temple would make the experience feel more comprehensive.

We enjoyed the private tour experience with Lulu as our guide. She was very cheerful, attentive and quick to adapt to changes in our itinerary due to rainy weather. I was traveling with two elderly family members, so she slowed the walking pace accordingly. Her efforts to tell us about historical and cultural significances of the places we visited was also commendable.

To wrap up a business trip in Shanghai, I spent a lovely day in Suzhou following a well paced itinerary that covered the Humble Administrator's Garden and a silk factory in the morning. After a delicious local lunch, we visited Tiger Hill, followed by a scenic canal ride. We ended the day with a stroll through the historic Shantang Street. My guide, Shirley, was excellent—she shared fascinating historical insights and was a pleasure to be around. Having a private car and a knowledgeable guide made the entire experience seamless and incredibly relaxing. Highly recommended!

we didn't realize Suzhou had such a deep history, so thanks to Roy for being a great guide, explaining about the gardens, the canals, the tiger hill and leaning pagoda, and a great lunch with local cuisine. unfortunately due to weather we couldn't do the boat ride, but everything else went smoothly, from the timely pickup at the hotel, the train ride and Suzhou private car.

Annie was a good guide! She told us the significant parts of Suzhou. We learned a lot from her. She took care of us very well for the train rides making sure that we were safe and that we got on and off the train at the correct stops. The only thing is the big rush as it was a public holiday. We could have gotten a bit more time at Suzhou if not for having to literally run at the last parts.

Fantastic day trip with my sister from Shanghai to Suzhou by bullet train with Melinda. Both e mail and phone call communication was excellent. Melinda shared a lot of fascinating history. We enjoyed the small garden we visited, walking along the canals, and a boat ride. Learned a lot more than we would have if we had gone alone, and it was stress free for first time visitors. Only minor negative is that it should be all inclusive, including lunch and any entry tickets, for the price. Highly recommended - an excellent tour company!

The tour to Suzhou with bullet train was awesome! It was great to see why Suzhou is called the Venice of China —- beautiful bridges and architecture along the canal! But best of all, our guide Sammie was simply awesome. She was knowledgeable, informative and patient with all our questions. The restaurant we had lunch at had delicious food and Sammie made sure we got everything we wanted to taste! But more importantly, Sammie’s customer service was exceptional. We had to cut our tour short due to a night cruise in Hangpau river. She personally helped us to pick up our tickets and accompanied us to the boat terminal. In addition, when we contacted her to ask about a particular restaurant, she called them herself without us asking and made sure we knew what the place looked like from the outside. Amazing service!

We started the day at 9 in the morning with our wonderful guide who felt like a friend by 6pm when we ended our day. Roy, our guide, seemed to have answers for everything and made our trip very informative. He went above and beyond to make us enjoy and learn about our surroundings and culture.
