Would recommend this tour. Our driver and guide arrived on time and kept us safe on the busy roads around Shanghai :-). Our guide Melinda was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about Suzhou, Shanghai and china in general. The water town was beautiful and a change in pace from Shanghai. The master of nets garden was great and Melinda gave us great insight into the cultural significance of the architecture and layout - things that we would have missed if we’d visited on our own. Melinda’s dinner recommendation was also awesome :-)

Do this private tour if you want a more curated experience during your time in Shanghai. My tour guide was Lea and she was very knowledgeable and made sure to answer all my questions. I would take this tour again

Insanely fast paced but the history and guide was amazing. Felt pressured to not stop and shop which is a shame because I really wanted to look at some of the crafts. But the timeline was tight. Great if you have a day or so only in Shanghai-highly recommend for that. Because of the price and lack of slow pace, would suggest doing a half day tour then taking the metro to where you like. Cheaper.

Guide was great and water town was interesting

This was an awesome day trip from Shanghai! Sunny, the operator, was super proactive and helpful and Michelle, our guide, was very knowledgeable. We were a mixed age group of seniors, adults and a 1-year-old and she managed all of us deftly. The included lunch in the package was also good. Highly recommend this tour for those looking for a very convenient way to see Zhujiajiao and Suzhou!

Picked up at our hotel on time by Roy & our driver. Drive to Suzhou to start our tour. Had a fantastic day with Roy and a delicious lunch. Finished our tour and drive back. Learnt a lot and with all the stories & information from Roy we came to the conclusion that everything has meaning! Would highly recommend this tour & Roy. Thank you.

This is a great tour, but be aware there is a hard sell at the end of the silk museum tour. Otherwise it was a great tour in a beautiful area. Our guide did a nice job and was very knowledgeable. Lea did a great job.

Madelyn was a great guide. She provided us a lot of information about the history of China, the different dynasties m, histories and culture and symbolism used in the design of the building. You can feel her passion, and knowledge for her job. . The water town of Zhujiajiao was so beautiful! We learned a lot from her. She catered the tour to what want to see as well. We went to the Silk museum and factory and bought some beautiful scarves. She was also very helpful in providing us suggestions of points of interests in Shanghai that we should check out. Our tour guide, Ms, 林 was incredibly reliable and provided us with very detailed and informative explanations throughout the tour. I am currently learning Chinese, and she was kind enough to teach us some Chinese as well. She was very knowledgeable, and I learned so much from her. She was also extremely kind and even bought coffee for us when we were unable to purchase it for ourselves. Despite our many requests, both Mrs 林and the driver were always very helpful and accommodating. Thanks to them, this tour became a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a truly unforgettable memory. Very interesting tour which let us see many things in one day, with a competent guide who took care of everything for us

Our tour to Zhujiajiao Water Town, Suzhou, and the silk factory was a wonderful experience. Zhujiajiao was charming, with its beautiful canals, ancient bridges, and traditional atmosphere. Suzhou was equally impressive, with its rich history, elegant gardens, and lovely old streets. Visiting the silk factory was fascinating, and we learned so much about the traditional silk-making process. Everything was very well organized, and our tour guide, Lea, was outstanding. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to answer our questions. Her explanations made every stop even more interesting, and she ensured that everyone had a great time throughout the day. The entire tour was enjoyable, informative, and exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai who wants to experience the beauty and culture of the surrounding region. It was exactly what we were looking for: an insightful tour with fascinating background information, thanks to our fantastic guide, comfortable travel in a luxurious van, and an incredible number of sights and experiences packed into a single day. Melinda was a great guide. This was our second tour in Shanghai booked with Sunny Private tours. The tour organization and communication is excellent. Our first tour with Sunny was Shanghai city night tour and was excellent. This tour was also superb. Our family opinion is this is the best value, comfort and easiest way to use your time and enjoy China. The Water town is a lovely place to walk with our guide Melinda. River Boat ride, Tea in cat cafe, souvenirs , then trip to large city Suzhou and local heritage garden , lunch and long drive home.

We had a lovely family day trip to Zhujiajiao and Suzhou yesterday and our guide Michelle was so nice and super helpful throughout the day! She speaks great English and she was patient waiting for us when we kept stopping to purchase things or whenever we needed to communicate with local vendors. She was extra helpful as our train tickets got canceled and she offered to help us purchase new ones. We really appreciated it. I recommend this tour as it takes you to 2 very romantic spots that are great for photos and unforgettable memories. We were picked up at our hotel on time, driven in a very comfortable and spacious car; and also appreciated the smooth driving of our driver. Highly recommended!

My husband and I want to thank Michelle, our guide, VERY MUCH for a WONDERFUL day together due to Michelle’s great knowledge concerning all the places she has shown us today. Michelle made a very great effort to trie to answer all our many questions we had. We had so many interessting talks about history and cultur, the great Chinese language and so many other topics more. Michelle has been so kind and patient with us all day long. Michelle also made a great effort ordering a delicious lunch for us. Michelle and our friendly driver were a very good team and arranged a smooth transport all dag long.

Our guide Annie was outstanding. She works with Sunny. Annie was not only very knowledgeable, she was very thoughtful about my recent hip surgery and planned our visit perfectly. She customized our tour to ensure we got to visit the places of most interest to us and pointed out souvenirs worth getting and ones to avoid. She also is very knowledgeable about the history, allowing us to fully appreciate the Suzhou garden and the water village we visited. We had a delicious lunch, including having one dish she recommended, the local water bamboo. Never had it before. Everything was delicious. Despite the full schedule, she also made sure we got back on time for a dinner engagement we had in Shanghai. Overall it was a perfect day!

Booking was straightforward and seamless. While it's a premium-priced package, it is absolutely worth every penny. Our guide, Michael, and our driver picked us up in an immaculate, highly comfortable car. Our first stop was an ancient water town near Shanghai-small, picturesque, and featuring a lovely river where we enjoyed a short boat ride before exploring the unique local shops on foot. From there, we drove about an hour to Suzhou for a beautiful lunch, followed by a visit to the Master of the Nets Garden, a stunning pocket of history. We then walked down the famous Shantang pedestrian street, which was bustling with energy, incredible architecture. and endless stalls and eateries along the scenic river. Michael was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with. His English is flawless, and he is courteous, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. We learned so much and truly enjoyed his company. He is an exceptional, top-tier tour guide!

The places we visited were so nice and felt like you were in Europe. The towns were lively and the people were nice. My only concern was the pricey amount being charged for the tour.

We had a great time with Melinda on this day tour. Pick up and travel was easy. The towns were beautiful and Melinda had lots of extra information to share on the areas. The boat ride was fun and lunch was really tasty, we got to choose a few things that we wouldn’t have tried otherwise and they were a good surprise. The garden in Suzhou was also a surprise and really peaceful to walk around and enjoy. We dropped by a silk factory on the way back as well as the LV boat. Highly recommend the tour and Melinda as she was really helpful and friendly and we’d easily book again!

We had a fantastic day trip to Suzhou and Zhujiajiao from Shanghai with Roy from Sunny Tours. This was our second tour with the company, and both experiences were excellent, even though each tour had a different guide. Roy spoke fluent English and had an impressive knowledge of both destinations, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The vehicle was very comfortable and the driver was excellent, making the long journey feel easy and relaxing. Having a car and driver allowed us to see far more than we would have been able to on our own in the limited time we had. Although it was a full day of travelling, the time passed quickly as Roy shared interesting information about the places we visited and even helped us plan the rest of our trip in China. The tour also included lunch at a local restaurant, which gave us a great opportunity to try some new dishes. The restaurant was very clean, the facilities were excellent, and the food was delicious. Overall, it was a well-balanced tour and the day was clearly very carefully planned and organised. We are extremely grateful to Roy and Sunny Tours for such a wonderful experience — it truly could not have been better.

I had visited the region in 2002 and wanted to share the fond experiences with my wife. I worked with Sunny weeks prior to our cruise and she was awesome. She had a great "can do" approach and built an itinerary just as I requested. Our guide, Roy, picked us up as scheduled and conducted a most enjoyable tour. He was knowledgeable and easy to understand and selected an excellent restaurant for lunch. Beware, however, when the local guide refers to the stir fry beef as "a little spicy" LOL! It was a great full day tour and I highly recommend Sunny Tours.

Great trip, good driving as guiding. Relaxing trip. Good communication. Highly recommend. The trip involves. a couple hours drive outside of Shanghai, but it's well worth it. Earlier Chinese dynasties dating as early as 300 BC built water canals. This trip visits two water towns. Shizou is a great example of this. Marco Polo came here an noticed its similarities to Venice. Also has the Chinese leaning tower. Greta history. Great company to use. Very communicative.

Wonderful experience with our guide Melinda! We were picked up at our hotel by Melinda & a driver in a nice, luxurious & spacious van. Melinda was excellent, she explained a lot of Chinese culture to us & gave us detailed information at each site we visited. She was very professional, entire trip was very well planned, for example we went to Zhujiajiao in the morning to avoid the crowds and we really enjoyed it being so tranquil and peaceful. We also never had to wait for our transportation, the van would always just drive up at the right time and pick us up to go to the next stop. We went to a silk factory & learnt about silk production which was very educational for my teenage son. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, we learnt so much stuff and it was so nice to have a private & customized tour. Melinda was super friendly & wonderful to talk to, she gave us suggestions of what to do & where to dine in Shanghai for the rest of our trip.

This was a great way to see the history of the Shanghai area outside of the city. The historical water towns were fascinating. Our guide, Melinda was so friendly and knowledgeable and let us take as much time as we wanted when we saw shops or food vendors we wanted to explore. She made sure we had our tickets and place in line and made sure we got the best price for shopping. Our driver Charlie was very safe and punctual. If you want a break from the busy city, this is a great excursion.

First we visited Zhujiajiao Water its unique village and has alote of traditional stores. In Suzhou we have visited humble garden and learning about their culture and thought. Then go to the silk factory see how they produce the silk and lastly buy pure silk products as scarves. Hope if there is time to visit Suzhou downtown.

For us, this was the perfect way to visit Suzhou and Zhujiajiao. We rode a gondola in Zhujiajiao and explored the ancient town. Then it was on to Suzhou. We visited the Garden of the Net, had a great lunch and then strolled along canal street. Our guide Melinda was friendly and knowledgeable and made our day lots of fun. Definitely recommend this tour!

Annie made this a five star experience. Even though we saw both Suzhou and Zhujiajiao in one day, we never felt rushed. Annie was very patient with all of my picture taking. She also was very knowledgeable and gave us great information. I highly recommend this tour.

Very beautiful visit to 2 watertowns near Shanghai. Lea was helpful and engaging. It was also helpful to have a driver so the car was waiting at the end of each leg. In all, a cool day trip of unique, heritage sites off the beaten path from Shanghai.

Our driver and Lea were absolutely great touring us through these small towns outside of Shanghai. It was really nice to get out of the city and even better to have an air conditioned vehicle to leave our things between stops! Highlight of the trip was absolutely getting a shell cracked open to pearls where a gentlemen made me 2 sets of earrings, 2 necklaces, 2 rings, and a bracelet (all for roughly $100 usd). Very cool experience, great sights/pics. Would highly recommend when visiting to get out of the city! Would do it all over again with no changes to our itinerary!

We had a wonderful day exploring Suzhou, Zhujiajiao Water Town, Yu Garden, and the Silk Museum with our guide, Melinda. She picked us up right at our rented flat in Shanghai, which made things so easy, and later even dropped us off at New Town Plaza instead of home—a great recommendation of hers. Melinda gave us plenty of helpful tips for our stay in Shanghai, and we ended up enjoying all of her suggestions. The best parts of the trip for us were Zhujiajiao Water Town, with its charming canals, and New Town Plaza Shanghai, which had a lively modern feel. Yu Garden was also very pretty and worth seeing. The Silk Museum started out fascinating, especially the demonstrations of how silk is made, but much of it felt more like a shop—so that may or may not appeal, depending on what you’re looking for. What really stood out was how customized the whole day felt. We had enough time for everything, went off-schedule when something caught our interest, and everyone in the family—from kids to grandparents—found something they loved. That flexibility made the experience really special. Overall, I can warmly recommend this trip and Melinda as a guide. It was personal, flexible, and full of great memories.
