Shanghai Private Tour: Zhujiajiao Water Town And Boat Ride

We had a wonderful day trip to Zhjjiajiao water town with bubbly guide Queena. Local crab soup dumplings are so tasty, we ordered twice! The boat ride and temple are highlight, very relaxing compared to city life. Highly recommend this tour and Queena to anyone wanting to explore this lovely ancient town near Shanghai!

Snow was our tour guide and we wish we could give her 7 stars!!! 5 is not enough! I really appreciated the flexibility throughout the tour. I could t believe this was private tour guide, driver and brand new car with massagers in all the seats! Our Mr. Hu our driver was great! It was a very comfortable drive back and forth from Shanghai. Snow even gave us recommendations for dinner and helped us book massages for later in the day. Water Town was incredible! We loved walking the gardens and eating the sticky rice dumplings! Snow really helped us at the vendors too when we bought some pearls and wanted to focus on local vendors and more unique hand made items. Would absolutely do it again!!!

Beyond the facts and history, Kalvin shared fascinating stories and insights into local life and culture that we would never have discovered on our own. Nice trip to the water town.

We had the best time, our tour agent in Australia booked us a private tour for a group of 4. The company contacted me a day prior with relevant information and we met KALVIN our private tour guide the next morning, on time and the vehicle and driver was first class. The tour exceeded all my expectations and my family had a wonderful experience thanks to Kalvins knowledge on not only Zhujajiao water town, but everything in between, every question was answered and honestly we couldn't have asked for a better tour guide. As for Zhujajiao water town, wow, our minds where blown away with what we saw, and if I was to ever get back to Shanghai this is the first place I will be coming again, this place is a must do! 10/10 loved every second ❤️

Beautiful! We actually switched it up last minute to be able to travel on the bullet train and went to Suzhou. It was beautiful, we were able to pick and choose what we wanted to see. Went down to the canals, shopping, lunch and bullet train. Melinda was our guide and she was great!! Helped with translating, bargaining, and getting us around.

Our tour to Zhujiajiao Water Town with Boat Ride was lots of fun and worthwhile. The tour operator contacted me directly as soon as she was aware of our ship's schedule change (we had to depart Shanghai early due to arrival of typhoon and closure of port). Alana offered alternative tours to us for the day we arrived or the following morning. We opted to take this tour in the afternoon on the day we arrived, and all was set. Our guide, Mr Zheng was fantastic--he met us right we were told he would meet us and our driver came and we drove out to the beautiful Zhujajiao Water Town, west of Shanghai. Mr. Zheng offered us a brief history lesson on Shanghai and China during our drive--without overwhelming us as China's history is so long. His English was easy to understand and he was quite friendly. The advantage to an afternoon pick up--the crowds had disappeared out at Zhujiajiao which made exploring quite pleasant. We walked at a moderate pace, with the opportunity to stop and take photos and visit shops without feeling rushed. We enjoyed our boat ride on the canal, and then strolled some of the quaint streets and shops. We stopped and enjoyed an early dinner--and had a feast for 2 at a restaurant just along the waterfront. We came back to town and we were able to coordinate a drop off for a show that our ship was hosting at the Shanghai Centre Theatre. It was a fantastic day and I would highly recommend this tour and the company, Amazing Shanghai Trip. (NOTE: We originally booked through Viator, but once we learned of the change of our schedule--we cancelled and worked directly with Alana to arrange the tour through whats app. Like many folks might be--I was a bit nervous, but everything worked as expected and we simply paid for the tour at the end with cash.) I was completely floored by the customer service and communication from Alana and the flexibility to still provide us an awesome tour and a fantastic guide--Mr. Zheng!

This was a great experience. The tour coordinator, Alana, was on top of everything and very easy to communicate with. The town is beautiful and full of rich history. Our tour guide, Jenny, was informative and accommodating, from adjusting the pace of the tour to our needs to assisting with an unusual last minute detour. Would definitely go on another tour with them in the future.

The pick up was on time and the car was lovely, very smart and clean and safe smooth driving. Kalvin was brilliant, great English, incredibly knowledgeable and very experienced, it was great to spend the day with him and really enhanced our trip. It was very interesting to visit such a pretty village, enjoyed seeing the houses from the water. Judy was able to give us lots of information in English.

The best tour ever very friendly

This tour was fabulous and so very different from the other tours I booked in Shanghai. The garden was lovely and peaceful, the Budhist and Tsaoist temples interesting, the boat trip really enjoyable and walking along the narrow lanes viewing the lovely goods on display in the small shops was interesting and really tempting, except the insects! Lunch was really tasty and was accompanied by traditional singing. Queena was delightful, very knowledgeable and her English was very good. I really enjoyed her company. The driver had to cope with heavy traffic on the return journey and kindly dropped me off at the National History Museum and sculpture park. It was a lovely end to a great day.

My sister and I booked a private tour to Zhujiajiao from Shanghai. Our guide, Kelvin was very knowledgeable and professional, we really enjoyed every place he showed us. From the prompt and convenient hotel pick up to the itinerary, transportation, as well as the lunch and gondola ride included, everything was perfect. My wife and I recently took the Shanghai Zhujiajiao Water Town private tour and really enjoyed the tour! Our guide, Snow, did a great job, providing a lot of good information throughout the tour and taking us throughout the historic town. We really enjoyed seeing the town, visiting the large historic gardens, taking a boat ride around the town, and visiting the many shops, including the shops where custom handmade silk pictures and pearl jewelry are made. The driver also did a good job picking us up at the hotel on time, quickly getting us to the Water Town, and then dropping us off at the airport. I highly recommend this tour.

We booked a half-day private tour of Zhujiajiao, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip, thanks entirely to our guide, Ms Snow. From the moment we met, Ms Snow was warm, friendly and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing her hometown's heritage. Her knowledge of Zhujiajiao's history is impressive. She brought the ancient water town to life with stories about its origins, its old trading days, the stone bridges and the traditional architecture lining the canals. We came away with a much deeper appreciation of the place than we ever could have on our own. Her command of English is excellent, which made conversation easy and natural. We never felt rushed or lost in translation, and she happily answered all our questions, big and small. What we appreciated most was how thoughtfully she planned the tour around our pace. She read our energy well, knew when to slow down, and made sure we had time to take photos and simply soak in the atmosphere. It truly felt like a personalised experience rather than a standard itinerary. Ms Snow also took us to a local shop where we purchased a pearl clam at RMB300 that had over 30 pearls of various sizes in it, and we custom-made pearl earrings and bracelets, all crafted on-site. It was fascinating to watch the process, and we now have beautiful, meaningful souvenirs to remember the trip by. Other highlights included tasting the local dumplings, which were delicious, and a relaxing ferry ride across the water village. Gliding past the old houses and bridges was the perfect way to see Zhujiajiao from a different perspective. The timing was so perfect that we got to see a live martial arts performance on the water. The day ended with a sumptuous dinner of Xinjiang cuisine at Yer-Shari Restaurant, and we got to see a live dance performance during our meal. If you're visiting Zhujiajiao, I wholeheartedly recommend booking a private tour with Ms Snow. She is knowledgeable, attentive and a joy to spend time with. We had a wonderful private tour with Xin to Zhujiajiao Water Town. Through her we learnt some interesting history, walked through beautiful gardens, sampled tea, enjoyed a boat ride & a lovely lunch. Xin also helped us find some lovely souvenirs. It was just so relaxing and enjoyable to be guided and not have to worry about anything. The private transport there & back was also effortless and very worthwhile.

Queena was amazing from the moment we met to the moment we finished the tour. Knowledgeable, informative and very open to questions. Great tour. After the hustle and bustle of Shanghai, it was lovely to drive out to the beautiful water village. Our driver and car were very good. Our guide Kalvin was fantastic. Not only did he give us a great tour of the water village, he gave us so much more information about Shanghai and China. We had lunch with Kalvin in a family restaurant overlooking the canal. The food was delicious. Highly recommend this trip.

A truly excellent tour with an outstanding guide Kiki. Kiki was not only so informative, but delightful, fun and helpful. We had a wonderful trip to the beautiful water town of Zhujiajiao with Kalvin. Everything went smoothly, and Kalvin was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot about Chinese culture and history, as well as the historical development of Shanghai. It was interesting to hear about both the big things, like the architecture and history of the town, and the small details, like the fish and the Chinese game of Go. Kalvin also shared a thought that really stayed with me: life is like playing Go, make your moves wisely and have no regrets.

This is the perfect place to go and experience serene, peaceful surroundings after the chaos of Shanghai. The town is very quaint and beautiful with lots of unique shops. Don’t forget to take a boat ride down one of the many canals!

Kalvin did an excellent job with our tour. He gave us lots of great information about the town with a lot of historical facts, and gave good information during the drive about Shanghai and other parts of China. He took us to an authentic restaurant in town with excellent food and gave us time to stop and shop. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend.

This was the perfect way to spend a whole afternoon away from the busy city. We had such a lovely time exploring Zhujiajiao with Lin. It’s a beautiful and charming place, and Lin made the experience even more enjoyable with her interesting commentary and insights along the way. She was incredibly patient and kind, always making sure we had enough breaks between the longer walks. She knew the area really well and made everything feel easy, smooth and comfortable. The journey to and from our hotel was also really straightforward and punctual.
