Your local guide will pick up you from your hotel lobby at your desired time in the morning. Then you will follow BBC Rick Stein’s footsteps to taste Shanghai. First, you will go to the Yuyuan bazaar, which is the old Ming and Qing dynasty architecture market, with various of souvenir shops and restaurants where you can enjoy your time there shopping and taking photos. You will have chance to taste some of the famous snack in the markets if you are interests, such as the spring roll, Big soup dumplings. Famous Yu Garden is just right next to the bazaar, if you want to have a visit, please let your guide know (Yuyuan garden close on Monday).
After your morning tour, your guide will take you to a nice local restaurant where you can enjoy some well-known local food, such as Xiao Long Bao (soup dumpling) and Chairman Mao's favorite dish Hong Shao Rou (Braised pork in brown sauce). Xiao Long Bao is a characteristic of Shanghai cuisine, with over hundred years of history. Pork minced “Xiao Longs” are the most classical ones and once it comes to right season, you can also try the crab-meat one.
In the afternoon, you will visit Shanghai Tower the tallest building in China (the 2nd tallest in the world). The observatory of “Shanghai Tower” is with the height of 632 meters, and you can have a panoramic view of the whole city with 360 degrees dimension at the “airborne city “and “city’s smart eyes”. It is really unique experience on the top and is the best choice for enjoying damper, the high-tech achievement.
After that, you will you will enjoy a relaxing river cruise ride on the mother river of Shanghai - Huangpu River. You will have a glimpse of Shanghai’s past and look into the bright future of the city from Riverside Promenade area. Your cruise offers a great view of the grand colonial buildings along west side of the Bund, such as the famous Peace hotel, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank and etc.. Turn towards east side, you will see the skyscrapers of shanghai, like Oriental Pearl TV Tower, World Financial Center, and Shanghai Tower. If you choose the afternoon departure,you will enjoy the prosperous lights, which will lights up your whole trip. Kalvin was an excellent guide. He is a walking encyclopedia of information for everything Shanghai, and could answer every one of our questions with confidence. He was so kind to my family (he even took my youngest to the restroom during lunch!), and we felt very taken care of in his hands. We were very lucky and privileged to take this tour on Chinese New Year. Jane looked after us superbly, adjusting the itinerary to help us get a real taste of Shanghai amongst the mayhem and a bit of rain. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to bustling old town Shanghai and Jane led us through the crowd covering a lot of ground. We made the call to avoid the lines at Shanghai Tower which disappeared into the mist anyway and we went to the Jade Buddha temple instead. Jane gave us a very in depth explanation of every aspect. We were driven to the French Concession and enjoyed a picturesque walk through before we were driven to an amazing Shanghai dinner!! Finally we were dropped off at the ferry terminal which we would never get through without Janes help… the river cruise was spectacular and the VIP tickets with oolong tea and snacks made the experience even more special. We bid Jane farewell and rode back to our hotel in our luxury vehicle. What a way to introduce ourselves to the vibrancy of beautiful Shanghai!!!

I really loved how knowledgeable my guide, Xin, was. She was incredibly friendly and intelligent. We went to the Yu gardens ,and to Chinatown, and to a beautiful observation deck and dinner a walk along the balloon and finally a wonderful trip on the river. If you are thinking of taking this trip, I suggest you do. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I only speak a little Chinese and having somebody that was fluent and knew the city made me feel so confident. Did I mention you should do this? :)
Before the tour even started, Alana, the tour coordinator, got in contact with us to check if we had any particular requests and to make sure the tour was perfectly adapted to our requirements. This was extremely thoughtful and helpful and after a short discussion we moved the tour start 1 hour earlier to make sure we could visit the yujuan garden, effectively increasing the tour time by 1 hour without any extra charge. Our taxi driver, Miss Cheng, was on time and lovely. Our guide, Charlie, was very knowledgeable and helpful. The tour was very interesting and well organised, with almost no waiting time inbetween activities. The food was lovely and there was more than enough to feed everyone despite some of us starving because of the jetlag. Beers were included. At the end we finished the day with a boat ride. The boat was crowded so the tour operator upgraded us to the VIP aera of the boat. This was a lovely touch to finish the day, the boat ride was wonderful and we now leave this place with beautiful pictures. The hotel pickup and drop-off was very important for us and we are glad they could provide it as our hotel was quite far out of town. 10/10, excellent day and excellent tour. Wonderful experience. We could have not experience as many things just by oursleves.

We enjoyed this trip very much. The car was air-conditioned and comfortable to ride in, with a pleasant driver, who took us between the attractions. Our guide - Ms. Berlin - was wonderful! She tailored the experience to our needs (we are an older couple), took good care of us (she provided us with hand disinfection, face masks and refreshments along the way) and talked about Shangai most engagingly and with deep knowledge. Very professional behaviour and great English! The food we had at a modern Chinese restaurant was delicious. Everything was well planned and ran smoothly. We heartily recommend this tour and Ms. Berlin as guide!

We had an awesome time with Snow who tried to accommodate our last minute changes. She also took us to Paradise Dynasty and chose the best meal for us! We could barely stand up from our rather full stomach! It made a huge difference that she could speak English! Unfortunate that even airport and restaurant servers cannot understand not speak English. She made our experience much less frustrating. Thanks Snow! You were awesome with A+++++++ rating!
The tourist guide named snow was very friendly and explains the area that we went around. The choices of food that she pick was really delicous in paradise dynasty. We love it. we went to yue garden, the tallest tower,and a cruise around shanghai. She tries to answer our questions the best way she can and accomodate our whims which we appriciate. We loved and enjoyed the whole trip with her.
Four of us have just arrived home and really enjoyed the exceptional private tour we booked through viator. The tour was well planned, and our tour guide Lang was really knowledgeable, thoughtful, accommodating and great company during our trip - the chinese meal we all loved - introduced us to some great Chinese quisine we hadn't had in GB, Yu gardens were a great experience as although we could have visited on our own we would not have had the expert knowledge of Lang which really made the trip. Thank you for the care and attention Lang and your company put into this trip, I would recommend this to other travellers going to Shanghai as something well worth doing. Four of us from the US really enjoyed this half-day highlight tour of the city booked through Viator. Snow, our tour guide, was excellent. She was personable, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We visited the Yu Gardens, the Yuyuan Bazaar, Shanghai Tower, dined at Paradise Dynasty restaurant located at the Tower, and enjoyed an awesome nighttime cruise along the Huangpu River. Our guide took us off-street shopping and guided us to some fabulous dumplings and other dishes from the restaurant menu. We couldn’t have asked for a better Shanghai experience.
We had our reservations confirmed when we arrived at our room. Next day our guide Daisy arrived on time with our driver. Great guidance through all the tours & help with dinner ordering, getting a fork & everything. Dinner was great my favorite was the dumpings filled with broth. Daisy delivered us to the hotel safe & sound.
The Shanghai Tower was excellent and the Huangpu River was sensational. Our tour also included the Yu Gardens and Dinner. Alana and her driver provided us with an exceptional experience.

Went with my 92 year old dad who has some disability issues - mainly walking. This was a great tour for us! Mary really took excellent care of us, got us through lines, avoided steps when possible, etc, etc. The personalized service was great! Really made my life much easier. Especially getting the hotel pickup and dropoff. We spent very little time waiting anywhere for anything. Mary's English is excellent., She certainly knows a lot about Shanghai, the sights, travel, etc, etc. We both loved the dinner - i rather inisisted she order typical Chinese food. Lots of food, good amount of varietyp, delicious taste!. Excellent! The tour mix was great - covered a lot of ground and saw lots of sights. Happily recommend tour guide, driver and tour. We enjoyed the historical Chinese area, Yu Gardens and Shanghai Tower. Also, the boat cruise was great! Rainy ... But great! Major complaints. The stupid rain. Also, might have been more helpful if guide wore more distinctive jacket, not navy blue. (Latter is dad's only complaint - he was very pleased otherwise.). Again, everything went great. I don't hesitate to recommend highly. I didn't much like the rain though.
