The overall experience was great. Typical buffet where people thought there was not going to be enough food for them, rushing like animals and taking 5 lobsters at a time when the limit was 1 per plate, if this doesn’t bother you, you would love it. Not our thing. The sightseeing part was spectacular.

Itinerary
This 468 meters (1,536 feet) high tower is the world's sixth and China's second tallest TV and radio tower. As the landmark in Shanghai, you must go up the tower and get a bird's eye view of the whole city, the 360 degree transparent observatory makes you feel like on air. The revolving restaurant inside the second sphere of the Oriental Pearl Tower offers buffet of western style. While dining, you could enjoy the beautiful scene of the city.

Reviews
The Oriental Pearl buffet restaurant has an amazing view, especially after dark, and has a very large selection of Asian and non-Asian dishes, and allows people to bypass the very large lineup for the observation level, which is a big plus. However the food quality is generally poor, there are long lineups at the buffet stations, with crowds everywhere, and there is no table service (I.e. for additional drinks). Given the high price, experience / quality issues and overcrowding, I cannot recommend the buffet restaurant.
This includes a lot of things for the price including the Shanghai history museum which was unexpected.
I don’t know why some people gave this such a low rating? We had a great time with the dinner buffet. Did a little research for the dinner buffet. Arrived at the tower at 17:30, had a little bit under an hour to explore the two levels in the first sphere before sun down. Lined up at 18:30 for the buffet dinner. Hey, the seating area revolves around, which is pretty cool. The food is decent. Lots of choices. It’s like most buffet places, you get lots of choices. After dinner, you go down to the first sphere and you can explore if you want to do the two activities at the 90 meter area. If not, head down the last glass elevator and out. Fun 3.5 hours of my life. Go down a little early after dinner if you want to explore the first sphere as the tower closes at 9. A few shops on the ground level. It’s fun, even though I am a little afraid of heights, i managed to walk a little on the glas floor before my knees shaked a little too much. Time well spent.
It is a structure that, at first glance, looks merely modernist—nothing more. But when you venture into its depths, you discover something truly impressive and remarkably well-built. We rode a roller coaster inside, and it was anything but smooth; I wouldn't recommend it for those with sensitive stomachs or a tendency toward motion sickness. For me, it was a terrible, jarring experience—though everything else was fantastic.
Absolutely worth every penny, so much to see and unsurprisingly so well organised. Excellent value for money, the buffet was absolutely amazing so much choice especially if you like seafood, including wonderful sweet lobster and massive choice of fruit juices and unlimited beer. This is an experience not to be missed, you will be overwhelmed by the size of the tower and the interior. There even a very scary ride and a glass walkway. 5 stars but for me everything about Shanghai is 5 stars
The pearl of Shangai!! A unique experience on top of the towel . You can see the city from 263m. The staff are all amazing and very helpful
Looks amazing from downstairs. Its organised very badly. Ultra crowded lift with no aircon. Had to ask for host to translate to English. Dirty, smelly, crowded. Top ball has a tiny window only and mainly some cartoon caracters and shop. Wish I could get a full refubd as this was not worth the price !!!!!
We had a great experience booking the three balls tour! We got exactly what was described. We toured the Oriental Pearl Tower at our leisure, all the way up to the third ball. Recommend!
Excellent service, everything was perfect from the booking to the visit.i definitely recommended to everyone that wants smooth and fast processes.
Its a must to go there when you are in shanghai the glass floor observation deck is amazing and scary had a great time there its highly recommended
I couldn’t leave Shanghai without visiting Oriental Pearl Tower. It’s very kitchy inside, and hot/crowded at the time I visited. Honestly I preferred the viewing experience from Shanghai Tower, which offers an overview of OPT - and is more interesting when viewed from outside. A little dated now, but that gives it a special charm.
Incredible experience from purchasing on-line tickets with Travel China Guide (days before flying to Shanghai & their efficient response gave much comfort in the company’s credibility especially for foreign visitors like myself 👍🏻) to getting up in the Pearl tower. It was amazing view and we stayed there at the observatory deck for more than two hours appreciating the view from evening to sunset and till night.
Excellent experience, beautiful views, very good food at Revolving Restaurant, very interesting museum show! We recommend this trip
Insanely long and slow moving queues and frankly not worth the wait. The views from the observation points were quite good but behind glass which was smudged and quite dirty so not so good for photos. There were also very long queues in order to leave the tower.
Great place to eat Western food and seafood. The view was great. And the glass floor was fun to walk on.
Very nice experience, good option if you have only a few hours to visit Shanghai, as the venue has good conection with Pudong Airport. Access was smoth and easy, waiting time was very little. The view is just fantastic.
We Loved all 3 sphere...and having QR code tickets Best 👌 👍🏻 My favorite was Shanghai history museum on the first floor AWESOME AMAZING 👏
Easy to book tickets in advance for this attraction when visiting Shanghai. The views are incredible when weather permitted.
Put this on the top of your list for Shanghai! We loved it: highly recommend the 3 Balls option as it provides all the viewing opportunities provided: we gasped in disbelief at the multiple wonderful views of Shanghai at night: a wonderland of colour! Excellent: well worth every cent to experience this. TIP: do this one at night and book another tower (nearby) for the following morning: super to get two very different perspectives. We rate this 10/10.
All highly recommended! We liked it, we went with my mom. The payment for the tickets was quick and we already had a ticket for the reserved date. We took a ticket for the third of August from 5 to 7 pm, so that we had the opportunity to admire the beautiful Shanghai sunset. We took a ticket for three balls of the tower at once, so that we could go without queues and directly to the elevators that work by floors of the tower. For the future, if you take a ticket for the two balls in the tower for the glass floor and the regular observation deck, you'll be in a big line. The third ball floor just has expositions dedicated to space. Prices are the same as on Chinese official websites for booking events. We had a blast~
Viator is my go to option when I travel to Asia, their whole service is excellent and you can always count on them for any last minute corrections. Special thanks to Maria Xue, who helped changed my dates.
Viator is my go to option when travelling to Asia from Europe, their service is excellent and I can always count on their help with any last minute issues.
The train tickets were purchased easily and the service provided was excelent. Strongly recommend to use this plataform before going to Shanghai or any other city in China.
Central locations with beautiful views, more experiences available than your average viewing tower. Recommend to see in Shanghai.
Cool place, and extra cool to walk on the glass floor. Too many screaming people and a bit too much comics. The third bubble is not much to see, but still a must.
Since it was a national holiday, the queues were long, but the atmosphere was nice and the lockers to store your bags for free! Viewings were stunning!
A must-see attraction of Shanghai. There are many points of view. The nicest is a glass floor at the second level. So it seems you walk suspended… but also the first level is nice. Go downstairs one floor from video games and there is an open terrace. Third floor is not suggested because of the clouds, that often involve also the second floor. But the experience is necessary if you visit Shanghai.
View was nice but extremely crowded. Food at the buffet was nothing to write home about although pleasant enough area. Deliberately unclear from the booking that the space capsule was not included in the ticket - apparently we need to have a three balls ticket but not entirely sure how to get that. We were very disappointed to be turned away from getting access. Also, you can get this for significantly cheaper if you book via other sites or locally. Wouldn’t recommend overall - not a must see for Shanghai
The tour around the tower was good, but the main viewing points were so crowded you could t reach the window to see out properly and people didn’t view and then move away as they sat there for ages. Amazing views of the city and river though. If you book the food buffet, you get all you can eat food and drinks, but it is very mass catered food. The revolving floor is incredibly slow moving - we didn’t even get half way round in the hour we were there.
The pearl tower is the staple of Shanghai. when you are in it, that means you cannot see it; if that makes sense. If you are only visiting for a short time, you do not have to go inside the tower or to the top. Also the dinner was 3 stars at max. The food was not that great, and the rotation speed of the restaurant was very slow for obvious reasons. This is one of those bookings you make just to say that you did it, not so much to enjoy for a long period of time. If I can redo it, I would choose not to eat here and pick another place in Shanghai to eat.
Aparte de las magnificas vistas de Shanghai que se toenen desde la torre, el buffet de la cena es excelente, con gran variedad y calidad. Comida muy occidental en general aunque hay de todo. Actividad super recomendable
Magnificent view. Variety of must-have dishes. Unforgettable evening. A bit of a wait to get into the restaurant but it was worth it.
Awesome. An amazing experience. We arrived by day. There were quite a few people but as soon as it got dark and you could see the Bund lights it was amazing. To enter the restaurant quite queue pq if you want to sit near the window is impossible. Still amazing. Spectacular food. And then you go downstairs as you walk out into the room with the transparent floor and it's shocking. We loved it. Good. Overall China has been a very very good discovery. To repeat.
The required QR code was sent to me in time and I could enter without any problems. The view is fantastic, but I wouldn’t necessarily have needed the 3-balls ticket as you can hardly see out from the highest “ball”. Overall a cool experience!
It is the second tower I have "climbed" in Shanghai. I had booked a ticket with dinner buffet. This, too, worked smoothly. I recommend going during the week and in the evening: I was there on Wednesday and since all other tourists probably go to the Bund in the evening, there was no crowd here 😉.
We built the day tower and the truth is that it is a unique experience. Too bad there are a lot of people inside, otherwise it is definitely worth taking the viewpoint, taking the tickets with China Travel Guide was a hit! Thank you Maria Xue!!!
