This Suzhou day trip from Shanghai by bullet train was excellent. Our guide, Caroline, was impressive; she speaks fluent English and is deeply knowledgeable. Though we had just met, she made us feel long acquainted. Her energy and passion for the work were evident. The journey was well coordinated and efficient. Logistics were seamless, and the bullet train ride was comfortable. We chose the all-inclusive option, and lunch was outstanding. Alana managed our last-minute request for a halal meal in Suzhou. My daughter and wife appreciated Caroline so much. I would rate the trip 10/10 and highly recommend it to anyone.

I had an amazing day on a private solo tour of Suzhou with my wonderful guide, Carolyn. As this was my first trip to China I tagged on a couple of days to my business trip as I wanted to experience as much as possible. This all-inclusive itinerary exceeded my expectations. I originally tried to book the same itinerary (at a much higher cost) with a reputable, globally known, tour operator but, fortunately, they had no availability for the dates I required. It was a leap of faith to book a tour via TripAdvisor, especially as it required passport details, but I’m glad that I did. The tour was extremely well organised and included luxury car transfers, bullet train travel, a boat ride, a rickshaw ride, lunch, the Humble Administrator’s Garden and a silk factory tour, which is a must-see. Every element was high quality, immersive and seamlessly coordinated. Alana, a tour coordinator from Amazing Shanghai Tours who run this trip, contacted me the day before to give me details of my guide, check my dietaries and any special requests, and instructions on where to meet. She made herself available at any time for questions or concerns that I might have. A good start. However, it was Carolyn my guide who truly made the day exceptional. I’ve worked in hospitality for over 25 years and regularly interact with guides, so I recognise outstanding service when I see it. Carolyn was a natural: warm, energetic, intelligent, knowledgeable and practically fluent in English. As a Shanghai native, she brought the destination to life through engaging stories and conversation rather than a one-way lecture, and fully customised the itinerary to my interests throughout the day. Carolyn handled my itinerary changes, including adding the silk weaving factory and adjusting the train times at last minute, with ease. She also helped me choose excellent dishes and a lovely restaurant for lunch. The transfer drivers were professional, the vehicles were high quality, and all transfers ran smoothly. In short I would gladly recommend this tour and Carolyn to anyone visiting Shanghai or Suzhou. I plan to return in February with my family and look forward to booking Carolyn again and exploring further afield.

I had a fantastic day with Queena today, she was so friendly and nice we had so much fun exploring Suzhou together. She was very knowledgeable and told me the history of the places we visited. What a wonderful way to spend a day away from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. The itinerary and organization of the trip were excellent. Humble gardens was a highlight for us and our guide Lin was outstanding.

A brilliant day exploring the ancient streets of Suzhou with Kimi our wonderful guide. A peaceful ride down the canal witnessing old homes alongside & the way life was long ago. Panmen Gate was so interesting with beautiful gardens & pagodas. The ancient city wall & gate was incredible to see & hear the many intriguing stories Kimi told. Lunch was authentic & so delicious with an enjoyable walk down old Pingjiang Rd afterwards then a fun rickshaw ride through the winding back streets witnessing daily life, then driver took us to the Humble Administrator’s Garden which was absolutely breathtaking! What a way to end the tour! Stunning! All transport arrangements were seamless, very comfortable & stress free. Kimi was an absolute font of knowledge answering our many questions & giving us so many insights into Suzhou & its history. Thank you Kimi & team for a spectacular experience.

Our guide, Xin was a lovely lady who was very informative and helpful. The highlights of Suzhou were learning about the history and process of silk weaving and visiting the Humble Administrator's Garden (despite the crowds a day before Golden Week).

Caroline was an absolute dream! From the very first moment, she welcomed us so warmly and made us feel incredibly comfortable. This honestly became one of the most beautiful and memorable days of our entire trip. She is an absolute professional and somehow always knew exactly where to go, where to stand and how to take the perfect photos. Some of the most beautiful pictures from our entire journey were taken with Caroline, and we will keep those memories forever. A very funny and sweet surprise: we are Iranian, and Caroline even knew a little Persian! That made the experience even more special and showed us once again how much knowledge, passion and personality she brings to her tours. We loved everything about the day – especially the rickshaw ride, the beautiful boat ride, the food and all the little moments in between. Everything was organized so smoothly that we could simply relax and enjoy the experience. For the price, this tour is an absolute must-do. The tour took us through the old town areas of Suzhou. The sights of the canals were nice, and learning about the history of the city was very interesting. Our guide Lin was fantastic! Full of knowledge and information, and very accommodating to our needs. We had a great time overall. Thank you!

I had a fantastic day trip to Suzhou with Kimi. Transportation was easy from start to finish with the hotel pickup, bullet train, and local driving. It was a great change of pace from Shanghai with stops to Panmen Gate, local markets, and a beautiful garden. Lunch was also delicious too. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history and culture outside the modern city.

This was an interesting day but involved a lot of walking. Our guide Kimi was very knowledgeable and an enthusiastic historian. He looked after us very well. We recommend this tour, especially with guide Kimi.

Wow Wow Wow! ABSOLUTELY Incredible!! This is a MUST take trip, and was the highlight of our time in the Shanghai and surrounding area. ❤️ Lin is amazing - from taking so many stunning Instagram photographs of my daughter that *for the first time ever* she said “no more needed”, to telling us history stories throughout the day to keep our experience meaningful and more immersive, to setting the perfect pace with a customized assortment of our favorite to-do sites in Suzhou. This tour exceeded my expectations incredibly. I can not give this experience, and Lin, enough stars. …I was worried about an 8hr tour, especially during the heat of summer…but the efficiently coordinated tour with dedicated a/c transportation between our immersive boat ride in the canal, beautiful strolls, bike-carriage ride, silk factory tour, delicious lunch, tea house experience, and beautiful garden tour was perfect. The pace felt smooth and enjoyable. We didn’t feel tired until just before time to call it a day. I’m still amazed at how much we were able to experience of Suzhou without over extending ourselves. It was so much and so enjoyable! All this was complimented by the accommodations and kindness of Lin. She would often grab a bag for us, offer an extra drink or snack - she just showed so much genuine consideration. When I mentioned to her I didn’t want to buy anything at the silk factory (great tour and beauty items there!) she even helped shield the entire interaction in such a way that we felt completely comfortable and never pressured. 🌟 This is truly a MUST do trip, and I give Lin my highest recommendation as your guide.

For some reason I was expecting a group tour like I've had in the past, your and your best friend plus 30 strangers on a bus, one tour guide with a microphone, that sort of thing. I did not realize that for this great price you could get a private tour with your very own tour guide just for our twosome! I also didn't realize it would be so complete, with cars at each interval for just the 3 of us to connect us to the next stop, and lunch would be whatever we wanted to order at a wonderful restaurant--it was nearly a banquet. All this was wonderful but the particularly great part of it was our guide Lin. She kept to English for us (my bestie is bilingual but I don't have a word of Chinese) and not only gave us facts about our tour but steered us toward great shopping opportunities, made sure we were comfortable at every step (it was broiling hot), made great recommendations at our restaurant, and was so incredibly kind and welcoming and conversational, it was like we'd made an instant friend. She was so splendid a person to get to know that I would absolutely ask for her again on any and every tour for which she was available. If you are looking for something one-on-one and to eat great food, get this tour, and if you want a terrific person to be your guide do ask for Lin, she's just amazing!

From Alana (tour coordinator), to the private drivers, to our wonderful tour guide Jane - everyone was so communicative and made sure every part of the trip went smoothly. Travelling with 2 kids, we required alot of patience and stops and they were so accomodating. Next time I’m going on a tour, 5 out 5 going with Viator again!

Simply, a great trip. Our guide, Jane, was very well spoken, kind, polite, and eager to share her knowledge of her country. She handled all of the logistics smoothly from pick up and train rides to every attraction visit to our return home to the hotel. All went ever so smoothly. And, lunch was yummy and plentiful. If you're seeking a stress free and fun excursion to Suzhou, stop looking...you've found it!. Just book it... Also, we've used this tour company multiple times for our Shanghai visits. Were always happy...so happy that they are now our "go to" for any excursion.

this was a fantastic day out.Our guide was Kami a fantastic guide spoke enlish he met us at the hotel entrance car icked us up and away we went. We are both in our 70s but the pace was very good.the bulit train teriffic walking around the gardens our guide told us about the ying and yang the walled city boat trip all great. we stopped for lunch in a very nice Chinese restaurant it was my wife birthday and i had spoke to the lady who organised the trip for us regarding a dirthday cake well my wife had no idea and suprised to get the cake.Rickshaw ride was great and everything about the whole day was magical highly recomend.

My guide, KIMI has an excellent command of English along side with a wealth of knowledge in Chinese history. His timing schedule for the respective visits to the beautiful gardens were perfect. We covered pretty much in accordance of the planned itinerary. My visit to the lotus garden at Zhuozhengyuan was the highlight of my day trip in Suzhou. The entire ambience was breathtaking! Enjoyed it to the fullest.

Kimi met us on time at our hotel and gave us an excellent door to door tour to and of Suzhou. He brought us to a great restaurant for lunch and we had a great meal. Walking through the gardens of Suzhou were a great highlight for us. Definitely wear comfortable shoes as we walked approximately 7 miles and the gardens have many steps and uneven stone paths.

To start with, make certain that they assign Lily to you. She is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate and a problem solver extraordinaire! This is a full day, with walking, crowds and a great deal to see. Be prepared! In our case, we had to travel slower due to a recent injury. But Lily made things happen and we got through just about everything! We did cut the Garden short by choice, as this afternoon was incredibly busy to the point it was difficult for us. Again, Lily navigated around things for us. The included lunch was absolutely delicious, and plentiful. This was not “here’s what you get” - our lunches were ordered as we decided off the menu, accommodating different tastes and diets. Again, Lily handled this for us with ease and helped making tremendous choices. In short - this was a great tour and delivered a lot for the value. Again, ask for Lily!

We had a wonderful day trip to Suzhou. The tour started with hotel pickup, and then we took the high-speed train to Suzhou. The train ride was very fast and comfortable, only about 25 minutes. Suzhou is a beautiful ancient city and very well preserved. We visited one of the most famous classical gardens, enjoyed a boat ride, saw the ancient city gate and the Grand Canal, walked along the old street, and also experienced a rickshaw ride. The food was also very delicious. A special thanks to our guide Lin. She was very patient, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and spoke excellent English. She took great care of us throughout the day and made the tour very smooth and enjoyable. This tour is highly recommended!

Suzhou is certainly a place worth visiting for a day. A lot of history, many gardens, walls and other interesting places to see. An easy access by bullet train for a day trip from Shanghai. Kimi is a good guide and accommodated our preferences very well. Frank

This was our first tour incorporating a bullet train journey to another city, Suzhou, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Our tour guide, Kimi, navigated us efficiently through Shanghai Railway Station and ensured the boarding process was smooth and stress-free. After only a short wait, we boarded the bullet train and reached Suzhou in just 30 minutes. There were many highlights throughout the tour. The ancient Grand Canal in Suzhou was fascinating, especially considering its historical commercial importance and the significant role it played during the Opium Wars. The Panmen Gate fortifications were equally impressive, particularly from an engineering and architectural perspective. Pingjiang Road was vibrant and full of life, with locals and visitors creating a lively atmosphere. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Humble Administrator’s Garden, appreciating both its scale and the thoughtful beauty of its design. Overall, I would rate this tour very highly and consider it a must-see experience for anyone visiting the region.
