Lydia and Mike were great communicators ensuring we could easily locate the activity. Lydia was an incredible (and patient!) teacher for us- my husband, me and our three teenagers. We enjoyed learning how to make soup dumplings and pork spring rolls. Both were very tasty, although thanks to our lack of skills- some weren’t as pretty as others. This was a fun activity to break up sightseeing and get out of the summer heat. Highly recommend!

Chef Mike’s cooking class was the best cooking class we’ve taken. We have done several other cooking classes during our past travels and Chef Mike’s blew us away! Not only was the class very hands-on and engaging but we were also given typed recipes, video-taping of our time in class to help us remember what to do when we get home. His staff also took photos of us cooking. Chef Mike spent time getting to know us, he answered all if our questions and even gave us a video of him preparing a complicated ingredient that he felt we may struggle with when trying to do it ourselves. Highly professional class, great facility, exceptional teacher snd learning. Great value - you can’t go wrong taking a class with Chef Mike! Good was delicious and plentiful!!!
This was such a highlight of our trip to Shanghai. First, the setting was beautiful, a bright open kitchen with lots of natural light. Our chefs were so kind, funny, and helpful. And it was a huge success! Even our 8 year old was fully engaged and learned how to make xiao long bao. Of course the best part is sitting down to eat everything after! I can't recommend this experience enough!
An interesting cooking & cultural experience with the chef, Linda & her team. Well guided with easy & practical skills to make dumplings at home. Healthy ingredients used.
Definitely recommend this experience (and the night food tour) early on during your time in Shanghai. We loved cooking with the chef and learning the history. Plenty of food to eat as a result of your cooking too!
Really had a great time learning to cook. English is excellent. Menu is delicious, pace was great! Chef Mike is awesome and family style dining great fun afterward! Wonderful experience!
a great event with my daughter - we loved it, and very good service - would do this again with kids.
The experience was incredible! Chef Linda is super nice, a very good teacher and well English speaker. She taught us how to prepare the 4 happiness dumplings and the big wontons. They tasted wonderful at the end of the experience. There are also several other different options. We highly recommend it! Also the place is super nice and they explain well how to reach it.
Excellent cooking class, everything turned out looking amazing, would 100% recommend to anyone coming to Shanghai
Our instructor, Chef Linda, was very friendly and explained the dumpling making steps clearly in English. We were so happy with the results and could even bring our creations home to eat. She helped us throughout the process and even explained other ways to fold dumplings. Truly a pleasant experience worth trying!
We really enjoyed our first time making xiaolongbao and siu mai with Chef Linda ☺️ She made our experience fun and memorable! Nice piece of Shanghai to take home with us ☺️
A must do authentic experience in Shanghai. Mike was a patient and fun head chef who spoke excellent English. We made all our items from scratch and did all parts of the course ourselves. It was fun, learned some new skills in the kitchen, and finished it off eating it all with our Chef for lunch! We loved it!!💕 Authentic environment with a real kitchen 🥟Do yourself a favor and do something different than the typical tourist stuff! This is great fun and lots of food to eat too! We made Dumplings and Spring Rolls. Do it!!! You won’t regret it!!!
A must do authentic experience, Mike was a wonderful patient teacher with excellent English. We made everything from scratch and did all parts of the experience ourselves. It was so much fun, highly competitive in our family to see who could make the best Lol. We made dumplings and spring rolls and enjoyed them with our Chef Mike at the end of the course. Super fun, do it you will have a fun and different experience. Definitely orginal and not like a large tour - very personalized service
Experience culture through cooking! We so enjoyed our learning to make Dim Sum and egg rolls. We will always appreciate the skill and expertise that cooks bring to the table after trying our hand at making them. Chef Linda was so knowledgeable and helpful to “novice” cooks like us.
We had such a good time making soup dumplings and spring rolls with Mike. He is genuinely happy to teach his craft to everybody. I went with my son and his friend and we had varying levels of skill. Mike was patient and helpful to everybody. It was fun to learn how to make the soup dumplings and now that we know the secret, if something happens to us you know why!!! Lol. Help support Mike and his small business!!!
Mike was an awesome instructor and very accommodating to our 11yr old. It was our wish list to learn to make Shanghai soup dumplings in Shanghai. We loved every minute of making the Xiao long bao and Fried spring rolls. It was even tastier to eat them. Highly recommend this activity to any group.
Chef Mike was the best host!! We really enjoyed our cooking class. He made it super fun and we learnt how to make delicious dumplings and spring rolls from beginning to end. His English is amazing…thank goodness as my Mandarin is not good!! The whole family enjoyed it and it’s a memory we will have for a long time. Thanks Chef!!
We visited Chef Mike yesterday and had a wonderful time. We made xiao long bao and big wonton soup. Absolutely delicious. THANK YOU!
Great class! Mike was amazing. Our dim sum and spring rolls were delicious. Mike spoke fantastic English and is a very knowledgeable chef. Thank you for a great class!
If you are visiting Shanghai, you absolutely have to try this experience! I got this as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and we both had fun and learned a lot. Mike is such a friendly and competent chef and instructor and the recipes were realy tasty. I would definetly recommend Mike and this cooking experience!
Really nice cooking class with chef Mike. We made dumplings and spring rolls. The kitchen was clean. Higly recommended.
Great cooking class - we made spring rolls and dumplings. Both vegetarian and including meat is available. Definitely recommend to book and go!
Chef Mike was excellent. He is very personable and a great teacher. We made soup dumplings and spring rolls. We would highly recommend booking a class with him.
Our instructor was Chef Linda and she was great with us. We made xiao long bao (a steamed soup dumplings filled with pork) and Shanghai-style fried spring rolls. These spring rolls pack a lot of flavor from a small bit of pork, cabbage, bamboo shoots, and shiitake mushrooms. The trick to making anything fired healthier and light is to have your cooking oil on high heat and only fry for 10 seconds until spring roll wrapper turns golden brown. Both were delicious and we ended up with lots of leftovers.
Two friends and I did this cooking class on September 13, 2018 and we could not have had a better experience! Chef Mike is a fantastic cook and a wonderful teacher. He is also really fun to hang out with! His kitchen facility is awesome and has everything you need. We chose to make the pork dumplings and sesame balls and both turned out great. Chef Mike also gives you the recipes so that you can make them at home, and I plan to make them in the next few weeks. This class was great and I would 100% recommend this to anyone.
I haven't seen cooking class prices this low anywhere, and Mike was so good! Witty, didn't rush us, clearly thought out how he'd explain everything beforehand, very patient with our distractable teen who divided into halves three times, and wound up with 13 pieces instead of 16... Was just the 4 of us and Mike, calm location. Produced enough to fill everyone, gave us free beer to wash it down and take out boxes to bring some to my brother. Would go again.
We made locally flavored soup dumplings and egg rolls at a very nicely set up kitchen. The room is a little tricky to find from the street....not many signs. However, once you get inside, it's done in an industrial style kitchen, the cook and teacher speaks good English and is very patient to help you with some delicious recipes!

Small class, several dishes and a great instructor!

Having time to question techniques is a great advantage. Had tried to produce some of the Dim Sum using YouTube, but not as great as having the Chef right there and answering questions. Would take another Class when next in Shanghai.

Cooking class was really fun. The teacher was very kind and immediately corrected my wrong steps and I was really happy to learn how to make Shanghai Xiaolongbao in such a short time. After the lesson, the teacher also sent me a detailed video of how to make the frost, which was a great experience.
The chef "Mike" is very smiling. The course itself is very good. The difficulty is the concentration to close the ravioli in an aesthetic way. The only solution is practice...personally I practice with modeling clay. The chef gives valuable advice throughout the course. I highly recommend this course 👍
