They picked us up with a luxury van with a massage chair. Tour guide, Michael, is very polite and intelligent, he would talk low with the driver, conscious of us in the car. Speaks good English, have a sound knowledge of Chinese history and able to converse intelligently on most issues. The water town is magnificent, canoe experience superb, scenic and good history, food was good, people are polite. We requested that they drop us off at a mall to shop, when we couldn't book a taxi, we reached out to the tour company, they were incredibly helpful, booked a ride to drop us back at our hotel
The tour was in reality very pricey -a call from the office before asking for extra money for a hotel pickup was not welcomed -when we said we’d cancel instead they said we did not have to pay ! Very suspect Then the taxi on the way back was a strange experience with us being asked to get out if the car on a 6 lane highway -cross the road and wait on the curb side for 10 minutes for our original taxi to collect us
A very pleasant afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. A good contrast to the modern vibe of Shanghai. Communication from the organizer before the trip was excellent and the whole trip went very smoothly. Our guide was excellent, lots of information and really helpful. On the whole a worthwhile trip - the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars was the cost. I paid €250 on Viator which is overpriced for a half day trip.
Cora our English speaking guide was extremely cheerful and friendly. Her knowledge and explanation of all the cultural and historical information was magnificent. We thoroughly enjoyed her company.
Fun activity- great area for walking and getting out of Shanghai. Jun was a great guide very knowledgeable and friendly
This a beautiful town. We were picked up in a high end van with massage seats! From there, Annie, our guide, was very conversant about the area and even daily life. The area is beautiful. It’s a nice relaxing day with a boat ride.
Very polite and accommodating. The tour was well informative in a busy place. Food was great with a personal touch
I have booked the trip and I have the best driver - guide He show me the places and things I never see before This was my 4th time The best THANK YOU KEN 👍🙏
We really enjoyed our half day at Zhujiajiao Ancient Town. Our driver was friendly, courteous and right on time, and the car was immaculately clean. Flossie made the day special. Her English was excellent, and she was cheerful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with. She made the tour feel personal, sharing the village’s history through interesting commentary and taking the time to answer our questions. The ancient village was fascinating, and the boat ride and visit to Kezhi Garden were highlights. Highly recommend this tour from Sunny Tours Shanghai, especially with Flossie as your guide. Thanks for a lovely day!
They are very good. Ladies, and they help us a lot, and they explain everything they take care of us with the pictures, with sitting in the car coming down from the car. We love them both, wing and Cora. Thank you very much for them, and thank you very much for you to send us people like those little ladies
Nice, relaxing afternoon with a unique waterways. Kezhi Garden is the must-see attraction. We appreciate the guide, Cora and the driver Charles who helped us to have a wonderful day.
It was a perfect adventure, Robert was so knowledgeable and good to us. I would absolutely recommend this visit.
What a wonderful start to Shanghai! Michael was so knowledgeable and helpful, making our morning relaxed and informative. Lunch was delicious sitting right on the canal. Beautiful garden, lively street markets and quiet areas to balance the hustle and bustle. Really enjoyable morning.
It is a beautiful town, with great shops and food. Our guide was Lea, and she was wonderful. We were picked up from our hotel in Shanghai, and dropped off after the tour was over. Everything went smoothly.
Micheal was such an awesome guide. He was so knowledgeable on history and took such great care of us. Town was super cool. Highly recommend this tour.
What an incredible day! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the beautiful ancient Zhujiajiao water town and the boat ride. Our guide Maisie knew exactly how to get around and avoid the larger tour groups. She was also full of knowledge and we learned a lot of interesting facts both about Zhujiajiao and Shanghai itself. We would highly recommend this private tour.
It was definitely worth while. Our guide Maizy was experienced and so sweet and patient. I highly recommend this trip.

Excellent tour. Well-organized and interesting.. The guide, Michael, was super helpful and friendly.
This was a very interesting tour through the beautiful surroundings and scenery of Zhujiajao. Our guide Yun patiently walked us through the beautiful streets along the waterways and created a very enjoyable experience. There’s a lot to see in the town and lots of shops with a variety of souvenirs and food.
We had a wonderful trip to Zhujiajiao water town with our guide Maisie. She was very friendly and considerate and she was full of knowledge about the town. Her English was also excellent making conversation on a variety of topics easy and enjoyable. The trip lasted just under 5 hours (with a 1 hour drive there from our hotel and 1h15m back to Shanghai). Not knowing what we wanted to see at first, we moved fairly quickly through the first part of the town, but after our included garden tour and boat ride, we took our time on the way back to the car, sitting down to try out local snacks and browsing the shops (without any pressure from Maisie). The car provided was ridiculously luxurious with reclining and massaging seats. It had zero smell of smoke (and we have sensitive noses) which was a relief. We booked this trip the day before and were contacted by Sunny on Whatsapp a few hours later who then quickly confirmed that we could start an hour earlier than we initially booked.
The history of this beautiful area was felt more through the knowledge of the tour guide. It was easy to converse and navigate.
We had a wonderful experience on the Shanghai Zhujiajiao Water Town tour, and a huge thank you to our guide, Michael! He was friendly, informative, and extremely well organised throughout the day. His clear explanations and thoughtful planning made the tour relaxing and enjoyable from start to finish. Zhujiajiao itself was absolutely beautiful—truly something out of a postcard. The peaceful canals, traditional architecture, stone bridges, and scenic streets made it feel like stepping back in time. It is easy to see why the town is known for its picturesque waterways and historic charm. We highly recommend this tour, especially with Michael as your guide. It was a memorable and scenic escape from central Shanghai, and we would happily do it again!
This was a great experience and would definitely recommend it. My tour guide Maisie was very knowledgeable of the history of the town.
Another great experience! This tour to the water town was well organized from start to finish, and the absolute highlight of the day was the boat trip through the historic canals. Drifting past the traditional architecture and arched bridges gave such a peaceful, timeless perspective that photos simply don't do justice. My guide, Maisie, was wonderful. Just like my previous tour, the guiding was top-tier—she was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the town's history and local culture. She paced the entire visit nicely, answered all my questions, and made sure I had plenty of time to enjoy the viewpoints. If you are looking for a seamless, scenic visit featuring a relaxing canal boat ride, I definitely recommend this tour!
We really enjoyed our trip to the water town. Robert our guide and our driver Charles were very friendly, knowledgable and helpful and spoke excellent English. Very fancy and comfortable car. The town itself is beautiful and worth a visit. Highly recommend.
We had Jan as our guide, and he was great! Pickup was easy and the ride was smooth, with a very comfortable van. The town was beautiful, not very busy (we went on a Thursday) with lots of nice sites and stores. The garden was nice, and the boat ride was enjoyable, and we had a delicious lunch! I would say overall it was a little pricey, both in terms of the tour and some of the things there, but we really enjoyed our time and would definitely recommend!
It was a great experience, A place steeped in history and enveloped by a natural paradise, where anyone can find their inner peace.
Very lovely tour, Yun, my tour guide, was very knowledgeable and duper sweet, answered all of my questions. It was a beautiful place to visit
My guide was Lea and she was awesome. Very personable, engaging, friendly and enlightening. She shared the history and made the whole experience from start to finish very memorable. From the walk through the old town, the boat ride and lunch....all fantastic. Thanx Lea.
Excellent experience with Maisie. She is very knowledgeable and knew exactly where, when and how to guide us through the tour for the best experience possible! Had a great time and would recommend 10/10!
Tour was great. Timely pickup from hotel and easy trip out to the Water Town. It was great to see the more authentic and old parts of Shanghai and Chinese life. Michael was a very respectful and interesting tour guide. His English was great and we would definitely recommend him. The lunch was tasty too.
Robert was our guide today, and he was brilliant! I can’t walk very far or very fast, and he made sure there were places we could rest (as well as a bathroom break), and I’ve come away with my little one knowing so many cool facts about the place. It is a day I’ll never forget; it was perfect! ☺️ I highly recommend Robert as a guide, and the driver was very safe. I’m ambulant disabled and just about managed with the pace of the day. The only thing that was missing was having some slower time to shop - I would have liked to have tried some of the food stalls, but we were rushed through, and I really would have liked some warning (or provision) of mosquito spray, as we all got absolutely horrifically bitten. I had an itchy and uncomfortable rest of the trip with an agitated toddler, and these bites lasted over a week as I ended up with Skeeter syndrome (which, with my pre-existing medical conditions, was not fun). Definitely an oversight by the provider; our pickup and our guide, Robert, were great, though and definitely not their fault! Thank you! - Rachel and family
Our tour guide was amazing Super Informative and enthusiastic And gave us an excellent experience Highly recommend
Excellent combination of sights and history. Knowledgeable tour guide and excellent communication provided. Our guide Cora was excellent and really gave us a great overview of the town and its history. Very enjoyable
We had an amazing experience with Annie! The trip stared with a surprisingly luxurious transportation. We then really enjoyed the history and cultural lessons with Annie. She showed us around the markets and was so welcoming. We didn’t have to worry about any planning or trip details. We loved this trip as a way to venture outside of Shanghai and see some other parts of the city!
This was a great trip, I enjoyed every bit of it. Annie was super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. She gave great advices in making great decisions and even helped interpreting when the locals talked to us. She helped create a birthday cake idea for my son for his visit. Annie is superb!
Hun was amazing. She took us all over the water city and explained all about the city. I would highly recommend this tour.
Relaxing , beautiful surroundings and lots of shopping ❤️ no stress to walk around and if you have Micheal as your guide its a super day guaranteed for sure
Maisie was our guide .She shared very interesting facts and was very friendly and we spent a wonderful day seeing around the water villiage having a delicious lunch And a boat ride through the villiage. Maisie was very attentive to me when I said I felt hot ,she then produced a hand held fan for me to use A truly memorable day out with two of my adult children
The experience was incredible was very personal and amazing Ms Zhang and Flossie were very polite and super friendly
Maisie was very knowledgable. Patient and polite. Recommended if you want to get out of the bustling city of Shanghai.
Arrive right on time at the hotel. Comfortable car. Actually they have a driver and a tour guide - i.e. 2 persons coming with you instead of one. We tour a garden, have a boat ride and then walk through the market. The tour guide allow for several choice of activities. Overall a very nice experience.
Michael was very knowledgeable about Chinas history and was helpful every step of the way. He’s the best.
Our guide Maisie was helpful throughout the whole tour. She was able to answer all of our questions and was a fun guide to talk to. The convenience of the hotel pickup and drop-off at any destination afterwards was an added bonus.
Our tour guide Michael made this 4-5 hour tour one of the highlights of our trip to Shanghai. He was very friendly, knew the history of Zhujiajiao Water Town, provided great historical insights, was very accommodating to my partner's disability needs, and recommended an excellent place for lunch! We toured the gardens and bazaar, and took a boat ride on the canals. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the old town and took pics & videos of us. The only thing I regret is not getting a pic with him to remember our awesome experience! We also had great conversation on the way to/from Shanghai, as I was curious about the Chinese way of life and culture, and we learned a lot from him. I wanted to get some seals made while I was in China, and the first thing he did was take us to a local artisan's shop to have them made. He helped with translation and made arrangements for the seals to be delivered to our hotel when we returned from our tour later that afternoon. Well, he waited with us at the hotel until the artisan showed up with the seals. I did not expect such exceptional service! To sum up our experience, Michael was just awesome, and if we ever return to Shanghai, we will certainly request him to be our tour guide!
I cannot overstate how great this tour was. As well as the very friendly host, Robert, being informative, kind and easy to be with, I felt there was the added value of being able to ask him lots of questions about life on Shanghai. This meant I learned a lot about the real China. As I was the only person on the tour it could have been very awkward, but Robert and I got on like old friends. Also, Sunny was efficient and friendly to deal with, immediately agreeing to pick me up from my hotel (and drop me off) even though it was well out of her way. The vehicle was spacious and luxury and the driver excellent also. I was treated to an authentic Chinese lunch that I would otherwise not had the ability to experience if I did not have a guide like Robert with me. 100% fully recommend, it has definitely been the highlight of my stay in Shanghai so far.
Wow such a beautiful place! We loved visiting Zhujiajiao. It has such a historic charm. A really nice getaway from Shanghai. As an American, I loved seeing the culture of the town. The boat ride was very relaxing and beautiful. Loved visiting the traditional home and garden. Lunch was also delicious. Yun, our guide was very knowledgeable and helped us get great photos! The driver was also very safe and reliable and the car was super comfy and luxe. Thanks again!
We had a superb day. The village is breath taking. Our tour guide, Maisie was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. This is a well worth trip.
