We went to three local eateries and learned about dumplings and how to eat them. We also had noodles and then a special tea ceremony. Great local experience to learn about Chinese culture and Shanghai. Our guide was great!

Our guide, Han, clearly loved food and spoke English well. She took us to places that we would never dare try on our own; they were authentic and delicious. In between eating, we stopped for fruit, at a market and for tea. We did not leave the tour hungry. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and we recommend it for anyone who loves food.

I have been on many food tours and met many guides. Gin was an excellent tour guide and ranks top. He had amazing knowledge of Chinese food, culture, day to day life and growing up in China. He is very friendly, funny and charismatic. Makes you feel like you have known him for a long time. The foods we had were diverse and were at well curated places that we would not have had the knowledge to visit by ourselves. Each dish was amazing, not a single bad pick. Group size was small and Gin connected with everyone. If Gin had other tours I would go on them.

TJ was a fantastic guide through the streets of Shanghai around the Xingtiandi area. The group was just the right size, and very fun. TJ brought us to eat really yummy food, kept us safe during the walking tour, and also shared the history of Shanghai with us. The tour felt very special and TJ patiently answered all of our random questions. She kept the pace very manageable (brought my almost 80 year old mum on the walking tour). We got to sample a wide variety of snacks, food and drinks from all regions of China. Enjoyed the tour and it was a very fun and educational evening. Highly recommended!!

Our guide, Jim , is the best He was knowledgeable of the locations ( stops) he knew the foods and he was very patient with us. All of the traditional foods were amazing. The tea stop was superb. I Highly recommend this tour and ask for Jim.

We have recently booked the evening food tour with Shanghai Foodie Tours. We went to five different places, all of which were authentic food spots where local people were having dinner, ranging from small shops to a Michelin-appraised Restaurant. Food was great and plentiful, including noodle dishes, Xialongbao and more. There‘s some seafood as well but don’t worry if you do not like it, most was without seafood. Our Guide was Jade who was very friendly, funny and knowledgable about the local customs. I think some day I will try the breakfast tour as well. Recommend!

A wonderful experience with Jade, she is so fun and made the experience so comfortable! The range of food was fantastic and I was so so full by the end. You take a journey from small hole in the wall food places to higher end restaurants and she took care of it all. A definite must do when visiting Shanghai, you will not regret it 😀

I booked this tour for myself and colleagues who were visiting the city and wanted a unique experience. Our guide (Jim) reached out prior to arrival and gave me helpful instructions on where to meet. Our group (3) joined 2 others, and it was a perfect sized tour (5) for the walk and venues. Jim was so kind and knowledgeable, and he really took the time to offer history and a view into the day to day lives of those living in Shanghai and what they ate. Admittedly I was a curious as to the quality considering the cost - I am sure you can find cheaper tours), however all those thought quickly evaporated when we met Jim and headed off on our tour. We visited hole in the wall businesses, fruit and tea shops, dumplings and parks, soups and steam buns. My colleagues were very grateful for the experience and so was I - i would recommend wholeheartedly.

Our guide Gin made Shanghai's street food scene come alive on this exceptional tour. Gins authentic local knowledge, infectious energy and genuine desire to make this tour fun for all turned every stop into a culinary adventure. This was a fantastic group tour through some of Shanghai's best street foods with our guide, Jade! I never knew there were so many types of soup dumplings and each one packed with flavor. Noodles, desserts, bbq... you will not leave hungry! They were also easily able to work with someone in our group who was allergic to gluten, providing her with plenty of alternative dishes so she could experience the foodie side of Shanghai right there with us. 3 hours will pass in a blink of an eye because you're enjoying everything from the food to the company to the stories of life in Shanghai. I highly recommend this tour!

We had an exceptional evening with Han! 🇨🇳✨ We visited authentic local spots and tried a delicious variety of Chinese food, including dumplings, noodles, some tradicional tea experience and a traditional Chinese barbecue at the end. Everything was incredibly tasty, and nothing was spicy, which was perfect for us! 😋 We also enjoyed drinks included in the experience, such as beer and a traditional Chinese alcoholic beverage. This was such an incredible experience because I would never have discovered these local places on my own. Han is extremely attentive, polite, and welcoming, and her English is excellent. She also studied in England, which made communication very easy. I highly recommend this tour without hesitation! 💯 I would absolutely do it again if I returned to Shanghai with friends. It was a wonderful way to discover authentic local food and experience a side of the city I would have otherwise missed. Thank you, Han, for such a memorable evening! 🥢❤️
