I stayed at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan and it was honestly one of the most satisfying hotel experiences I've had in recent years. From the moment I arrived, the hotel delivered the kind of refined luxury and attention to detail that fully justifies the Waldorf Astoria name. The property feels elegant without being overly formal, combining modern design with a strong sense of exclusivity and comfort. A major highlight of the stay was receiving an upgrade to a large suite. The suite was exceptionally spacious, beautifully appointed, and felt truly luxurious rather than simply oversized. Every aspect of the room, from the furnishings to the bathroom and living area, reflected a high level of quality and craftsmanship. It was the kind of accommodation that made me look forward to returning to the hotel after a day out. Service throughout the stay was outstanding. Staff were professional, polished, and genuinely attentive, consistently anticipating needs before they became requests. The entire hotel operates with a level of hospitality that is increasingly difficult to find, even among luxury properties. Dining was another standout feature. The hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant delivered an exceptional experience, with high-quality ingredients, excellent presentation, and service to match. It was one of the best meals of the trip and reinforced the hotel's commitment to providing a true luxury experience rather than simply offering luxury accommodations. The location in the rapidly developing Qiantan district is attractive and modern, with upscale shopping, offices, and dining nearby. The only downside is that reaching the core business and commercial areas requires a bit of walking compared with some hotels that are directly integrated into major shopping complexes or transit hubs. It's not a significant inconvenience, but it is noticeable. Overall, Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan combines luxurious accommodations, exceptional service, outstanding dining, and a sophisticated atmosphere. The suite upgrade elevated the experience even further, making it one of the most memorable and satisfying hotel stays I've enjoyed. For travelers seeking true luxury in Shanghai, it sets a very high standard.

I am lucky enough to have my flight cancelled from a typhoon (dolphin) to stay an extra day. The friendliest most aesthetically pleasing place! It is nice to not be in the busy area, and there is great shopping and food options walkable from here. With that said the food here is off the charts and will be eating only here tomorrow. Thank you for the hospitality. You will not be disappointed.
Location is not convenient to any restaurants or activities. It’s hard to locate as well. Entrance is not easy to find and a bit confusing. Rooms are very nice and new. This is a new accommodation opened in 10-2025. It has a nautical feel but ground level is a bit confusing. Parking is complimentary. Food is expensive so make sure your room includes the brunch. Brunch is very good for the ala cart items but just average for the self selected items. Customer service is good but seems very stiff and not friendly! So I marked it down one star. English is spoken. Over 45 mins to Pudong International airport with some traffic. Plan ahead!
The exterior and surrounding environment are beautiful. The facilities are complete and comfortable. There are plenty of service personnel. However, it appears that Chinese state-owned assets are involved in its management. The behavior of the service personnel exudes a communist spirit.
A very new property in the upcoming Shanghai Qiantan district. An island of peaceful luxury which for now is a bit isolated (there is a new Tai Koo Li shopping about 30 min by foot). The panoramic deluxe room design is very nice and well built. The views over the West Bund are spectacular and show a different side of Shanghai. On Sundays, the brunch extends until 2:00 pm and the food is made from fresh ingredients of very good quality. The gym and the 25-m-long swimming pool are very enticing. The staff is not yet at the level of the Waldorf Astoria on the Bund but they are trying hard and they will get there. Note that there is no ATM machine at the hotel and getting a taxi may take longer as usual. Otherwise a very good and relaxing experience and I will definitely come back.
