The St. Regis on the Bund offers a truly memorable stay. The room was exceptionally comfortable, and the view was absolutely stunning – we could see the Bund right from our window, which made the experience feel extra special. The service throughout our stay was professional and warm. Staff members were always ready to help with a smile, and the luggage packing service was particularly impressive – it made our departure so much easier and stress-free. That said, there was one minor issue during our stay: one night, a lamp in our room stopped working, and it took about an hour for maintenance to fix it. While it was eventually resolved, a quicker response would have been appreciated. Overall, it was a wonderful stay with just a small room for improvement. I would still recommend this hotel for its stunning location and high-quality service.

Just an overall mediocre experience, especially considering the brand and the price. Booked via Amex FHR and did not get a room upgrade. Understand it isn't guaranteed, and the check-in staff offered fruit instead which I thought would be great for my toddler. Well, they never delivered fruit. I also asked to get my keys in a rush because my toddler really needed to sleep and the check-in staff still fumbled and made the wrong keys. Overall English language abilities in the hotel are also barely passable. Wanted to get dinner at Spago but it was closed out for the evening on a Saturday, which they never told us about. The room itself is way too kitsch, trying too hard while having an inconvenient layout. They did provide a crib promptly with toddler amenities which was nice. The room cleaning staff were very nice and excellent. There was a staff member in a black suit managing the turnabout out front that started a yelling match with a car that was making a U-turn. Really unbecoming. Upon checkout, when asked about my experience, I said it was just okay, and the person nervously laughed and said nothing. Not really what you'd expect for a hotel that advertises a butler service. Overall, would definitely not return. I wouldn't even return at half the price (paid $600 USD per night).
A very serious RED FLAG about this Hotel (under the Marriott Group) On the night of 26 September 2026, while my partner and I were entering the hotel through the revolving door, the door suddenly stopped. My friend's left face hit the edge of the door, resulting in a cut and bruising. On‑site staff provided ice and some basic first aid materials. She also took photos of the wounds and completed a guest incident report after physically examining my friend's injury. The hotel’s subsequent handling was deeply disappointing. After reviewing CCTV footage, the hotel placed FULL BLAME on an unidentified child who rushed into the revolving door. It claimed the hotel bore no liability at all and suggested we sue the child or the child’s parents, yet could not identify who the child was. The incident was only handled by the Assistant Front Office Manager and was never escalated to the senior management. After check‑out, the hotel never proactively followed up on my friend's injuries at all. Our request for a copy of the CCTV footage was refused; we were told we would have to travel back to Shanghai in person to view it. Photos taken of my injuries at the scene were only provided after repeated follow‑ups. The Director of Rooms misrepresented the facts, claiming I had refused to complete the incident report. Although the matter was escalated by us to the CEO of Marriott Group and the Office of Consumer Affairs with all supporting documents, the GM of the Hotel emailed us and kept denying liability and challenged the photos I took at the revolving door. We did not seek any financial compensation. We only hoped the hotel would acknowledge safety gaps in its facilities, issue a formal apology and explain improvement measures. As long‑standing loyal Marriott guests, our Mid‑Autumn Festival trip turned into a nightmare. A luxury hotel should not shift blame and evade responsibility when a guest is injured on its premises. For travelers considering to stay at this hotel, please consider our experience and think twice before booking.
We had a terrific stay at St Regis. The rooms are luxurious and new, location and the view is perfect. St Regis should be proud of their staff, we have been fortunate to stay at many luxury hotels and resorts, but their staff here are really like none other. We want to specially thank Summer K. There was some minor reservation issues at the beginning but she went above and beyond resolving it for us and made our stay truly special. 10/10 would love to come back again.
The best hotel I stayed at during my two-week trip to China , and I stayed at some great hotels on this trip. What I loved about the St. Regis was how intimate it felt, especially in a city where everything seems huge. The staff was extremely attentive and always genuinely happy to help. Special shoutout to Bella Chen at the Italian restaurant on the top floor. I arrived at 2:15 pm hoping to have lunch, only to find out the kitchen was already closed (restaurant hours in China can be a little tricky!). She saw my frustration, went to speak to the chef, and somehow made it happen. I ended up having a great meal. The amenities are excellent, breakfast is outstanding, and the decor feels sophisticated.I also loved the location, close to everything, but not right in the middle of the crowds, which for me is ideal. On my next trip to Shanghai, I will definitely stay here again.
