I stayed at the Shanghai Marriott Hotel Yangpu Riverside and unfortunately can't recommend it. The front desk staff had very limited English, which made communication difficult during check-in, and despite being told check-in was at 3 PM, I ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes past that time. The breakfast selection was fairly standard with nothing memorable, and the hotel's location was a major drawback — there was nothing within walking distance, not even a convenience store nearby. Overall, between the language barrier, the check-in delay, and the inconvenient location, this wasn't a hotel experience I'd choose again.
Room is huge and comfy. Towels and robes are very soft and clean. Bed and pillows are ok, abit too soft for me as I like it firm. Shower has strong water flow.
View - construction site, bridge.. not the best
Frontdesk, concierge and crews are very helpful and try their best to help even if they dont speak much English. I appreciate them going the extra mile.

A short walk to a wet market, a mall and shops. Theres tuktuk if you get lost.
New hotel, but all about efficiency. Gym available, pool too but closes very early. No recognition of Bonvoy status. In front of hotel they are building a new something, so it can be noisy. Location a bit away of everything interesting, even shops.
promoted as a new Marriott, but it is a refurbished Wyndham, not that this is bad, just fyi. I wanted to try a new hotel in Shanghai this trip so gave it a shot. overall, unless there is a reason to be near yangpu I probably wouldn't choose this again unless the price makes it worth the extra taxi/didi expense. but, no real complaints either.
About 10-15 minutes walk from the nearest metro station. Wonderful hotel. Modern rooms, nice executive lounge with a good selection.
Swimming pool and gym are lovely. Even has one English movie channel and news.
My go to hotel in Shanghai.
