Shanghai Donghu Hotel

The food at this hotel was very scary. We ordered beef and we believe it was dog meat. Our entire group had to go to the hospital after eating at this place. It was horrible. There were roaches screaming on the walls, which was extremely nasty. The service and the rooms were dirty and unbearable

Expected more for our money. The room is TINY - no closet, no safe, and the toilet for the smallest room is in a red tinted Perspex box in the corner of the room - absolutely 0 privacy. However the location is perfect and the bed is really comfy and the room is clean.

The room is tiny. No closets , only one drawer underneath the night stand . Stayed there 5 nights and started getting claustrophobic. We basically lived out of our suitcases because there is one rack w four hangers to hang our coats . Very little counter space as well The room and bathroom are clean. Newer building so it’s up to date , has smart toilet. The lobby is tiny also . Not like you can walk and walk inside a building. You basically come back to hotel and hang in your room. No sofa ! The thumbs up is the 25 meter swimming pool that the hotel contracted w the gym that is attached to the hotel ( if you swim) but that pool is open to MEMBERS and some of them don’t want to share a lane with you. I find that unpleasant. Service is excellent. Also if your room number is 7404. That means your room is on the fourth floor and the first number ID the building. It’s a hotel collection !

The Donghu hotel is a big and well placed hotel close to lots of comercial and business zones in Shanghai. The rooms are wide enough, clean, having the must needed services. The zone is quiet, but close to a wide variety of restaurants and shops. In front there is a brother hotel (Donghu collection hotel) where is possible to use the gym or swimming pool. They have a nice restaurant (open at 7:00 to have the breakfast. And later open to take the lunch or dinner. Not alcoholic drinks available, by the way). The desk staff was always friendly and giving all possible support. They speak English without any problem. The price is reasonable (they accept credit and debit cards and the other regular possibilities to pay in China)
