Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel On The Bund By Nanjing Road

​The hotel location is great. It is close to Yu Garden, and a short walk further takes you near the cruise dock. ​However, the room condition was quite disappointing. Although it was supposed to be a non-smoking room, there was a strong, stale cigarette smell, making me think it was a smoking room instead. It got cold at night, so I turned off the air conditioner, but the fan noise kept running. The noise was so loud that I couldn't sleep. After contacting the front desk, the noise stopped, but cigarette smoke started entering the room, making it very difficult to breathe. ​Unfortunately, I didn't get her name, but I would like to thank the female staff member who was very kind and helpful during check-in. ​However, there seems to have been an error regarding breakfast. At check-in, I requested and paid for breakfast for one day. But when I went to have breakfast, I was told that there was no record of my request and was denied entry, which was quite confusing and frustrating.

The location of the Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel is excellent, especially if you want to explore Yu Garden, which is only a very short walk away. The hotel itself is very nice, and I really enjoyed the Club Lounge for both breakfast and happy hour. The main lobby breakfast was also excellent, with a huge selection of delicious food and plenty of variety. Overall, the service was great. I had arranged an airport transfer through the hotel before arriving. It was quite expensive compared with other transportation options in Shanghai, but after a long flight it was extremely convenient to have everything organized in advance. The gym was perfectly fine for what I needed and being open 24/7 was a big plus, especially since jet lag had me waking up around 2–3 a.m. most mornings. Overall, I had a very good stay and would definitely stay here again. The location, breakfast, lounge, and service made it a very convenient choice for my trip to Shanghai.

I had a wonderful stay at the Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel. The location is excellent, making it very convenient for exploring Shanghai and getting around the city. The hotel itself is comfortable, welcoming, and very convenient, with everything you need for a pleasant stay. A special mention goes to Icarus and Charlie at the Club Lounge on the 17th floor. Their hospitality, kindness, and professionalism were truly exceptional. They made us feel genuinely welcomed and went above and beyond to make our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you to the whole team for the wonderful experience. We would definitely be happy to return!

Wonderful hotel, convenient location near famous Yu Garden and the old Shanghai districts. Clean spacious room. Well maintained property. Make sure smokers stay away from entrances. Attentive service by all staff. Plenty of delicious breakfast choices. In the corner near coffee machines, there was one young tall helpful staff wearing striped shirt, who may be sick. He should be wearing mask or should not handle food.
