I stayed for 5 nights, the experience was unpleasant. 1. The hotel is really old and the room is not clean. 2. Security of the hotel is not good, many non residents and strange people hanging around at the entrance and lobby, especially at night time, the feeling was really bad.

Rooms and location is good. Well appointed hotel. Breakfast spread is good but would recommend to add some choice that are vegetarian without eggs. Overall service is efficient but front desk could be warmer.
Accor Platinum member here. While we had a really nice experience in email communication with the reservation department and Nancy who was wonderful, our stay in the hotel was deeply disappointing. Never tried other Pullmans in Shanghai, but this is far from what we expected: - We booked executive suite for 2 adults and 2 kids in advance and was promised that the room will be ready for 4 when we arrive well after midnight. At the front desk also confirmed that during the check in, but the room was ready only for 2 people. I couldn't get them on the phone. I had to go down to the front desk at 1am to complain. They sent housekeeping to make a sofa bed and bring towels and other stuff for kids. It took 30-40 minutes, it was 2am when we wen to bed. - We had a lot of bags, no one helped us with luggage which is really bad for 5* hotel. - No welcome note or any welcome amenities which should be provided for platinum members. Nothing. - Room was really not clean, carpet was really dirty, the floor around toilet was disgusting. The hygiene standards are different in many hotels in China comparing to the western world. - We couldn't find place to sit during the breakfast, the crowd was huge and the staff couldn't be fast enough to clean the tables and fill up the food, so it really looked chaotic. The food was really tasty and lot of choice though. - Most of the staff was kind really, they provided breakfast boxes on request on our check out day. - Lobby and the restaurant looks really nice - Lounge was well below the Pullman standards with limited offer - Location is great if you plan to travel by train (or use a metro), we used DiDi only so it was not a plus. - We arrived from several Pullman properties in Vietnam and it was a different world really, in every single aspect. Coming from Pullmans in Vietnam to Pullman in Shanghai is like downgrading from 5 to 3 stars. - We won't come back, there are many better options in Shanghai. Accor properties are not good option in Shanghai, even with Platinum status.
Excellent hotel in downtown Shanghai 5 min walk from the railway station which is very convenient when arriving/departing. Lobby is big and clean and all the staff was very kind. As a family of 4 we took 2 rooms and both were very spacious and clean, with very comfy beds and great bathroom. Outstanding breakfast, best of all 7 hotels we changed during our two week China tour. Amazing Chinese, oriental and western dishes with plenty of salads, fresh fruits and cakes. Excellent swimming pool - pretty big with perfect water temperature open 7 AM to 9 PM (must have a swimming cap). Hotel I highly recommend for Shanghai visitors
Our stay at Pullman was considered decent. Location is good as it is near to the Shanghai Railway station as our initial plan is to make a day trip to Suzhou which we scrapped as our Alipay couldn't work on the night we arrived. To that, we want to thank Ryan who helped us out a lot that night to test our Alipay account using the hotel POS machine which thankfully worked later that night. There is a metro line near the hotel as well. The reason why I chose Pullman was not just because of the location but also the brand reputation and which is why there were certain expectations from the hotel. The hotel lobby, the staff and their breakfast spread is good however the room itself need to be upgraded. The doors on some of the rooms along our corridor has a gap between the door and the door frame. There isn't enough hooks for us to hang our clothes and the wiring for some of switches need to be re-wired as it kept turning on the lights in other parts of the room when we turn on and off our toilet light. In addition, one of the housekeeping staff came knocking on our door several times at around 745 am on our second morning. After feedback to Ryan, he made a remark on their system and it did not happen again. Our stay for the rest of our trip went pretty well. Service and location of this hotel is good but some of the rooms need to be maintained therefore gave 3stars
