Mercure Shanghai Yu Garden

1. Before check in. Please reconfirm your booking first. 2. The hospitality is shanghai style. But i'm still impressed. 3. The location is the best 4. Accross the hotel is, a small mall. Lots of food. And local grocery store 5. The room view is only another building beside 6. You can send luggage from airport to this hotel 7. Free welcome drink. 8. They also offer upgrade breakfast and room 9. Small gym room available 10. The breakfast has good variety and great taste. Also fresh 11. The laundry and dryer is free. Detergent and softener is include. It is freee 12. They have robot to deliver to your room 13. If you need more water, they can give it to you 14. Emergency device to help if there any heart attack.

Good location, not far from Yu Yuan Garden by walk, helpful and supportive personnel will assist and do their best for guests' comfort. Not everyone speaks English, but it was not a big problem. I got early check-in and help with transfer to the airport.

A bit Dated, But Managed to Hide It (Stayed in from April 5 to April 6, 2026) Although Mercure Shanghai Yu Garden is pretty recent hotel, it seems like the hotel actually replacing a hotel that had exist dating back from 1990s. The most obvious is the building exterior using classical style that used to be very popular in China during late 1990s. Thus could be a strong indicator to estimate the actual age of the hotel. Most of the area had been extensively renovated, making the interior look modern like typical 2010s built hotel. The floor layout, however, retaining the original layout. The bedroom was very spacious. The bed was also very large. However, the bedroom had painted with color that strengthen impression that the hotel had already dated. Otherwise, the bedroom seem to be fine. For the bedroom, the score is 9 out of 10. Lighting at the bedroom was adequate. A large sofa placed near the window. Even after placing the luggage at the floor, there was lot of area for walking or running. For the practical, the score is 10 out of 10. The bathroom wasn't as large as the bedroom. The bathroom sink area was large, but the shower and toilet had small area. For unknown reason, both of the shower and toiler area lack of adequate lighting. For the bathroom, the score is 8 out of 10. Strangely, the restaurant for the breakfast had medium size area. Pretty small for a hotel that was built in 1990s. Despite this, there were large amount of menu varieties. The taste was great. For the breakfast the score is 9 out of 10. Mercure Shanghai Yu Garden offering free supper during night. At that time, I ate a bowl of wonton and vegetables. For unknown reason, almost all staffs at Mercure Shanghai Yu Garden can't speak English at all. Seem odd as the hotel was seen received lots of foreign visitors. Also, it was a foreign brand hotel. As result, communication with the staff had to rely with translation apps.

All credit goes to Mr Che ( handsome courteous young man) & Mr Ming for their cooperation during my group visit for 4 nights in Shanghai during our stay. Only my request to cooperate and give better facilities to our Indian Chefs in their kitchen for which they had difficulty and some equipment was working slow which we had informed but later it was not functioning and was told that wire has been burnt for which I had to pay Y 200 as damages .
