Jw Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai Pudong

Very modern and newly furnished JW, great view and breakfast, friendly staff, will revisit when I’m in town for sure. It was refreshing to stay in a proper and real JW. Unlike some in Japan which is HORRIBLE and should be ripped off the title (Yes, JW Nara I’m talking about you) 🤗

Overall, a very disappointing experience. There were three major issues during my stay: 1. Poor Check-in Experience: It is clear the front desk lacks proper training. The new employee checking me in couldn't answer basic questions. 2. Uncomfortable Room Environment: The AC clearly stops running when the room is empty. Every time I returned, the room was overwhelmingly hot and humid—a sharp contrast to the perfectly cooled hotel elevators. The hallways were also very damp. 3. Unprofessional Marriott Chat Service: The staff on the app selectively answered my questions and instead asked if I was a Platinum member. They should already have my status in their system. More importantly, what does my membership tier have to do with my dining inquiries?

We enjoyed our stay, and overall it was a nice experience. However, if I'm being fair, I can't give it five stars. I travel frequently and stay at many five-star hotels, so I believe a 4-star rating is more appropriate. The biggest area that needs improvement is the service. It was often slow and did not meet the standard I expect from a luxury hotel. At breakfast, no one greeted us with a simple "good morning," and the service was very limited. Used plates remained on our table for a long time without being cleared. Housekeeping also needs improvement. I would rate it 5 out of 10. When I checked the room, the floor was not properly cleaned, and the bathtub was still dirty. That said, there were many things we really enjoyed. The Kids Zone was fantastic, and my daughter had an amazing time there. It was one of the highlights of our trip. We also enjoyed the in-room dining service, although we felt the quality of the food could be better. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would consider returning. With improvements in service, housekeeping, and food quality, this hotel has the potential to truly meet the standards of a five-star property.

I recently stayed at JW Marriott Marquis Pudong from 26/3 to 5/4 and the experience was spectacular! The view was breathtaking and the service went beyond my expectation.
