Stayed here for one night after being at another 5-Star hotel and the J-Hotel has truly set the bar. Wonderful stay the entire time and felt like true luxury. Staff are extremely helpful and prompt with service, a few staff members speak decent english. So many excellent touches that made this hotel feel like an experience and not just a quick stay.

Our stay at the J Hotel Shanghai was exceptional from start to finish. The service was flawless—every member of the staff was professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The hotel itself is stunning, with an elegant and distinctive design that creates a truly luxurious atmosphere. Our room was beautifully appointed, spacious, and offered every comfort you could ask for. The location is also perfect, making it easy to explore Shanghai while enjoying spectacular views from one of the world’s highest hotels. Overall, an outstanding experience. I would highly recommend the J Hotel Shanghai and would gladly stay there again.
This is the second nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. Everything from the drive way to the lobby to the room to the restaurants to the employees are very nice. Very luxury throughout the whole place. I think this is an especially great hotel as a foreigner, as they most employees speak some English and the complimentary breakfast does a great job of blending asian cuisine with more familiar foods for a picky eater like myself. Also, obviously nothing beats the view either.
This is actually the highest hotel in the world, located inside Shanghai Tower, and the views honestly feel surreal especially during sunrise and sunset. The room was spacious, quiet, and super comfortable. It came with a Dyson hair dryer, a fully stocked minibar, and Acqua di Parma amenities. One detail I really loved was how futuristic everything felt — you can order room service or chat with the concierge directly through the iPads in the room. Breakfast was amazing too, with both buffet and à la carte options. There was pretty much everything: Chinese breakfast, western dishes, noodles, pastries, egg station, desserts, etc. The afternoon tea / lounge hour was also way more extensive than expected — steak, lamb, desserts, ice cream, coffee, tea, and alcohol 🥂 Overall, the hotel felt luxurious, peaceful, and very different from a typical luxury hotel experience. Service-wise, everyone was very polite and professional, but I’d personally give it a 4/5. Compared to places like St. Regis, the service felt less personalized — for example, they didn’t really acknowledge our anniversary, birthday, or remember our names throughout the stay. Still, it was an amazing experience overall, and I’d definitely stay here again if we come back to Shanghai 🥹 As for the price… honestly idk, I just followed my husband around lol 😭
This is the review of Yi Lounge, I have not stayed at the hotel. The views are absolutely incredible. That part fully lives up to expectations. Seeing Shanghai from that height at night really does feel surreal, and there was even a private room open when I visited where you could step in and take photos or videos of the skyline, which was a really nice touch. The cocktails were also very good, and the snacks served with them were surprisingly good as well. Service was excellent throughout the evening - very attentive, very polite, and warm without being overly formal. My only issue was the actual lounge space itself. Online photos are honestly a little misleading because they mostly show the hotel lounge areas, which are gorgeous. Yi Lounge itself feels much smaller and simpler in reality. The whole layout is kind of narrow and curved, almost like sitting along a ring-shaped hallway around the building. In some spots it genuinely feels like there’s just a wall directly behind you and not much else going on design-wise. I think I expected something more open, more dramatic, and a bit more luxurious considering the location and the reputation of the hotel. Instead, the view ends up doing most of the heavy lifting atmosphere-wise.
