I only stayed one night here. Everything was very good. The hotel is located about 200m south-west of the south entrance of Shanghai Railway station. If you don't have a lot of luggage and the weather is good, then you can easily walk there. Important to know: The location on Google Maps is wrong! Look for the Intercontinental garage, this is the location of the hotel! The room I got was very nice, with a nice shower room and separte room for the toilet. The food and drinks offered in the lounge on the 2nd floor were marvelous, really good for a hotel lounge. It was not croweded at all, only a few people came. I did not have time for breakfast, since I had to catch an early flight. It takes about 45min to 1 hour to get to Pudong airport from the hotel (by Didi).

The place was great overall, from the concierge who greeted us to the receptionists who spoke basic English, so I had no trouble talking to them. Even as an IHG Platinum and Ambassador member, I didn't get any special treatment or a room upgrade. The room itself was perfectly designed and spacious, good for a long stay and had everything we needed, but some parts looked a bit old and could use some maintenance. Breakfast was a bit disappointing in terms of quality and taste, especially the coffee machine which was slow and tasted bad. Room cleaning was excellent, and I had no problem adding
The InterContinental Shanghai Hotel Jing’An (Puxi) is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at. It’s an upper scale, beautiful hotel with a lot of amenities, including a pool and fitness centre. The room and bathroom were both very spacious. The bed was super comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, the shower had great pressure and the toilet/bidet was top of the line. Plus, the room had plugs to accommodate every traveller, including North American, USB-A and USB-C, so there was no need to pull out the travel adapters. The breakfast buffet was extensive, with lots of Chinese and North American options to satisfy everybody. We also had executive lounge access for happy hour. The cocktail menu was extensive and the buffet decent, although not all items were continually replaced, like certain popular hors d'oeuvres. Two minor inconveniences we encountered were bathroom related. It took several minutes to get hot water out of the sink tap (the shower was fine) and the shower pan wouldn’t drain because it wasn’t sloped properly. Overall, though, this is a great hotel, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
Excellent example of Intercontinental Hotels. 4.5* business focused, but luxury vibe. Rooms have some dated features, but still very high end finishes and a comfortable experience - more so than any other Intercontinental I've been to. Highly recommend for great value and luxury intersection. PS, also unexpectedly gracious treatment of platinum status visitors.
InterContinental Shanghai Jing’an delivers a stay that feels polished, comfortable, and quietly efficient, without trying too hard. Check-in was seamless. After a long journey, that first impression matters, and the process here was quick, smooth, and handled with professionalism. The room stands out. Spacious, well-appointed, and thoughtfully laid out, it strikes a good balance between comfort and function. Everything feels in place, from the bed to the workspace, making it easy to settle in whether you’re staying for business or a few days of downtime. Service is another highlight. The staff are consistently friendly, attentive, and present without being intrusive. It’s the kind of hospitality that makes your stay feel easy rather than orchestrated. Breakfast, while generous in spread, is where things plateau a bit. There’s plenty to choose from, but the menu doesn’t change much day-to-day. If you’re staying longer, it can start to feel repetitive despite the variety on offer. Location-wise, it sits in a quieter part of the city. It’s not right in the middle of Shanghai’s main attractions, which means a bit more travel time, but in return, you get a calmer, less hectic environment. A fair trade, depending on what you’re after. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a comfortable, well-serviced stay in Shanghai, especially if you value space, ease, and a slightly slower pace away from the crowds.
