This place smells like heaven, breakfast has a wide variety of excellent food, a cool bar with nice food and drinks. Its close to the metro station, so a good base hotel.

Not inter con or 5 star service. The kitchen staff shouted at me when I asked a simple question at breakfast. Maybe he had a bad day or his voice decibels super high. Either way you shouldnt shout to your customers. Lacking in facilities and for the ones they had difficult or near impossible to use with many restrictions and conditions. Could do with more fluent english speaking staff for foreigners that stay there
Great business/splurge hotel. Rooms huge and filled with modern amenities. Good views facing west. Internet is fast and reliable. AC is good springtime. Good setup for receiving packages and food delivery. Bed and (lack of) noise comfortable. Front desk staff nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. IHG Rewards works here. Buffet is incredible for quality, atmosphere, variety (hot, cold, Chinese, German, Japanese, even some Indian, desserts). Conveniently located near the NECC convention center and walkable to Line 2 Biggest issue is access: walking from metro is easy, but if driving in from the east, you remember to enter the small side road from the main road, otherwise you need a long detour to reenter the area. Floors are huge, so if you get a corner room, prepare for a long walk.
As I grow older, I finally come to appreciate InterContinental hotels. I've been reviewing hotels for years, and I realize I rarely praise for IHG. I don't stay at their properties very often, nor do I use their IHG One Reward program. I always thought InterContinental leaned too heavily into a business-oriented style. Chasing after various hotel brands over the years, I ended up overlooking it. I picked InterContinental Shanghai Hongqiao NECC out of all eight InterContinental locations in Shanghai. And honestly, it hit me, I finally understand its charm as I grew older. Built around the MICE industry, InterContinental has always excelled at operating hotels attached to major exhibition venues. It serves as the key hotel partner for two of China's largest events: the Canton Fair and the China International Import Expo. Its strength speaks for itself. It may not dazzle you at first sight, but it grows on you the longer you stay. With reasonable rates, it delivers consistently solid and pleasant experiences.
Conveniently located next to the national exhibition center. Plenty of road signs from the West to South gate use this hotel as a key landmark. Metro line 2 is within walking distance. Across the street and over a cross bridge is a food court and international shopping mall, plus some sort of office complex. On the other hand, the surrounding is terribly dull without much entertainment. The "fun" part of the city is half an hour by metro away. No nature's beauty to speak of either. Hotel staff is patient and helpful. Some of them struggle a bit with English but nothing a translation app can't fix. The lobby can get quite busy. Room card is required to use the elevator. The scanner is below all the floor buttons and can quite be easily missed. The room's interior design was incredible. Shame I was too stunned to grab a photo or two. Didn't try the bathtub but I should note that the shower took forever to heat up. The overhead shower was rather nice once the water heats up though. You won't get that very often in this part of the world versus the more common handle-type shower head, which is also available here.
