Hyatt Regency Shanghai Songjiang

Room is hot, but the AC did not work. Temperature would not go below 23.5 deg C (74F). I tried to switch to another room - same situation. Totally unacceptable.

I’m an American Globalist with Hyatt. I travel a lot - over half the year I live at hotels. This was the worst hyatt regency I have personally experienced. The room was hot and the air conditioning did not allow it to go above 23°. I did not encounter any hospitality. There was no welcome gift. I was only upgraded to a deluxe room although on the website Regency suites were available for purchase. The room smelled like cigarettes - it was a typical old, stale cigarette smell. The toilet was frequently clogged up. The curtains were not blackout. The breakfast - I couldn’t find anything there I would eat other than a piece of toast and a boiled egg. There was a lot of fried food at breakfast. Overall, I personally did not enjoy my stay and I would not come back.

The hotel's 3 PM check-in time is highly unreasonable. We arrived around 1 PM with our children and lots of luggage, only to be told our room was still being cleaned and we couldn't check in. They kept us waiting continuously. By 3 o'clock, it still wasn't ready, yet they asked us to keep waiting with our children in the 33-degree Celsius heat. After finally entering the room, we then saw a notice on the table stating that the glass curtain wall would undergo maintenance in the coming days, requiring guests to keep balcony windows and room curtains closed...... What a ...... hotel

The rooms are nice appointed, but there is only warm water, and although there is AC, the room temperature stays at 23C, which is just too warm to sleep under a duvet after a hit day walking the streets. The food in the lobby restaurant is quite good with a good mix of western and eastern dishes, and the service you receive is fast and friendly. The bar is expensive, the beer served is warm.
