I don’t really understand the negative reviews on this hotel. Dollar for dollar, the value is exceptional. I arrived late on a Saturday evening for my first time in China, nervous because I needed assistance combining multiple reservations because I had pieced together my stay based off of patchwork availability on the app and Trip.com. A front desk agent named Sterling Chen helped me by combining them all to avoid having to check back in and out, kept me in the same room the whole time AND upgraded me to a 22nd floor club room with a view of the bund skyline. Thanks to his kindness, I enjoyed free breakfast everyday in the club and complimentary happy hour. The view from the rooftop bar is absolutely unbeatable — and free for guests! I just walked up, took photos and left, no pressure to make a reservation or buy a drink at all. Just lovely. On one of the days, a staff member named Mikki Li kindly helped me navigate to a local pharmacy for pain medication. I really hope my review reaches both of the staff members. This service was tops and I so appreciate their patience. My only complaint about the hotel’s location is only that the metro is 15 minutes away on a mostly cobblestone road, which would be a bit of a hike with luggage. The plus side of that is that it’s a beautiful walk through the scenic Bund. I would definitely stay here again.

The location and amenities were excellent, the service could use a little improvement. For such a high price and an international hotel chain I would have expected more English speaking personnel. Getting issues handled was a bit difficult, therefore. Additionally, one of my groups room was only free from 9pm on the day of arrival. After a long flight this was a bad surprise!
5 star in name only. Check in was delayed an hour due to room cleaning not having been completed. Tiles and interior look worn in places. Washroom smells strongly of urine/ammonia when the bathtub is draining - like public washroom levels. The view of the bund is nice from the room, but that's about it.
Stayed there 2 nights with my family in July. This hotel is definitely not 5 stars like Google stated. It’s 3 stars at most. The room is decent size but not very clean. And the view is really depend which side they put you. Thr hallway have smell (dirty carpet). The bathroom in lobby is dirtier than some malls in pudong. The hotel porter who bring out luggage to the room was waiting for tip even china don’t have such tipping culture. Only positive thing is short walk to the bund.
We stayed at the Hyatt and were pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to a room on the 15th floor with a view of the tower. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The bathroom was a real highlight – modern and well designed, with his and hers sinks and a lovely bathtub that made it feel quite luxurious. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. The location is also excellent, making it easy to get around and explore the area. Would definitely stay again.
