Very large rooms however clearly not well maintained with poor overall experience. The place is next to line 1 metro station so I guess location not so bad. I would not recommend, there are better options in Shanghai if you are looking to stay in the area.

This hotel is past its prime. Large rooms but not well kept and very weird vibes in the common areas. I booked it baed on the NY Times recommendation. I left after 2 nights for Andaz Xintiandi which was much better. The best part: The architecture and a building designed by Mario Botta. What is good too: its location, very close to the subway and within walking distance of fine restaurants and design shops. The immediate neighborhood is pleasant. Furniture and carpets seriously need a refresh. The rooms and bathroom are very spacious and design associate Chinese and european touches. The worst: the common areas of the hotel / ground floor: There is a "weird" nail & massage parlor not far from the reception desk. The bar seems always dead and for the weirdest touch: there was a vlogger who was, for several hours a day, streaming / screaming her lungs out at the back of the main corridor close to the spa entrance. If you secure a rate for less than USD 100.00/night, that could be a good option - would not stay there otherwise.

5-star review Excellent stay with warm hospitality from Mr Galvin Tang. From the moment we arrived, the service felt professional, sincere and welcoming. He made the check-in experience smooth and ensured that we were well taken care of. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, with a calm and elegant design. I liked the relaxing seating area, the large twin beds and the overall peaceful atmosphere. The corridor and common areas were also well maintained, giving the hotel a premium and quiet feel. As an IHG One Rewards member, I truly appreciate service that feels personal and attentive. The hospitality made the stay even more memorable and enjoyable. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience with excellent service, comfortable accommodation and a relaxing environment. Highly recommended.

Really great hotel. It is located in the French Concession which is an absolutely beautiful area of Shanghai. There is a Metro under the hotel which takes about 5 minutes to walk to from your room to boarding the train. The staff were all great and attentive, and it was easy to get a didi rideshare everywhere. Also the area was very safe and clean as was the hotel. The room was very beautiful and thoughtfully decorated, and the room had everything I needed. It was quite a luxurious stay and very good value for money. If I were in this area again I would consider staying. My favorite part was the breakfast buffet! Such delicious food and a wide selection.
