Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao Xiangyuan Hotel

I had a great experience with Iris Wei and Kaitlyn Xiao and wanted to share my experience. Before booking, emailed a few questions about and reservations Supervisor Iris replied quickly, clearly and helpfully. Check-in was fast and friendly. The front-desk Kaitlyn remembered my earlier email and had everything ready. Throughout the stay the team was attentive without being intrusive, small requests were handled promptly, Overall a very positive experience from the first inquiry all the way through checkout. I would happily stay here again and recommend it.

In a world that often feels divided, moments of genuine human kindness remind us of what truly connects us. This is such a moment. Two very young travellers (19 and 22), visiting China and Shanghai for the very first time, became ill during their stay at the Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao. Far from home, weak, inexperienced and overwhelmed, they suddenly found themselves vulnerable in a foreign country. From Switzerland, I tried to help from a distance, carrying the quiet fear every parent or friend knows when loved ones are unwell far away. What followed was not simply hotel service. It was humanity. The hotel staff responded with calm, dignity and sincere care. And one person, Mr. Tom Wang, stepped forward in a way that will never be forgotten. He personally went to the room, spoke gently with the young guests, reassured them, and helped organise what they needed. In that moment, he represented something far greater than a hotel or a brand — he represented trust between people who do not share the same language, culture or country. What could have become fear turned into relief. What could have been loneliness turned into connection. The young guests are now not only impressed by Shanghai and China, but deeply moved by the kindness they experienced. They will carry this memory for the rest of their lives. And so will I. This experience shows that true hospitality is not about luxury, efficiency or five stars. It is about seeing the human being in front of you and choosing to care. The only Hilton housing Xinrongji inside its premises Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao sits in the heart of Hongqiao CBD, directly across from One Gubei. Xinrongji occupies the second building of the hotel. Boasting over 600 guest rooms, the property is built predominantly for business travellers. Still, most guests check in chiefly for easy access to premium Japanese cuisine.

Racism,Discrimination & additional room Deposit payment. The hotel itself is beautiful, with comfortable rooms and a pleasant overall atmosphere. The food was okay. What disappointed me most was being asked to pay an additional room deposit of 1200 before checking inn, on top of the accommodation fee, for "damages" while other 8 guests in my group ( non black) did not seem to be asked for the same, even though our travel arrangements were planned and handled by the same travel agent. When I requested clarification, the explanation given was vague and unconvincing. This left me feeling uncomfortable and wondering whether I was being treated differently unfairly. It was also not clearly explained when or how the deposit would be refunded. Another major downside was the internet connection, which was extremely poor. If you are staying here for work or need reliable access, you may need your own independent internet connection. Overall, the hotel has a lovely appearance, but the handling of the deposit situation and poor internet service negatively affected my experience.
