Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai

The Grand Kempinski Shanghai is a very good hotel, particularly for its spacious rooms, excellent views and outstanding service. The rooms are impressively large for a hotel in Shanghai, and many offer beautiful views across Pudong and the surrounding cityscape. The real highlight, however, is the staff. Throughout my stay, everyone was exceptionally friendly, professional and welcoming. The service was consistently attentive, and the team genuinely made a positive impression. The hotel is quite large, which means it does not have the most intimate or boutique atmosphere. More importantly, some areas of the property, including parts of the rooms and public spaces, are beginning to feel dated. A substantial refurbishment would make a significant difference and help the hotel better match the quality of its staff, location and overall potential. That said, the Grand Kempinski remains a comfortable and reliable choice in Shanghai. With its generous room sizes, impressive views and exceptional hospitality.

We stayed at the Grand Kempinski Shanghai for a week, combining business with leisure, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel for its excellent location, stunning views, outstanding service, and comfortable rooms. We also had access to the Executive Club, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. As a GHA DISCOVERY Titanium member, I especially appreciated the staff going above and beyond when I asked about 0.0% beer. Although the hotel didn’t stock it, they kindly arranged to get some from outside the hotel. That level of service was truly appreciated. My only suggestion for improvement would be to pay a little more attention to the lobby area. At times, some people seemed to treat it as their own living room, which slightly affected the otherwise elegant atmosphere. Overall, an excellent hotel that I would happily stay at again.

I would totally recommend this hotel due to the location, the view, the service. We spent a week at this hotel with access to the club. Enjoy every moment of it. The only thing I would suggest to the hotel is to perhaps watch out people who sit around in the lobby. Many of them treat it like home couch.

love the location of this hotel, very nice view of the river and a park. walking distance to the pearl tower and a few malls around it. perfect for us who prefers a bit more quiet compared to puxi. the rooms are ordinary, but great location and surrounding. concierge was very helpful with our taobao packages, which is a major plu spoint these days. recommended!
