Unfortunately this place wasn't good. We got through the first night without enjoying it, and started looking for somewhere else right away. We moved hotels the next day.

Had a great stay. Check in was easy and quick. Very friendly and helpful staff. English is enough to comunicate without too much problem. Room was nice, beautiful, and clean. Its quite big but the bathroom is a bit too small. Comfy bed, nice pillow, great amenities. Some bottles of water is free at the room with tea and coffee provided. Room also have safe deposit box. Breakfast is okay, same daily menu, a mixture of west and east style breakfast. Location is great, not far from the metro station. Some minimarkets and restaurants nearby. Beautiful spots around the hotels.
Golden Tulip New Asia Hotel definitely deserves a full five-star rating. All of the staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent service throughout the stay. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the overall value for money was impressive. This hotel is especially recommended for travelers who are sensitive to cigarette smells. We requested a non-smoking room in advance and received a truly smoke-free room with no unpleasant odor at all, which made our stay much more relaxing. The location is also convenient, making it easy to get around Shanghai. Highly recommended.
I honestly think Golden Tulip New Asia Hotel Shanghai is one of the best hotels to stay in Shanghai, especially for its location and service. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the city. It’s close to the metro and within easy reach of major attractions like Nanjing Road, The Bund, and North Bund. Getting around Shanghai from here is super convenient. What really stands out is the service. The staff go above and beyond in every aspect. From helping us with our luggage upon arrival, handling and safely storing our Taobao deliveries, to even assisting us in bringing everything up to our room—it was all smooth and hassle-free. Housekeeping was also excellent—very responsive and genuinely helpful, especially when we had a lot of packages to manage. The lobby staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. No bad attitude at all, which made the experience even better. One small detail that made a big difference: they were very generous with bottled water. We could request as many as we needed without any hassle—simple, but really appreciated. The bed was very comfortable, exactly what you’d expect from a good hotel—perfect for resting after long days exploring the city. A couple of minor things to note: since the hotel is located on a main road, there can be some noise at night, but it’s still manageable and not too disturbing. Also, the AC felt slightly warm at times, but nothing too major. Overall, the value for money is excellent. With its strategic location and top-tier service, Golden Tulip New Asia Hotel Shanghai is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting Shanghai. Highly recommended.
I had a very disturbing and unacceptable experience at this hotel. My friend and I booked what was advertised as a regular massage, but it turned into something completely inappropriate. The masseuses repeatedly tried to seduce us, touched us without consent, and even suggested “upgrading” the package to include sexual activities. Despite clearly saying we were uncomfortable and rejecting their advances, they continued to touch us inappropriately, including private areas. This was deeply distressing and amounts to sexual harassment. Even more concerning, it seemed that the hotel staff were aware of this and supportive, as if this was a regular practice. It felt like the hotel had arranged this deliberately, which is completely unacceptable in a professional hospitality environment. This was not just unprofessional — it was unsafe and extremely disrespectful. I strongly warn others, especially families, solo travelers, and anyone seeking a safe stay, to avoid this hotel.
