Overall, I enjoyed my stay, but there are a few areas where I think the hotel could improve. It’s a historic hotel, which gives it a lot of character, but it also feels like not much has changed over the years. I think there are plenty of ways to modernise parts of the hotel without losing its historic charm. The car entrance was a little confusing, and no one really helped us with our luggage when we arrived. The room was nice and spacious, but it did feel quite dated. The bathroom, on the other hand, was modern and really well done. I think if the rest of the room was updated to match the bathroom, it would make a huge difference. The staff were friendly throughout our stay. There were a few slightly awkward interactions, but I imagine that was mostly down to the language barrier. Breakfast was probably the biggest let down. What was available was good quality, but the selection felt quite limited, especially considering the price of the hotel. The location is definitely one of the hotel’s biggest strengths. Being right by the Bund made it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. Overall, it’s a charming hotel in an excellent location. With a few updates and a better breakfast selection, it would be an even better place to stay.

I stayed for 4 nights in a suite at Fairmont Peace Hotel, and it was truly one of the highlights of my trip to Shanghai. What stood out the most was the exceptional service. Every staff member I encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely friendly. Communication was effortless throughout my stay, as the team spoke excellent English, so there were absolutely no language barriers or misunderstandings. The suite itself beautifully reflected the hotel’s rich heritage. It was spacious, classic in style, immaculately clean, and very comfortable. While many luxury hotels focus on contemporary design, Fairmont Peace offers something increasingly rare—a sense of history, character, and timeless elegance. Staying in a suite for four nights allowed me to fully appreciate the atmosphere and unique charm of this iconic property. A special mention goes to the Fairmont Gold Lounge, which was undoubtedly the highlight of my stay. The afternoon tea and snacks were excellent, with a generous selection of sweet and savory offerings served in an elegant and relaxing setting. It quickly became one of my favorite places in the hotel to unwind after exploring Shanghai. The location is another major advantage. Situated at the beginning of the Bund, the hotel is perfectly positioned for sightseeing. Simply stepping outside the hotel, you are immediately greeted by the iconic views of the Bund and the stunning skyline of Pudong across the river. Whether during the day or at night, the scenery is spectacular and makes the experience even more special. The only minor drawback was the swimming pool, which felt a bit small compared to what you might expect from a luxury hotel of this stature. However, this was a very minor issue and did not detract from the overall experience.
Had an amazing stay at Fairmont Peace Hotel, one of the most iconic and historic hotels in Shanghai. Located directly on the Bund, the hotel perfectly combines old Shanghai charm with modern luxury. I stayed in the American Suite, part of the hotel’s exclusive Nine Nations Suites collection. The suite was beautifully designed with classic details, spacious interiors, and incredible views overlooking the Bund and Lujiazui skyline, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, and Jin Mao Tower. Dining throughout the stay was excellent, especially at Cathay Room and Dragon Phoenix. Afternoon tea and evening views from the terrace were also memorable highlights. The location is unbeatable, right on East Nanjing Road with easy access to many of Shanghai’s top attractions. Combined with attentive service and the hotel’s rich history, this was truly one of the most memorable stays I’ve had in Shanghai.
We absolutely loved this hotel—the location is unbeatable! We arrived on an early flight and went straight to the hotel to drop off our luggage. Although we came back before the official check-in time, the staff took such great care of us. You could really feel their warmth and attentiveness. They even offered us access to the spa so we could refresh, as we were quite tired and ended up falling asleep there. What truly touched us was that the staff noticed this and proactively prepared our room early—without us even asking and well before check-in time. We completely understood the standard policy, which made their gesture even more meaningful. That moment really won our hearts. Throughout our stay, everything was exceptional—the service, facilities, room, breakfast… everything. It’s honestly hard to describe just how amazing it was. We truly love this hotel and will definitely be back. Highly recommended to everyone!
