Unfortunately, this hotel didn’t quite meet our expectations. The glass wall to the bathroom was… an interesting design choice. Check-in wasn’t be possible before 3 PM, and we couldn’t use the Wi-Fi because my surname was too long to fit into the registration field, so I couldn’t be verified as a guest. The location also wasn’t ideal for us. One thing to note is that the pool can only be used with a swim cap, and women are additionally required to wear a one-piece swimsuit. Overall, there are better options in Shanghai.

I have ever had. The service was terrible, and the overall quality was abysmal.
had to change rooms twice. The rooms smelled horrific. and after just one night, I was covered in flea bites that were unbearably itchy--which is why demanded a room change
To make matters worse, there was no clear distinction betweer complimentary and paid bottled water. When I drank it assuming it was free, they charged me. When I asked the front desk ta double-check. the staff member literally yelled and lost their temper at me in front of other guests.

I had a very pleasant stay at City Hotel Shanghai. The experience was quite good, especially because of its excellent location. The surroundings and neighbourhood are vibrant, modern, and full of great restaurants, cafés, and shopping options, making it easy to explore the city on foot.
The hotel offers good value for money, and the staff were courteous and helpful throughout my stay. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in a convenient and lively part of Shanghai.
I stayed here last November to run Shanghai Marathon. The room was awesome. The breakfast was ok. The only downside for me is its half a mile away from the metro stations. I think what's nice about this location is its surrounded by residential units with businesses and its really good to try local homemade meals.
The staff all speak English, which was very helpful. Breakfast was good, especially the tiramisu. The view is nice, and the pool is great for swimming.
The location is very convenient, close to many trendy areas in Shanghai.
However, the room is quite small for two people. The hotel feels a bit old, and cleanliness could be better, especially in the bathroom!
