Baseplus-binjiang Serviced Apartment

Conveniently located but, the rooms are very basic. However, for the amount that we paid and the number of people staying in the two bed apartment we definitely did get good value for money.

​It seems that most of the positive reviews of this place are because guests stayed here for a short while. My cousin stayed for two weeks and was provided daily cleaning, water and large toiletries compared to the tiny bottles (that they don’t refill) my family of three were given (and our free cleaning was only once a week). ​Even though we stayed about a month, they don’t provide more clothing hangers and toilet paper, and even though at least the bathrooms were clearly renovated, the cabinetry and wardrobes are old. Despite being a family of three, they only had 2 mugs, 2 plates and 2 sets of silverware (we asked for more and they refused). They also only provided 2 keycards for the three of us; I don’t understand the logic of that if we’re all going separate ways for the day. The wifi is occasionally slow and unreliable, and another unfortunate thing is the apartment is near trash collection. The apartment’s design doesn’t make sense: the lights for the living room are all the way inside rather than in the hallway leading to the front door. The single bathroom requires you to open the door and turn on the lights behind the door. The shower floor is completely flat, so you need to push the water towards the drain after showering, or there’ll still be a puddle hours later after turning on the vent. ​There are some positive aspects to this place: the location is decent, relatively near metro line 13 that takes you to good downtown locations for tourists like Xintiandi and Huaihai Middle Road. The washer-dryer combo that’s provided is convenient and nice. The staff at reception have been great, there’s a cute kitty living in the billiard room. The apartment also has a robot that’ll deliver food/items to guests, which is fun to see. If you have pets, this place is very pet-friendly; a lot of guests with dogs live here. The fitness center is sizeable, with several ellipticals and treadmills, and even weight machines if you use that. One thing to note is the staff only provide 6 towels and 6 bottles of water each time they arrive. I didn’t use the fitness center in the mornings, but if you go later, it’s better to go ~12 to 12:30pm because there won’t be towels or water (probably all taken by the morning gymgoers) until they arrive close to 1pm to refill everything. I think this place is probably great if you’re staying here short-term, but I don’t recommend this place long-term and my family and I won’t be coming back again. 6.5
