My recent stay at Artyzen Habitat Taopu Shanghai from 20th April to 24th April with an Indian group was a largely positive and professionally managed experience. The hotel is located in the Taopu area of Shanghai, which is more business-oriented and sits approximately 12–15 km from the main city centre and popular shopping districts like Nanjing Road. While not ideal for leisure travellers focused on shopping or nightlife, it is well-suited for corporate groups and business stays. The property is modern, well-designed, and offers comfortable rooms along with good facilities including a swimming pool, fitness centre, and multiple dining options. A special mention must go to the hotel management for being magnanimous in allowing our Indian Chef and his team to prepare breakfast and dinner for our group—this gesture was deeply appreciated and made a significant difference to our stay. I would like to sincerely commend Ms. Jane Zhang and Mr. Carl Liang at reception. They were outstanding—polite, extremely cooperative, and highly professional, especially during our check-in and check-out processes. Their proactive approach truly stood out. Additionally, the housekeeping team deserves appreciation for maintaining rooms diligently with daily turndown service. That said, a few areas need improvement. The shower temperature fluctuated between warm and very hot, which was inconvenient. Bathroom lighting was inadequate, making it difficult to distinguish the mames on the toiletries. The absence of a health faucet was also a drawback. Elevator management was chaotic, out of four elevators one of the lift serviced only certain floors. Lastly, the lobby restroom lacked liquid handwash, and water pressure was excessively high, causing splashing. Overall, a pleasant stay . If you have transportation then you are covered, for leisure travellers it becomes expensive reaching to the main city center. Traffic can be a real downside. Warm regards, Alan Woods
Located near the metro just 5 mins walk and surround by a convenience store and few cafe. Staff cannot really speak english but they have pocket translate. Amenities are not provided in the room, if you need anything will have to ask from the concierge.
Hotel is quite new but far from Shanghai city center where the main touristic attractions are located. Room is big, clean and has everything needed, including a small fridge, big screen TV and relaxation place. The bed is big and comfortable. Breakfast has many choices and is delicious. Highly recommended!
Clean rooms. Free washer and dryer by the gym. Okay breakfast. However rooms and bathrooms are small, the staff doesn’t know what toilet paper is (we asked in English and Chinese three times and we got tissue paper 3 times). In walking distance there’s a metro station, FamilyMart, Starbucks, a tea place, a Hualian supermarket and an empty mall that has a downstairs food court with decent variety of foods and drinks. All the neighborhood is under construction or office building. Wouldn’t stay here again, too small.
