The guide was phenomenal and a true enhancement to the experience. We were in the city at the last minute and so we didn’t have an opportunity to buy a ticket in advance so this was our only option. But I highly recommend hiring a personal guide anyway.

I paid a very high price of 95 euros for visiting the Alcazar in Seville, and 10 minutes before the tour time, when I was already there at the door waiting to start the tour, Viator canceled it….. And now I am waisting quite a lot of time trying to get my refund. Zero customer support…..
Our tour was cancelled and so we wasted an entire morning and we weren’t able to rebook our trip. We are now leaving Seville having not visited the palace and so we are very disappointed!
Melissa did a wonderful job. The only weird thing is how you meet the line holder. Who were all great. Handing someone your passport seems a little sketch but after the experience it is understandable. Seems like there would be a better way than having to have people spend the night outside to get you in queue. So, thanks Adriano! Frans messages matched up and all went well! Melissa was a ball of energy and fun! I liked that she referred to our group as family. I would pick her to give us a tour again. Also, in items she did not know she was open with no ego as a learner herself.
I recommend booking a guided tour and avoiding queue for visit to Alcazar with Viator. We were welcomed by Jose who you meet in the morning while he buys your tickets. Melissa guided us on our tour. We really enjoyed our tour. Jose and Melissa were a pleasure to meet.
It was a good and informative tour. However you have to meet a member of the tour team in at 8:45am to buy the tickets for entry on the day which isn’t stated when you book. I booked this last minute in order to see the site but if you pre booked months in advance I would think you’d be disappointed having to queue for the tickets. Once you get the tickets and meet with the main guide you do skip the line to get in. The tour guide Luis was knowledgeable and informative. The group is fairly large and you are given headsets to hear the guide. Tour was about 1.5 hours and you are free to explore the gardens at your leisure when it ends.
All as advertised. Extremely knowledgeable guide. About 20 in the group. Booked relatively late. Operator was able to an on the day ticket. Process was well communicated by email and sms
The Alcazar is a must see in Seville for a reason, it's impressive and beautiful. Melissa, out guide, made the visit fun and informative.
Definitely worth a visit, beautiful space. Our tour guide Melisa was wonderful, such a ray of sunshine and so fun to be with, she seemed like she was genuinely having fun, friends with everyone, and worked to engage the group along the way. I’d definitely take another tour with her. I’m surprised by how short the tour was, and how little information it included. We had to do another loop to see the rest of the space, and go into rooms that we didn’t go into. Not the fault of our guide—she only had an hour with us, and filled it wonderfully. The entire cost of the experience is for last-minute bookings when tickets are no longer available. They have to pay people to wait in line from 4am to get day-of tickets (very limited). It works, but it’s a very strange system. We had to meet our line waiter (who was lovely!) at 8:45 before the sales window opened so that we could show our passports for the tickets. For this, the cost is justified, but if you can get tickets directly on the site, they’re way cheaper and you don’t miss much value in doing so.
The guide/translator and the 2 people we met to get the tickets where really nice people. We have nothing against them as people. We paid about $200.00 to get the tickets as they where sold out. There where about 300 people in line to get tickets the same way we did. For $200.00 we had expected a very small group and an excellent guide. This very nice women who was our guide but had such a strong Spanish accent that I could not understand 90% of what she said. She was speaking fast and pointing at things and talking about them and was moving so fast that I was challenged keeping up and trying to see things. There was just under 30 people in this tour. So, along with the place being very crowded I spent a lot of time just trying to keep up. Again, she was a very nice lady but the accent was too strong and she spoke so fast that I just got nothing out of this tour. I have no idea what I saw or what the history was about. I felt that for $200.00 it should have been a much smaller group and with an English speaking guide that was more understandable. Another thing that was quite frustrating was the quality of the ear piece they used was so poor that if I could not keep up because of the crowds the sound would cut out till I got close enough to regain sound. The sound quality was not very good and I have gone on tours with much better equipment. Final thought: IF you go on one of these tours, Ask how many people in the tour... Confirm the quality of the equipment... Confirm the guide has great English with no accent or a very minor accent... We saw groups of 4 and 6 with excellent guides moving slower and speaking much slower... That's it!
Enthusiastic guide (Melissa). Just the right amount of information & history. Although quite expensive.
Absolutely AMAZING and was given great directions and communication to get there.
The company did not have the tickets in advance. So we had to turn up at 0845 to go in the queue for tickets. We only entered at 10am and the tour guide was very friendly but low on detail and only showed us some of the major rooms and finished after 1 hour. Not good value for the price
Melisa was absolutely amazing! She made our Royal Alcázar tour such a wonderful experience. She was engaging, funny, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She made the whole experience fun, memorable, and truly special. Melisa is honestly one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had! Highly recommend!
Shorter than you would think. The guide was entertaining, but not especially informative. But the Alcazar is a really unique and great experience.
Viator pass this to a 3rd party local operator,.who guide hardly spoke english, also price of ticket face value was 15 euro we paid 133 euro for two, its a con really but only way to get tickets at short notice, also still have to queue whilst guide just buys tickets at face value, queue is literally over 750 yds 4 deep waiting for hours and only 2 people serving tickets at any rime max of 30 per hour places
The tour was great. Melissa. was a wonderful guide, her English was very clear and was quite personable. . She was very knowledgeable and pointed out many things that I would not have known if I went on my own without a guide
Helpful guide! The guides purchased our tickets so we could skip the blocks long line. Our tour was early so it was not busy and our guide left a meaningful understanding of the combined cultures who lived well together in appreciation and peace. We loved the embrace of Andalusian distinct culture. Thank you for a great experience!
Good experience. Great job obtaining tickets for us - service was excellent. Guide was knowledgeable but accent was too heavy and he was super boring
They have a weird system where someone stands in line for you but it worked fine for us. Everyone we dealt with was professional and friendly. The guide knew what he was talking about and was interesting.
Excellent tour with Maria as our guide. The extensive history and its impact on Seville was very interesting. The surrounding gardens are magnificent. We highly recommend the tour.
Read the reviews, and the tone deaf response from the “boss” as we heard him described. We were too foolish to buy 16 euro tickets ahead….so we turned to an outrageously priced package of $100+ to provide the tickets and tour. As you will read in these reviews that works, sometimes. You show up at 10am and off you go. But for many of us there’s an oh-so-sorry to inconvenience you text the day before telling you to show up at the LINE for same day ticket sales at 8:45 to join their very nice, bleary eyed worker who’s been standing in line since 5am to buy same day tickets the boss didn’t get in advance. No amount of dithering texts back and forth get’s the boss to take responsibility. Tour guide Miriam was energetic, and knowledgeable. I am likely an ugly American in this respect, but her accent and rapid speech made her 50% unintelligible. That’s on me, I guess. Tour was 1.5 hour. If you read these reviews you’ll see it is never, ever, the 2 hours advertised. Recommend you buy tickets way in advance. If not, go with some other price gouging tour.
Worth getting skipped the line and the tour guide Juan was engaging and funny. We were able to stay after and enjoy the gardens.
I purchased tour with Alcazar ticket included which is 15.5 euro regular adault. When I was notified i have to buy ticket myself next morning due to Alcazar requirement, I was eligible for senior ticket of 8 euro. The tour operator gave me 8 euro cash afterwards. I think the tour price is calculated for regular ticket, in essence I was over charged for the ticket price difference. The tour itself was a little hurried I spent another 3 hours after group was disassembled.
I'm sure this was a wonderful tour so I didn't want to rate it super low, BUT, day of, we got a notice of overlooking, so our tour was canceled. Wait time at Alcazar was several hours... so not for us this trip. Seville itself is a gorgeous city and we enjoyed our time there. Alcazar next time ! Book early! We didn't v and lost out.
Overall the tour was great, and the guide was helpful. Where the issue was, is in the fact that they tell you this tour includes the price of the ticket, and it explicitly does not. The tour operator reached out the day before saying they would have someone stand in line for us, and we would then need to pay for the tickets with a credit card, despite already having paid for the tour, which was supposed to include tickets. The tour operator had said the person standing in line would reimburse us with cash, but they never did. So it ended up being more expensive (and seeming a little sketchy) than it was supposed to be
It's a great experience! Melissa is the best guide ever! Highly recommend!!! The palace is amazing and very well preserved!
Real Alcázar was worth early morning to get ticket. One of the guides arrived 5am to hold our place at front of the line. Only 300 tickets/day. Juan who led us through the site was engaging and very knowledgeable. Beautiful historical place!
My review is based on the fact that I paid for a 2 hr tour but only received a one hour tour. We started at 10am from the meeting point and the tour ended at 11:08am which is unacceptable. I would recommend that you book through Get A Guide or another company.
Unfortunately the guide did not show up, we where at the meeting point from 9:45 am and just before 10am I started calling the tour guide with no answer
This tour was expensive but worth it in my opinion. It’s a guided tour of a around 1.5 hours - you’re in a group of around 15-20 people and you stick together as a ‘pack’ with a personal ear piece to ensure you can hear the guide. Our guide, Melissa, was excellent! She’s from Seville and her pride and knowledge shines through in her commentary and guidance. My darling Dad has difficulty walking and so we relied on a wheelchair and Melissa as well as the group of strangers we were with pulled together to help me navigate the palace. They were obviously all very kind and considerate folks but Melissa helped set this tone. A special shout out to Jose Carlos for helping us navigate the booking and meeting the group, For other travellers with accessibility needs - please don’t miss out on the Alcazar. It’s not easy to navigate but it’s doable. They are ramps and small steps but people are very willing to accommodate you. This tour was the highlight of our time in Seville. It’s an architectural marvel and provides a real lesson on the ability of the human race to coexist and unity in our diversity.
Unfortunately, I waited too long to book and was purchasing tickets less than two weeks before our arrival. This tour was one of the few options left, so I ended up paying over €90 per person—and it was definitely not worth the price. When I booked, the tour was listed as starting at 10:00 AM. However, the day before, we received a message saying we needed to arrive at 8:45 AM with identification so they could secure our tickets. This was frustrating, but since we were traveling to Seville and didn’t want to miss the experience, we adjusted our plans. When we arrived, our contact spoke very little English, despite this being advertised as an English-language tour. The process was disorganized, and although we had been told we could leave for breakfast after securing tickets, we ended up waiting around until 10:00 anyway. We were eventually assigned a guide who spoke decent English, but the tour content itself was underwhelming. There was very little context or depth—honestly, it felt like something we could have gotten from an audio guide. For over €90 per person, I expected a much higher-quality experience.
The tour of the Real Alcázar was vey enjoyable because the site itself is magnificent. The guide for our tour was very personable and made the visit even more enjoyable.
English tour and the guide spoke English very well. Everyone had an earpiece so the guide could be heard clearly. Our guide Alejandro was very knowledgeable. We were told only after paying for the tour that we would need to go to the ticket office in person 1 hour 15 minutes before the tour began to be present when the tickets were purchased. This felt a bit unsettling having paid a lot of money upfront without being advised of this, but everything went smoothly.
Great guides to secure tickets and guide inside with background and history . Very flexible to speed .
Our guide, Juan, gave a little more history of Spain at the beginning of the tour than we would have liked, but then really got into the flow. Showed us a lot of details that we would have missed, and made us part of the experience: "Imagine you are an ambassador from another country walking down this corridor for your first audience with the King.. ." Then we had as much time as we wanted to explore the gardens and palaces.
We are all glad to have visited this beautiful site in the middle of Sevilla. The tour was very informative. Our guide Melissa shared many interesting stories and details about Alcázar and was so enthusiastic and fun.
The tour was a fantastic experience and well organised. Rosa and Juan were delightful and insightful. Also particularly commanding with other large groups that might get in the way so that we would have a great experience! We also felt very lucky as these were last minute tickets, I don’t recommend leaving it late like we did but if you are book with these guys they’re worth every cent.
Juan was superb in terms of his knowledge of the palace and how he communicated it Best way to see it like this (and with no queues!) Keith
Juan is excellent ! Very knowledgeable and eager to customize the tour to the group. Highly recommend! You’ll be lucky to have him.
Neglected to book this months in advance, so ended up paying a ridiculous amount via Trip Advisor and Viator to have a fairly short tour (90 mins - was supposed to be only an hour, but took longer) to see the Real Alcazar. The guide Juan Chacon was charming and knowledgeable, but in the allotted time was only able to show the group a few highlights. We had time after the tour to explore further. Would have preferred to have done a self guided audio tour but there were no options left, as we didn't book ages in advance. (we didn't want to queue up for 4 hours from 7am to buy a ticket on the day) Had the tour been a reasonable price I would highly recommend, but not for what we paid. No reflection on the tour quide whatsoever, he was lovely.
Excellent. Juan bought the whole experience to life and told us details we would never have thought about in a fun way
Informative but over priced.
The guide called me the day before and said he could not get the tickets and had to cancel. He also said he was communicating to TripAdvisor who still sent me reminders and know asked how the experience went. Well, no words to express my disappointment!
We really enjoyed everything. Melisa was our guide and in very good English she told us about the wonders of this place and was attentive to my son, making jokes with him from time to time.
We spent a few days in Seville with the family. The Royal Alcázar is one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen. Juan, our guide, is a delightful person. He was punctual, friendly, and the visit was very enjoyable. Everything was very interesting. And he gave excellent recommendations. Thank you, Juan.
We paid for - as advertised - a private tour. We also booked the tour in Spanish - our preferred language. We were asked the day prior if we could switch to an English tour. As it honestly made little difference and was earlier - we agreed. Upon arrival, however, we quickly learned that not only was it not a private tour, but we had 25+ fellow tourists in our group. Others in the group had similarly booked a “private tour” and when they complained were told that because it doesn’t involve the general public, it was “private.” Laughably ridiculous. And exactly as I feared the guide’s English was less than adequate. My partner and I, as well as, a handful of other bilingual guests were constantly translating for the guide. I do not want to name our guide because we did like him and as we often speak in “Spanglish” it was no big deal for us, but we did sympathize with the non Spanish speakers. I truly feel swindled having paid triple what a group tour would have cost. Unless the palace is totally booked up avoid this company.
It was fine, but should have been labelled “group tour through an operator”. The title “private tour” was very misleading since it was a group tour with 28 people and a head set. The guide was patient and nice though. I was expecting a private tour for my family of 4 for the $380 usd
Overpriced!!!! You still have to wait in line to buy tickets This guided tour is a rip-off
A super-energetic tour by Melissa. We were really part of her "family". A real recommendation.
