Having read about Italica is was a very nice adventure. Sergio was very pleasant and well informed. It's less than 4 hours and that was very much appreciated as it turned out to be a hot day.

Itinerary
Visit Italica, located just 15 minutes from Seville, on a 4-hour guided tour. The first authentically Roman city in Spain was founded in 206 B.C. by Roman General Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus and was the birthplace of future Roman emperors Trajan and Hadrian. Take a walk along the old streets of the Archaeological Ensemble of Italica and explore the ruins of the houses and public buildings. See the amphitheater that had a seating capacity of 25,000 and was the third-largest in the Roman Empire. Admire the mosaic floors, the Traianeum, the statues of Diana, Venus, and Trajan, and the public baths. See the partially reconstructed Roman theater in Santiponce.

Beware of Viator. We were booked for Italica at a steep price. We were contacted less than 24 hours before the tour to let us know of a change in time due the marathon. (They were caught by surprise by a marathon?) All this for Italica to be closed due to weather related issues —which were also in effect for a while. Huge waste of time. I’m removing the Viator app and suggest you do the same.
The guide, Jesus, was well informed and presented information about the site professionally and with humor. His English is heavily accented and sometimes he used a false cognate; however, as someone who worked with Spanish speakers for decades, I was able to understand him. The ruins are fascinating and the restoration has been done with care. Be prepared to do a lot of walking on rough, uneven surfaces with level changes. Sturdy shoes are a must. Some reviewers have mentioned problems - scheduling and availability of guides- with this tour. Fortunately, there were no issues today.
Good experience. Tour guide was well informed, entertaining and enthusiastic. Good 1/2 day option if you have time.
We met at our assigned time, but the bus in tour guide were 20 minutes late. But that was OK and she was very knowledgeable and personable and we had a great day. She split the group into English speakers and Spanish speakers. That was good until the Spanish-speaking tour guide went home and she had to do both. She did a great job! It was a good experience for a large bus tour. We prefer smaller tours, but our guide was really good!
The roads are windy and the bus sways a lot so if you are prone to motion sickness it can be an issue. We left the tour at Alvia and returned via train. You are a bit rushed through Sagovia and Alvia. Leaving the tour allowed us to spend several hours in Alvia walking the walls.
Our tour guide, Manuel, was fantastic. He was patient, knowledgeable, and passionate about the history he was teaching.
Fascinating to see Italica and learn some of its history. Beware this tour is not as advertised. It is not 4hrs in Italica. You get about 2 hrs. The rest is travelling there and back plus a 30 minute stop off at a nearby monastery which is not advertised in this write up. There is another tour company who does advertise the monastery and Italica. However I specifically chose this tour because it didn't go to the monastery. I think there are 2 tour companies and they joined the tours together so we had to go to the monastery whether we liked it or not. Very poor. Tour guide wasn't the greatest either. He gave more information about Spain in general rather than the actual city of Italica
Great experience on a HOT day. Picked up in Seville and went outside of town about 20 minutes. Spent about 2 hrs walking around the ancient Roman ruins learning from a great very knowledgeable tour guide. After the tour had about 20-30 minutes to visit the little restaurant across the street to cool down, get some drinks and they had ice cream too. Then off to another short stop to see a Monastery. Spent about 30 minutes there and then back to Seville. It was great learning about Italica as it was the civilization way before the area of Sevilla.
Simple group tour of the ruins. Was good for group but would recommended private if you like a more personal experience! Great tour for groups!!
Very well organized, interesting ruins and great guides. Tour moved along seamlessly, time to look at the ruins but not to waste time. A great four hours.
We where lucky we had nice weather and a very good tour guide Jesus knowledge of Italica was very impressive and enthusiasm was infectious. Thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and would highly recommend this tour
This is def an interesting area to visit. The tour guides seemed disorganized, about 20 mins late, changed the meeting spot and then they weren't sure where our bus was. I pretty much speak only tourist English, so really appreciate English speaking guides being provided - our guide was not very proficient unfortunately, lots of words he couldn't translate and info about the area he was unsure of.
Our tour guide Catherine was so fantastic, funny, humorous and simpática. It was not easy to show around under that heat and sunshine.
Good Place and nice guide. Liked the transport provided. Awesome place to visit. Will recommend the attraction.
I greatly enjoyed this tour because of the tour guide named Luca. He was extremely educated in Roman history and the history of Andalucia. He was generous with his stories and was better than many teachers I work with at explaining concepts, helping the visitor visualize what things looked like and how they worked, and patiently answering questions. Without him, the ruins would have been just piles of rock; with him I traveled back in time and connected how my life is similar and different from the ancient Romans. The stop at the monastery was unexpected, but enjoyable—again because Luca discussed the importance of art restoration techniques and how scholars build knowledge around new discoveries. I recommend the tour. If the bus is a little late because of traffic, don’t give up—the guides will turn up presently and they are worth the wait. I would ask for a little more time after the guided tour to walk around to take pictures—20 or 30 minutes would have been sufficient. Overall, I would advise you to take the tour. You will enjoy this site more, especially if you are lucky enough to get a guide like Luca.
Our tour was excellent - we saw all of Itálica and the Monastery, and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, he was able to provide answers to the many questions from the group. There was a slight delay at the meet up point, but the company was very easy to get hold of and their communication both upon booking and when checking regarding the delay was great. They were both helpful and speedy! Overall definitely worth the money. We had intended to get the bus there from the city centre and pay at the entrance, however we would have missed out on the wealth of information provided from our lovely tour guide (and the air conditioned coach!) so we’re very glad we decided to book through the company. They provided both a hassle-free and insightful experience.
We arrived early for check in with our tour operator. After waiting for several minutes we were called and told there wasn’t any room for us due to breakdown in communication between Viator and the tour provider. The tour provider said we had booked too late the day before even though Viator had taken payment, sent us a confirmation and all of the details for meeting point etc. for the tour. We were extremely sad to not have made it to Italica.
Italica was an interesting place and worth the visit. Luckily we already understood most of the Roman history and architecture from that area. The downside happened after we got on the bus. There were 3 guides who never mentioned their names. We were separated by language; Spanish, English and French. Once we got to the site they each took turns explaining in different languages instead of separating the 3 groups. This took a lot of time. The lack of training was evident when the guides would walk ahead and talk away from the group. The only people who could hear them were people walking next to them. It was a bit frustrating. After leaving Italica we went to the monestary and we were short on time so the guild spent 80% of his time speaking Spanish. We would recommend visiting, but not with this tour operator
This tour was really interesting. Our guide, Manuel, was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. I recommend this tour!
Jesus was very knowledgeable and engaging, this tour is well worth it. This was a highlight of our holiday in Seville!
This was an excellent professional tour of Italica (in Spanish and English); our guide Maria was well informed, engaging and very pleasant. She ensured we saw all the key points and had time to wander as well. The transport was great quality and we appreciated Maria’s careful driving. A great 4 hour trip. Thank you!
Alberto was very knowledgeable, passionate and pleasant! His knowledge of art history and history overall was impressive. We would do another tour with him and Catherine.
having a guide that can explain the history of the city is much better than wandering around the site.
Well organised tour with prompt pick up and drop off. Carlos our tour guide, who had worked on the site as an archaeologist, was very knowledgeable and we could have have listened to him for hours.
We traveled with Jose and Jesus as tour guides. We followed Jose as our spanish tour guide and he was amazing. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about the hystory of Italica, very educational and a wonderful experience.
A great tour and Mario definitely provided fun and lots of history. We went to Italica and saw the amphitheater, then the "new" city with time to wander for a bit. Then we went on to a Monastery. About half of it is still under restoration, but the part that is done is nice.
Carmen was a great tour guide, a very fun and enjoyable tour. We went to Itálica and an old monastery nearby.
We really enjoyed this tour. We are game of thrones fan# so was looking forward to this tour. The tour guide was very good and done really well in the heat she was very informative and spoke English very well. Showed us lots of the history of the site which we would have missed if we had gone on our own.The girl that drove us to the tour was friendly and helpful also. Showed us where they filmed the game of thrones was really appreciated.
Excellent tour. Our guide, Luca, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his subject and gave us an in depth insight that exceeded our expectations.
You don't need to pay for an expensive tour- entry into Italics site is FREE! Amazing site with loads to look at including Roman amphitheatre.
Interesting trip, good to do when not too hot! The monastery was a nice surprise. General guide was fun! Guide at Italica was enthusiastic but could be hardly understood which was a pity, missing a lot of interesting information.
We were suppose to meet at 10 am for our tour at the departure point: Paseo Colon (Torre del Oro) 41001 Seville, Spain TORRE DEL ORO We reached there at 9:40am and waited, asked around, called the number +34954211609 with no response. Kept calling the number and looking around, but no one picked up the phone. It was 10:10 when finally a lady answered and tells us that they had sent us an email about it. Till today we have not received that email! She put us on hold to get more info and then disconnected. We tried again but no one picked up the phone. Then we tried with the local number and she picked up the phone and soon realized who we were so, we were disconnected again! My advise- Viator is not the best company to book with. Although, I was told by one of the guides that all the companies are same with different names but we did not have this type of experience with GetYourGuide. They we upfront with information about a changed itinerary, refunded the money and even suggested an alternate tour with another vendor!
We booked a tour with Naturanda Turismo. Had 2 very informative guides. Great historic knowledge. To see actual places people lived was amazing. Some of the homes floor designs were still visually stunning. Would recommend visiting it. Just a short drive from Seville.
Italica was fabulous as was The Monestry. The amphitheatre is awesome. Our guide was excellent. Great trip
The trip from Seville was short and we got to spend lots of time at the ruins which were amazing. The trip to the monastery was an unexpected plus.
Jesus who lead tour was very knowledgeable and enthusiaitic about subject especially Roman archeology. I learned much!
Apparently they didn’t receive my request therefore it did not happen. They did say they would refund and it doesn’t look like they charged me. Maybe I scheduled too late
The good humoured tour guide Jesus, had to translate to Spanish and mixed English groups & did a great job. Now we know the Roman origin of the word 'fornication' & other 'curiosities', entertaining & informative. The 'English team' thanks you!
I had a very difficult time understanding our tour guide Carlos. In fact I was unable to understand over 1/2 of what he said. I was very disappoint in the tour.
interesting for its ceramics, except that the tour was not done in French due to illness, the children lost interest which was not the goal of the visit.
Excursion confirmed to the description with guide bringing us important information only flat in English and Spanish and not in French as indicated at the time of booking but in the end it was a simple English to understand
Our guides were Daniela and Alejandro. We loved the excursion to Italica and the Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo. Awesome.
Me pareció excelente, fue una experiencia inolvidable, nos llevaron cómodamente hasta Itálica, nos explicaron cada detalle del lugar y Adrián el guía fue muy amable todo momento. Recomendado 100%
Last week in August I went to Seville with my daughter. I wanted to see the ruins Italica pq had been there many years ago, and I wanted to check the new discoveries. We took this tour, picked us up at the hotel and the guide dsd q we got in the car with him, he was telling us everything. we were seeing through Seville until we reached Santiponce, q is where the ruins are located. He explained everything very well. On the way out of the ruins, he took us to the monastery of Santiponce and was showing us. This monastery did not know what was coming into the Tour, that is, if Miguel, who is called the guide, had not told us, we had not seen him. We really liked this Tour and we recommend it. The guide the truth q in our opinion did very well and explained and told us everything very well.
