Jesus was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, enjoyed our trip! We didn’t realize the monastery was included but were so glad for the stop there as it was very interesting as well. Would recommend if you have an extra day in Sevilla.

Very informative. Our guide was very knowledgeable. We went at the right time of day where we could see everything in detail because it wasn’t too busy. The tour company made it was very easy half day trip
Walking through a Roman city in 2026 is something else! This is a must see location! The tour guide did a great job! Totally recommend it!
This tour was a great way to spend a few hours and to learn about the Roman Empire and it's presence in Seville. Our group had two guides - Jesus for the English speakers and Adrian for the Spanish. Jesus was friendly and very entertaining and we certainly didn't get a boring commentary. The mosaic tile designs at Italica are amazing and a must see. After Italica we visited the San Isadiro Monastery which is close by.
The four hour, half day tour to Italica was a really enjoyable way to see the site. As it it not far for Seville at all, most of the time is spent either at Italica or the monastery. Our tour guide Jesus was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! He made the trip a lot of fun and well worth the charge.
A lot more to this one than you would think. Excellent guide (Nieves) with great knowledge of the site. Additional tour of the local monastery thrown in too.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour! The bus was comfortable, with plenty of AC, and my tour guide, Pia, was truly exceptional. She possesses a rare combination of qualities: funny, cheerful, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive to detail. She made the entire experience both enjoyable and informative. Highly recommended!
The real drawback of this tour is the time spent waiting: for the bus, which arrived blocks away 20 minutes after the scheduled tour departure; the time spent driving through Seville to pick up tour participants at other meeting places; on arrival at Italica, herding and then separating the 50+ people into groups of Spanish and English speakers, only to have to wait for others who were straggling in to join the tour at the entrance; and finally, waiting in long lines for another 30 minutes to enter the site. I’ll never sign up for a tour like this again. Maybe it’s the norm with these large tours and I didn’t realize that so much of the 4-hour tour was collecting, organizing and waiting. HOWEVER, the guide we had - Alba - was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, willing to thoughtfully answer all questions, funny and helpful. I’d love to book her for private tours of other sites, but I didn’t get her last name! So, a mixed review but I’d give the Andalusia Tour guide five stars; the operation itself maybe two. They did get us there safely and we did see Italica.
Experience was wonderful! Emilio did a great job explaining details and sharing truthfully what is reconstructed and what is authentic. Italica tile work was detailed and the amphitheater was amazing! We’ve been to Rome and still this amazed us. The surprise stop at the Monasterio de San Isidro was wonderful to see the artwork and hear the story. Overall great and worthwhile time spent.
Too chaotic, three groups put together and the main guide was frazzled and bossy. We waited long for other passenger who wasn’t even on the tour, waited again for bus pick up and monastery was rushed. The Italica guide was informative and nice but the main female guide treated us like school children. I would not do this tour again with this group but look for smaller group, may be more expensive but likely worth it.
Our guide Catherine was absolutely mental but in the very best way, she kept laughing at her own jokes in both English and French. I thought she was absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable. Italica is very close to Seville (about a 30 minute drive) so 4 hours should be fine. The problem was someone decided to shoehorn a trip to a monastery into the itinerary so we had to cut the tour of Italica short and miss several of the exhibits to go see some run down church that was of no interest - I wanted to see an ancient Roman town and ruins, and missed valuable time here travelling to a monastery to hear about a bunch of Monks I have precisely zero interest in and look at a row of orange trees (admittedly more interesting than the monks). Also there were no monks left - even they knew the place was a waste of time. I reckon they went to the Roman ruins as well for a good time. In summary you should be able to do a really good tour of Italica in the time provided but the monastery takes about an hour out of the itinerary which would have been much better spent staying at the ruins which were the whole point of the trip.
My friend and I visited Itallica on the last day of our time in Seville. We went with Naturanda and our guide was Pia, from Chile. She led a party of 15, to the historic site of Itallica. Her energy and passion was consistent through out the 90 mins as she told the history of the emperors, their wealth, and their homes. We marveled at the beautiful mosiac floors, that were a, sign of status in roman times. The weather that day was sweltering. But Pia, managed to maintain the intetest of the group as we toured the site which concluded with a visit to the amphitheatre where gladiators once fought. We then took a short ride to a monastery to view some historical paintings and artifacts. It was a good tour with a lot of factual content from Pia, and a lot of history was brought to life by her. I would highly reccommend this tour, even if history is not your thing. You will be intetested by the history of Italica.
Nice trip! Lots of info. Our guide Pia was very good and very nice!
Pia is the best guide. I loved the experience.
Great tour, with the highlight being how informative was our guide Pia.
The van that they use is very spacious and comfortable. The guides were very attentive. I missed my actual tour date and they let me switch to another date. Really appreciate it. If there’s only one tiny complaint that would be the explanation could be a tad too long sometimes.
Plan for water and have reasonable walking shoes. Our guide Petra was quite knowledgeable and kept us interested and informed.
Tour guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. However, we were dropped off at the ruins by one driver and told our guide would be there in 10 minutes. He showed up 30 minutes later. When the tours were finished he again left us and said a taxi would pick us up in 10 minutes. One hour later after multiple phone calls and promises of being picked up, a driver shows up. It was 102 F (40C). There was water either for sale near us. I was promised our money. Unfortunately, booking it through TripAdvisor means another level. I hope to see my money soon.
Pia our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, which made the historical information come alive. This was the best part of the trip for me. We also went to the San Isidora monastery. Her historical knowledge was fantastic.
Jesus was an outstanding and knowledgeable guide to Italica! He really brought an understanding of the archaeological significance of each area to our trip. He was always engaging and enthusiastic. You cannot go wrong with Jesus! Five stars!
My husband and I had a great time exploring the ruins of Italica! This tour is definitely for history buffs. Wear reliable walking shoes, bring snacks, and water! Our guide combined the English-speaking tour with another language tour so at times we were pretty crowded but overall, everyone was friendly and we had a great time.
Jesus was a fantastic guide and his historical knowledge and charismatic delivery made the experience. My 10 year old was most excited for this tour of everything we had planned in Seville and it did not disappoint for the kids or for us as adults.
We decided to take this tour as tickets to the cathedral and palace were sold out and we were limited in our time in Seville. After a short drive, we were put together with other English speakers for the tour. There were 8 of us so we could hear the tour guide and ask questions etc. Sergio was our guide and he was excellent. We were incredibly impressed with his knowledge especially of the Monastery of San Isidoro del Campo.
A great trip, with a chance to see a truly amazing array of mosaics and some of the current archaeological works. The amphitheatre was a real highlight. The only reason for four rather than five stars is due to the rather unfortunate end to the day when the guide dropped a dozen or so of us off at a bus stop rather then accompanying us back to the starting point some 10 minutes walk away through the back streets of Seville. Thankfully, most of us had Google maps on our phones but this was rather unexpected.
really excellent tour of both Italica and the nearby monastery with Jose Luis. It was a large group and I thought he was very effective at keeping everyone engaged and delivering the key historical information. Both sites are breathtaking and for those spending more than a couple days in Sevilla and that are interested in a deeper dive into some of the nearby history, 100% worth a half-day trip.
We had a great experience on the Italica tour. Pia did a wonderful job telling stories to make the ruined city come alive. The additional stop at the Monastery was unexpected and gave more color to the history of the region making me appreciate my time in Sevilla more. We considered going independently to explore the ruins, but our visit was much improved by Pia’s explanations. I typically avoid group tours, but this one exceeded my expectations.
We had a fantastic time. Our guide, Emilio, was excellent. His knowledge and story-telling is second to none. He has so much information about the Roman ruins, we could have spent the whole day there, and still not know everything. 10/10 for his gelato recommendation as well!
Enjoyed the trip and guided tour. Tour guide very informative. Additional stop at a monastery which was a surprise but included with our trip.
A beautiful historic site, made even better by the enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide Ines. Definitely worth the time and money!
Very well organised trip to the Roman remains of Italica. Everything happened on time and as advertised. Guide Petra was very pleasant and informative. Would have liked a printed map with details of the area. Recommended.
We had a great excursion from Seville to itálica. The site is amazing and the state of the Roman city in such great condition that it makes it a great visit. Jesus, our guide, was great - knowledgeable and with a great sense of humour which put everyone at ease. It was a fun and educational half day. I thoroughly recommend it.
Very friendly and knowledgeable guide ( Petra ). Itálica is worth a visit but the site itself could be further enhanced . The monastery and outdoor theater were good bonus visits .
Everything ran smoothly from pick up to drop off. Our guide ‘Jesus’ was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. Would recommend this to tour to anyone who is interested in Roman history .
Overall this was a great tour. It rained the day of our trip so some of the travel time was bit delayed but the actual tour through Italica and of the monastery was really well done and I could tell the tour guide was passionate about the town and the history
We loved this half day tour. Our guide Catherine was knowledgeable, funny and friendly. Italica was an interesting place to visit, I think it's worth doing a guided tour so you can get more information and context about the mosaics and ruins. The amphitheatre was our favourite part, it was stunning! The monastery was a great end to the tour. Lots of beautiful art to appreciate inside.
Petra was very informative and passionate about the Italica. You could feel her love for it and it came out in the most informative tour. Loved it!
This one is tough. Italica is only about 20 minutes from the center, but we drove around sevilla In a bus picking up other guests. Italica was mostly closed due to storm damage. Out of control 9f the tour company, but they should have contacted us so we could decide if we wanted to proceed. Other tour members received a call, but we did not. They switched the stops on the way back, forcing us to stay on the bus longer. Italica is also free, so do yourselves a favor and take a cab. Your vacation time will thank you.
The guide and bus were 30 minutes late, which is frustrating when you have to be back in time for a train and therefore can’t just have the excursion go over time. The result is that your trip is cut 30 minutes short. We didn’t visit the theatre or the baths. The guide could put more effort into learning the standard English names for things instead of just saying them in French (her native language). Sure, for most people the French names are still somewhat intelligible with a bit of guess work (e.g. Thésée for Theseus) but for others maybe less so. I’m not bothered by accents and celebrate multilingualism, but I just think a little extra effort regarding names would benefit future tour guests. Also, please clarify that Parian marble is from Paros (Greek island) and not from Paris, France. The poor American woman who expressed her amazement that the marble had come all the way from Paris (how fancy!) without you correcting her / clarifying is now going to carry the false understanding with her for the rest of her days. Finally, some of the historical accounts were misleading and/or oversimplified, for example that the Romans woke up one day and realised there were Carthaginians in Spain and came to help the locals kick them out. No mention of the fact that Spain was inhabited by lots of different peoples at the time of the second punic war and that Phonecians had been present there for 800+ years and in reality were themselves locals. Sure, maybe the locals of Saguntum weren’t so hot on Carthage but other groups were and also the Romans were equally as exploitative of local resources. The simplification without nuance approach was reflected later when the guide talked briefly about the “reconquista”. I got there and back alive and safe so 3 stars. However, if you already have some background knowledge then I’d recommend just getting the commuter bus from Seville (only a few euros) and getting a briefing from/ asking questions of ChatGPT once you’re there.
It was a very interesting tour. Jesús was an excellent tour guide who had great knowledge and passion for his subject both at the site itself and the additional Monastery visit. I had expected to only walk round the church and was both surprised and delighted that it included a detailed history from Jesús.
Very interesting visit to the ceremonial city and amphitheatre of Italica, learning about Trajan and (H)Adriano. Great mosaics, and we were inspired to go to see the ones taken away by Countess Lebrija in Seville itself. Had a bonus stop at another site, the Monastery of San Isidoro de Campo to learn about the first translation of the bible into the local language and the Inquisition. Rebeca was a knowledgeable and engaging guide.
We had a great tour with Rebecca! She had fantastic information about all the history of the site. Roman ruins just 20 minutes outside of Seville and a Monastery visit was amazing. Even with the rain, we saw a lot and learned a great deal.
Fascinating place with so much preserved. Very good, interesting and knowledgeable guide. Then went to the monastery which also had a lot of history. However we were not told to bring ID, but thankfully had passports on screenshots on phone. So please make that clear in instructions
The trip was well organized. The bus was comfy. The guide was knowledgeable and personable and made the trip interesting. The site is really amazing and worth the visit. There was a ‘bonus’ side trip of a visit to San Isidoro del Campo, a former fortress monastery. My complaint is that they advertised in their literature and it said on the ticket that food and drinks were provided. But that was not the case. It was a hot day and it took a toll on me and left me dehydrated. I felt light headed at one point. I heard a couple of other travelers.mention it too.
I loved Italica. In addition, Ana, the guide, shared a lot of knowledge and was very attentive to everyone. She is an excellent guide!
Excellent guided tour of Italica and the local monastery. The coach was very comfortable and the guide, Miguel, spoke superb English and was very knowledgeable and entertaining about the ancient city of Italic and its history. It is not as well persevered as Roman ruins in some other places because it has only been valued for its historical importance in relatively recent times, but there are some beautiful mosaic floors (reconstructed) and the amphitheatre is spectacular. The monastery was also worth seeing and was beautiful inside despite looking almost derelict from the outside.
Great tour - would highly recommend. Plenty of time in Italica to see everything. Tour guide was kind and knowledgeable. Bus was clean and comfortable.
Catch public bus from Seville Plaza de Armas - bus will be destination Santaponce - pay cash only to driver - £1.70 - 30mins trip - Italica Admission £1.90 - toilets on site at entrance - very clean. Great place to wander about - Spanish /English listings throughout Not a lot of shelter. Bring water if travelling hot season. Cyprus trees provide some shelter along some streets. Small visitor center also. Bars/ Cafes opposite entrance for coffee, meals, drinks
Italica, the site of an ancient city near Seville, is amazing. Hard to believe the buildings are still in evidence from circa 200AD and beyond. Our tour guide Jose Luis brought the are to life with his knowledge of the history and the usage of the various areas. The amphitheater is incredible and so was the nearby monastery Isidore. Thanks Jose Luis for a most informative trip.
One of the tour guides never showed up so our poor tour guide had to combine both the Spanish and English group, doing both tours at the same time and she did this seamlessly. Swapping paragraph by paragraph between between English and Spanish she took the challenge as a champ and covered the whole tour flawlessly. The city was absolutely incredible, what has been excavated is in incredible condition and our guide was a wealth of information. Felt like a behind the scenes tour with excavation being conducted while we were there, I’d love to come again in the future once the city is finished just to see the difference. Easily took half the day and was one of my Seville highlights. The monastery was so boring and unnecessary, I’d recommend just staying on the bus for that part :)
Ancient Roman ruins with great mosaics, a really nice amphitheater and a tour of a local monastery. I was going to do this by myself but I’m glad I didn’t because I learned a lot on the tour thanks to our guides Miguel and Manuela who were very knowledgeable. Also the logistics were much easier and the tour was reasonably priced. The monastery was a nice surprise too and an interesting side trip.
