This tour was definitely more interesting than we expected. I thought we were just going to see an iconic landmark and learn a little history. The area is much more of a community than we realized, and the activities were more varied than expected. We had no idea that the tunnels and caverns existed, and the history presented was fascinating. The monkeys were also fun to see and presented many photo ops. I subtracted one star for the inefficiency of the logistics. We had a pleasant ride from Sevilla with our driver Juan Manuel, but once at Gilbraltar, we were handed off to a larger group situation and the official Gilbraltar buses. There was about a 45 minute period of just standing around in a garage with fairly non-commuicative coordinators waiting for the buses to arrive. It made the day drag a bit.

Itinerary
Meet your driver at our meeting point in Seville (or your hotel if the private option is selected). After a quick check-in and greeting, we’ll board our comfortable vehicle. Starting the day on time ensures we beat the crowds at the border and maximize your time exploring the Rock.
Sit back and enjoy a relaxing drive through the Andalusian countryside. Your professional driver will handle the road while you enjoy the views or rest in the climate-controlled cabin.
Once in Gibraltar, you’ll join an official local guide for the Rock Tour. The first stop is the legendary Pillars of Hercules. Enjoy the breathtaking views across the Strait toward the African coast and the Atlas Mountains. It’s a perfect photo opportunity and a great introduction to the ancient history of this strategic site.
Explore the awe-inspiring St. Michael's Cave with your official local guide. Marvel at the massive stalactites and stalagmites in this natural limestone cathedral, which is beautifully illuminated to highlight its geological wonders. Your guide will share fascinating stories about its history and its role throughout the centuries.
Meet Gibraltar’s most famous inhabitants! Your official local guide will take you to the Apes' Den to see the Barbary macaques. Learn about the legends of these wild monkeys while enjoying panoramic views of the bay. Your guide will ensure a safe and educational interaction with Europe’s only free-ranging primate population.
Enjoy some free time to explore at your own pace. Use this time for VAT-free shopping on Main Street, a traditional British lunch at a local pub, or a visit to the Great Siege Tunnels. Whether you need to visit a monument, use facilities, or just stroll through the city, the time is yours to spend however you wish.
After a full day of discovery, meet your professional driver for the journey back. Relax in the comfort of our vehicle as we travel back to Seville. This is the perfect time to rest and review your photos after your international adventure. We will conclude the tour by dropping you back safely at the starting point in the evening.

Raphael picked us very close to our hotel, having messaged us the night before to see if he could find us a closer pickup spot to the one we were given. His customer service and friendliness continued through the day and he even played music by our favourite artists in the car. The tour once in Gibraltar was just what we wanted to see but unfortunately our bus broke down at the tunnels and we had to wait for a replacement. Dave our tour guide was great. Lots of humour and lots of facts too. However it meant we had no time left to spend in Gibraltar’s town centre which we wanted to do.
Great experience as a overview of Gibraltar and saw all the touristic features, just not enough time to see them in more detail
Rafael was a fantastic tour guide. He paid great attention to detail and was very informative. I would highly recommend taking a tour with him.
Be aware, you need to bring a passport. It is not clear on the Viator website when booking. We drove all the way and did not have passports. The driver asked us when we got there, why not ask before we boarded? The tour company Discovering Spain, sent us emails with a lot of informations and buried in the emails is a line about passports. This should be highlighted in BOLD. After 2.5 hours of driving we just turned back. We asked if the driver could give us a tour of Seville and was told no. The tour company sent us a letter saying it’s not their issue and they fulfilled their obligation , no refund or partial refund . Not sure how they full filled it when we didn’t see anything for 3 hours and should get some refund back. We offered to go the next day and asked if we could get a discount and was also told no, not their issue. anyways, bad experience. Although we did not see the fine print about the passports, we wasted 5 hours of driving. The tour company was not helpful or compassionate in anyway or willing any type of partial refund. We are from Canada and not Europeans and do not carry passports with us. A lack of kindness, empathy and customer service . Horrible company to deal with.
Prepare for hot weather even if you are traveling in late October. Just the right amount of time to spend in Gibraltar.
From Seville, it was a 2 hour drive and then about a 30 minute walk to the tour bus. This place is bustling. Our tour bus driver was David, born and raised in Gibraltar. We had 4 stops with included a visit to see monkeys. They were very friendly 😀. We had fish n chips for lunch. Gibraltar is actually a British colony. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our driver from Seville was Rafael, who was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Our driver picked up at our hotel and drove us to Gibraltar. He pointed out interesting sites along the way and picked us up at the end of the day. All great!
When traveling solo, be aware that someone else also must sign up for the trip. The company was not inclined to drive from Seville to Gibraltar with only one passenger (understandably). Fortunately, someone else joined at the last minute. The visit itself was spectacular: Monkeys, caves, hundreds of years of history. Africa quite visible across the straits. Also, notable contrast between Spanish culture on one side of the demarcation line and British culture on the other. Definitely worth the trip. I did not need a visa though my traveling companions could not accompany me because they live outside the EU and would have needed UK visas.
Jose drove us to the Rock from Sevilla and was so helpful, pleasant and personable. He made the drive there seem shorter than it was. Our driver from Brands was very knowledgeable, and shared a lot of great information. He took great care to ensure that we enjoyed meeting his friends, “the monkeys”. The views are absolutely stunning and the scope of the military operation inside the Rock was very interesting. There is so much history attached to this little spot in the world.
Fidelio was a guide extraordinaire! He knew all the history of Gibraltar, answered all our questions, and brought the monkeys close to us for photos. And the cave experience was a treat.
Gibraltar was a great day trip from Seville. Our Spanish guide was very helpful and knowledgeable, answered all our questions and provided us with all the information on how to get the best out of Gibraltar and detailed information about crossing the border. We had a great time and the views were amazing.
This trip was amazing! So well planned, perfect time spent everywhere! The transport was an 8 passenger van which was very clean and allowed me to make great friends with the other people on the trip! The monkeys were SO FUN!
Our guide Tommy was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Very good experience. Would highly recommend.
The Viator Transportation pick up was difficult locating! But the monkeys at Gibraltar were the height of the trip, even though my brother was bit On his jacket!
We were on the excursion to Gibraltar. Everything was excelent, punctuality, politeness and special touch in fulfilling some extra ideas. Great experience to be recommended.
This was not up to your standards for a tour. I paid more for a private tour, but did not get what i expected. The driver picked us up in Seville as expected and drove us to the border of Gibraltar. He was fine, but at that point, we told us he would meet us there when we were finished. We crossed the border and were referred to another service. After a 30 minute wait we were assigned to a group of 5 other travelers (so much for the private tour). Ronnie, our new guide was knowledgeable enough but rattled off his information in a monotone. He then did it again in Spanish. We have been on tours with multiple languages, but I did not expect that on a private tour. Other than that, the tour was interesting, but not what I expected.
The tour itself was great. There seemed to be some difficulty with setting the exact meeting point. Several needless emails as to potential meeting spots. Travelers are busy and have little time to be monitoring their devices for unnecessary notices.
On the positive there was a driver who picked us up promptly and returned us. Unfortunately, he did not speak English so we followed the emailed instructions from the tour company to the buses but did not have enough time to walk across the border from where he dropped us off, go through their passport control, get on the city bus (bus 5 or 10) that made multiple stops prior to arriving at the tour bus terminal and locate the actual tour bus in the 40 minutes allocated. We are quite self sufficient and did attempt to walk up the hill to the funicular after we determined the bus was not an option only to learn it was closed for maintenance while waiting for a text response from the tour company. It was at this point I knew we were not going to have time to make it up to the top of the rock and back to meet the driver within our allotted three hours in Gibraltar. We have traveled to many different countries but never have been told to take public transportation as part of a guided tour! Really disappointing experience and waste of an entire day.
belle expérience, chauffeur sympathique et bon conducteur, ponctuel. manque 2 heures pour bien visiter Gibraltar , un peu trop court le temps de visite de la ville ou pays .
Excelente servicio para nuestro guía Rafa !!! Gracias a él conocimos y tuvimos excelentes experiencias !
