The food was terrific and plenty full, the guide was prompt, friendly and fun and spoke perfect English. He walked us through some incredible streets teaming with people restaurants and food stalls.

We did the tour with Culinary Backstreet and it was the highlight of our trip. A great small group and a wonderful knowledgeable guide plus great food.
We had a great time with Chris. It was a great way to see another town in seoul. I would highly recommend this tour.
Only 3/5 people in our group showed up, and honestly that only made it better. All of the food was beyond excellent, and Chris is a great guide and super cool guy, 100% recommend to anybody and everybody.
Chris was awesome! Anyone coming to Seoul for the first time should book this tour! Chris was very knowledgeable and lots of fun. He kept the group engaged and made sure we were having a great time. We ate Mandu(fried dumplings) at a stall in Insadong, Korean BBQ, traditional pancakes and live octopus(i didn’t try it but some in the group did). There was no pressure to try it. We also stopped by cafe in Ikseon-dong and had Bingsu(shaved ice cream) All the food was delicious! I went back the next day for more Mandu and Ice cream! Thank you Chris for showing me where the good food is!
We tried several very different places w a diversity of food offerings. Food was excellent and plentiful. We tried places we def would not have tried on our own
You will doing lots of walking. It's an easy pace, but more walking than expected. Bring a jacket for the evening breeze. Chris was phenomenal!!! He gave great recommendations and took us to the cutest areas.
Want a fun evening with Chris exploring where the locals go for great food in Seoul. Eating live octopus for the first time was a cool experience although not everyone in the group tried it and the shave ice dessert was so good we went back the next night for more.
I spent time researching and am so glad I came across Ongo Food tours - we loved the tour with Chris. He was informative, attentive, looked after us and we enjoyed lots of superb Korean food with him. Great experience and you get to sit and eat in many of the locations joining in with the locals and skipping the queue at the BBQ restaurant was a win! Must do experience.
Chris was an amazing guide, he made the tour very memorable and was attuned to everyone’s needs to make sure they had a memorable evening. There was plenty of yummy food to try, don’t eat too much before you go. We highly recommend this food tour.
This tour exceeded my expectations. As a chef for almost 30 years I will eat most things, but that doesn’t mean they tasted good. So with all the choices and a language barrier where do you get the food that you will remember forever? Chris our tour guide knew all the best spots and it felt like hanging out with good friend and eating fantastic dishes. The alleyways we walked down were exciting and vibrant with good energy and a welcoming Korean community. My wife and I would never have thought of or found these “hidden gems”. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED AND WHY WE CAME TO SEOUL!! Worth every dollar and the some. THANK YOU CHRIS!!!!
Fantastic trip through food experience and excellent guide.
Chris was a great guide, keeping our spirits up even in a freezing cold evening. We loved that the tour included food that we didn’t expect, giving us a taste of things we’d never seen or heard of before. 10/10 would recommend, especially if your guide is Chris.
The entire experience was terrific!! Our host, Chris, was friendly and engaged each of us in personal conversations throughout the evening to learn more about our interests and vacations. The locations he guided us to all had a cool vibe and, of course, the food was fantastic!!! Being with a small group, there were lots of fun conversations. Overall, it was an experience I loved and would definitely repeat when I return to South Korea.
This was a fun experience and good introduction to food around Seoul, including KBBQ and live octopus. Chris was very friendly and great to talk with. He took care of all the ordering and logistics so we could just enjoy the experience. He also gave us good recommendations for the rest of our time in Seoul.
We had a nice time walking through Insadong and Ikseon-dong sampling dumplings, Korean BBQ and desserts. There was lots to eat and Chris was a very chilled guide. The last stop for pancakes at Gwangjang market was a wasted opportunity as we passed by the interesting looking food stalls to go to a small cafe where the choice was fried pancakes with mung bean, pork, seafood or live octopus.
Fun experiencing trying some different street food. Insadong and the discovery of Ikesong for BBQ alley was fantastic before Gwangjang Market. Chris our guide was fantastic. It was like going out with a friend or a family member. Very relaxed and enjoyable. Highly recommended
Super nice evening with a small group of solo travellers. Really felt like going out with friends. Chris was really interesting, and brought us to super delicious places. Great conversation and Great food, what more to ask!
This was such a fun and easy way to sample Korean food. We visited 4 different locations - the first location our guide, Chris, ordered some food that we ate while we walked. There were tables waiting for us at the next 3 stops. The second stop was bbq, the third stop was Bingsu and the 4th stop was other Korean food. Loved this tour!
It was really great! We went to a few places to try different foods and overall I enjoyed the experience.
Excellent traditional food and drink tour with a chilled, friendly guide. We enjoyed the various food/drink options and locations. Good value for money as everything was included.
Chris was a wonderful guide! He has an easy manner about him and spent individual time chatting with each person in the group along the way to our destinations. We got to try traditional Korean dishes with personal explanations of the food, culture, and different neighborhoods in the city.
this was fun, interesting and the food was excellent. perfect for solo travelers who want to meet some fun people Chris was a very good guide - thank you so much for taking care of us
Chris was an awesome tour guide. We really enjoyed all his recommendations and food picks. Thank you so much for the great tour on 3/29 :)
Chris was our tour guide and he was awesome! He took us to some great spots that we would have never found or been able to navigate ourselves. The spots were so cute that we went back the next day!
Absolutely amazing. We had a small group of 10 and funnily enough, we were all from Australia. Chris was great. He was very interactive with the group and explained where we were going and what we were having. I have never tried live octopus before, but gave it a shot and it tasted fine. This is my 2nd time doing the food tour and I will recommend it to anyone and would do it again when I am back in South Korea.
Despite the bad weather, he guided us really well and the places we ate were delicious. Definitely going back to the area where the tour was for more things to try.
I had a great time and ate a looot of good food, while exploring a nice area of Seoul. Chris was our guide and he was fantastic.
It was so fun! We had so delicious dishes and could explored the city as well. When we will come back to Korea, I'd like to go to those places again!! Very nice and fun food tour,
This was a really great tour and a nice way to walk around Seoul and have some really good food. I went solo but everyone on the tour was friendly and welcoming.
Chris was an exceptional guide for the food tour. Every place that we visited was unique and gave us a taste of the local food and culture. Chris is a foodie and picked the food courses very well. There was a lot of food and drinks, so come hungry. Hoghly recommend this tour if you are in town.
We stopped at 4 places... Dumpling restaurant, Korean BBQ, ice cream, and finished at the market for Korean pancakes. Food was great and you get to walk through different neighborhoods. Enjoyed getting to meet people from all over the world in the group!
What a fantastic food tour. We had Chris as our guide. Having a good guide makes the biggest difference. Thank you Chris! So much food! The variety of foods, drinks and desserts was grand.
First of all, too many signed up for our tour so two tour guides were assigned. The result was a group of 6 for us. Very nice. Jia was our tour guide. She is a chef instructor, which makes her particularly knowledgeable of food quality and ingredients. Jia was truly delightful. If you choose this tour, bring an appetite. Our entire group was more than fulfilled with a wide sampling of traditional Korean dishes and beverages. We also walked a bit which was welcomed.
Such a nice dining tour, I would definitely recommend it! The hosts were super friendly, accomodating (to my older mom) and relaxed while they led us through the busy narrow alleys of Insadong and Ikseon-dong. We tried new foods, drinks and made new friends! The evening left us satisfied and craving for more Korean food!
The best part of the tour was the graciousness, knowledge and enthusiasm of Jin Choi, the CEO of the company and our tour guide.
We had a wonderful experience with our guide, Jai. We explored little alley ways we would never have been brave enough to go down on our own and started our evening in a traditional ‘after work’ hangout. Jai took us to more hidden gems and gave us lots of insight into Korean culture as we walked through the instagram worthy streets of Insadong. We also picked up recommendations for places to try in future and I hope to do one of her cooking classes next time we come to Seoul.
After reading the La Jolla Mum blog I booked this experience expecting great food and an entertaining evening. Young and Da made the evening much more than that. We went to quirky venues to enjoy authentic Korean food and drinks. We certainly wouldn’t have found these venues on our own. We were part of a big group - but this certainly didn’t impact on our enjoyment. Having a son in Australia of approximately Young’s age, we exchanged ideas on life for his generation in Korea now and in Australia - something that doesn’t usually come with an evening of eating and drinking with new acquaintances. Da was a special treat too - with such a good sense of humour. Of course I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys food. The interesting and entertaining guides were such a bonus. As for my introductory heading...well you will have to take this food tour to find out!
My wife and I had a great time with our host Lynn. She was a gracious, friendly, intelligent, and warm host. She provided us a so many great insights into Korean culture and cuisine. We only had a limited time in Seoul, so this was a great opportunity for us to eat some great food, and be exposed to the Korean food scene. Had sooo much good food and drink - it was delicious! Thank you O'ngo and Lynn!
First things first, K (Kim) is a great and knowledgeable guide. He's really fun and funny. As for the tour, walking around the back alley's of Insadong to local eateries that I would have never looked for is really fun. More so with the small group of people, who by the end of the 3 hours of eating, drinking and walking around, they're more like your friends than just strangers that you met on a tour. The food is pretty "straight forward" Korean food, so nothing that will intimidate or "gross-out" the average person; thus, if you're looking for "challenging" Korean food, like live octopus, this is not that sort of tour. That said, it's just about the food, it's about the company, and this tour is a lot of fun.
The guide, Helen showed her love for food and cooking which added to the great experience as she could talk about the ingredients in each dish and their place in Korean cooking while we tried several of the local specialties. The places they had picked were smaller local places with great atmosphere down side streets. This was a great option to try several local foods in places I would not have found on my own.
We had the best time with Lynn and our small group for the food tour. She was extremely knowledgeable about the food as well as the drinks we were sampling. Lynn went over Korean culture and the connections to the food we were eating. We learned so much during this tour not to mention the amazing food we sampled. We hope to be able to tour again!
I really enjoyed this food tour as it was a great way to experience Korean food without the anxiety of going into a restaurant all by myself. I would've been fine if this group was full, as long as I got to try new food and drinks, but since my group was just one other couple and the tour guide, it was nice and easy to have good conversation. Lynn was very helpful and knowledgeable with the food, drink, and history and was wonderful to talk with. I would definitely recommend this food tour to my friends and colleagues!
Lynn was great! We walked to three places she picked delicious food and was very informative about what we were doing
The tour was very professionally run and even though there was problems with getting enough people for the Friday tour, the tour company was good at communicating and rescheduling to next Monday. The places we went to for food all had a good almost retro like atmosphere. The guide who lead the group was very kind and she told the group many interesting stories about the food, the drink, and her experiences. I think she did a great job of taking a group of strangers and having them bond over food and drinks. Thank you Ongo for this experience!
My wife and I were only in Korea for the weekend and we decided to do a food to tour. Lynn was our tour and she was AWESOME. She explained each dish to and shared some Korean History with us. The food and drinks were GREAT and Lynn made sure we had a excellent time.
My friend and I did this tour on our last night in Seoul. There were five of us including Young. He was very fun and informative. My favorite were the Soju Bombs! I will definitely do this tour again the next time I'm in Seoul!
We did this food tour as part of a business trip to Seoul. Our group had 7 people. Our guide, Young, was terrific! He explained everything well and was very friendly. He even took us to karaoke after the official tour was complete because we'd said we wanted to try it in Seoul! Everyone had a great time!
It was an awesome foodie tour! Lynn was super friendly and an amazing tour guide! She explained every single dish in teaching us the Korean history and culture! The food selection was great as Lynn showed us a few special drinks as well! Gamsa Hamnida Lynn!
I was with 6 others in the group. Our group guild was friendly, fun and a foodie. Enjoyed the the variety of restaurants and the food market. It's easy to bond in a small group and experience the amazing food.
