Seoul Street Food Market Tour

Roky gave us a good introduction with historical information to a Korean market. The food was very good, and we were able to meet the Netflix Korean dumpling lady. The tour was well timed. Roky is very personable as well as knowledgeable.

Don’t go to Seoul without a food tour! Our guide, Juno, did a wonderful job of introducing Korean street food and it was so tasty. There are so many options and things to try that a tour is a great way for a first time visitor to begin to understand Korean street food. I’m so glad we took this tour and highly recommend it.

Our guide was Juno and all the reviews on him were spot on and then some. Juno was enthusiastic, entertaining, knowledgeable and interactive. He knows the market and the vendors well. We fluidly navigated from one place to the next. It was a continual sampling of food and alcohol. Most people won’t leave here hungry. The meeting place was easy to find and all the people on this tour were fun to be around. I highly recommend this tour and Juno!

Primarily set around the Gwangjang Market, we had delicious food! It was a little bit of everything, from the conservative to the more adventurous. Sometimes we stood and other times we sat down for 20-30 minutes. It was a lot of really good food and a ton of fun with the group. Kevin was an excellent host! He even took the time to tell us the history of the market.

Coming all the way from New Zealand, at the bottom of the world, we’ve enjoyed food tours across the globe, especially in Europe, but Yoon’s Gwangjang Market tour was hands down the best! I’ve always loved Korean food back home in NZ, but experiencing it right here in Seoul was something truly special. The food, flavours and atmosphere were incredible! What really made it unforgettable was Yoon. An absolute legend! Funny, engaging, knowledgeable and genuinely passionate. It felt more like exploring the market with a good mate than being on a tour. From three well-travelled Kiwis, this was an absolute cracker and a highlight of our Seoul trip. Yoon, you’ve set the bar bloody high! 🇳🇿🇰🇷❤️

As a solo traveler, finding an experience that feels genuinely inclusive without being forced can be tough. Our guide, Kevin, was great—friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. He did an excellent job bringing the group together and making everyone feel welcome. The tour itself was fantastic and incredibly generous. There was an absolute abundance of delicious food and drinks throughout the evening. Beyond just eating, the overall experience was excellent, especially getting a real introduction to Korean food culture, drinking customs, and local games. It was a well-paced, fun, and authentic night out that I highly recommend to anyone visiting.

Haeji was absolutely wonderful! It was my first night solo in Seoul, and I learned so much about the cuisine. The group was super fun and there was so much intention in the structure of the tour. The experience was lovely. Haeji has so much passion and appreciation for the food and Seoul. Truly cannot recommend it enough!!

Juno is an amazing guide! We had so much fun trying new foods. Juno explained everything and was so enthusiastic about the food and Korean culture! We tried foods that we probably would not have tried on our own, and wouldn’t have even known to ask for. It was a great experience and we recommend it highly.

Had a great daytime/lunch food tour with Roky! I booked and paid easily via TripAdvisor/Viator. Before the actual tour, the communication was very clear and helpful with a location pin and pictures. Communicating directly on Whatsapp was very helpful. We did a two-hour tour with about 12 dishes. Roky explained the stories behind the dishes as well as the history of the market itself. I consider myself well-versed in Korean foods, and even I tried some new things. After the tour, Roky sent out the recap, which was also very helpful. Highly recommend!

The food was delicious and Juno was such a great host. I love that he shared so much helpful information and even some personal stories to make the whole experience warm and inviting! Very well organized too. I now feel prepared to go back to the market on my own to eat some more 😋. Highly recommend for your visit to Seoul!

Roky was an excellent tour guide. He was really fun and also very informative. He also was more than helpful getting us a map download to the meetup and was responsive to our questions. I also have a gluten allergy that he was able to work around, which I don’t expect but always appreciate. The tour guide was great at explaining the food we tried and Korean history. We sampled several different dishes from different restaurants. His explanations were great and very informative.

The food tour was an incredible inside into Korean Food Culture - and the food was incredible througout! Haeji was the best guide you could wish for: very knowledgeable, funny, passionate about her job and very accommodating and considerate when it comes to food you can‘t or don‘t want to eat. Juno made our group tour a fun and informative experience. He was very personable, respectful and knowledgeable of Korean food and the Gwangjang Market . Lee was a fantastic guide! Her native-level English, enthusiasm, and energy made the tour **fun** from start to finish. She was incredibly attentive and made sure everyone felt included and well looked after—from the younger kids and teens to those who weren’t drinking alcohol. We tried a great variety of traditional Korean food. Don’t expect Michelin-star dining—this is all about enjoying local food and a wonderful cultural experience. We also learned some fun Korean drinking games, and the more adventurous among us tried octopus that was still moving! A wonderful experience overall, made even better by Lee’s warmth and hospitality. Highly recommended!

Jacob did a great job of providing and explaining all of the interesting and sometimes unusual foods. Don’t worry if you don’t want to try them all. It’s fun to watch and meet your fellow travelers.

Tan was a great guide who hit all the highlights of the market. He was upbeat, fun, knowledgeable and spoke English very well. Go hungry and be willing to experiment. We learned a few drinking games as well.

We had an amazing time in this street food tour. The Kimbap, Mungbean pancake, Beef tartar, noodles etc tasted incredible. The tour with Kevin was light hearted, informative and well-planned. This was a wonderful way to experience the street food culture of South Korea!

This was such a cool trip. I’m so glad I went on it. Tan was a great tour guide and a lot of fun. He explained everything well and shared his culture with us, which is awesome. I loved all the food on the tour, even the moving tentacles which I haven’t had before but you gotta try everything once!

Great variety of foods and almost no waiting time. We had tteokbokki, fried pancakes, dumplings, soup, gimbap, octopus, beef tartare, donuts, and other things I’m forgetting. Our guide did his best to accommodate dietary needs or preferences. Everything was delicious and we didn’t have to wait in line or struggle with communication this way. I don’t think the live octopus is for everyone, so perhaps mention that in preferences beforehand in case it is upsetting. I also wish we had more time to eat everything because it felt like there was sometimes food left behind as we needed to move onto the next stop. Thankfully, our guide helped me take some to go. This is really good for solo travellers who want to try a lot but don’t want to fill up on one dish, and who might have choice paralysis on what is “good” to try.

We love the food tour. We got to try many of the dishes we were interested in and were happy that everything was great. Enough time spent in every food vendor location. Our guide made sure everyone had enough food and drinks !!! Taught us respectful manners, games and told us great stories about Seoul. Def recommend !! Also, try to do the tour at the beginning of your trip so you can get all the great foods first at good vendors.

I booked this tour based off a friend’s recommendation, and it was so worth it! Tan the tour guide was excellent, super informative and fun. We ate a lot of delicious food, learned some history about the market and played some fun drinking games. I also enjoyed getting to meet other travelers. I’d highly recommend you do this towards the beginning of your trip so that you know what food spots to eat later on! Definitely come hungry, as the food is unlimited, and I wish I could have eaten more 😅Thanks for an awesome experience Tan!

Outstanding tour and was really valuable to learn about the local food and their amazing food markets. Also pur guide GJ was brilliant. She was only around 28 ish but knew so much about her culture and city. It was fun. Plus she gave tips on other great food and beer districts in Seoul to visit. Thank you so much for a great experience.

Fabulous fun evening with Tan who was a great guide with endless enthusiasm. We tried circa 10 different items and all delicious -even the wriggling live octopus!! The beef tartare, dumplings and rice flour doughnuts were two of my favourites but all delicious and we left stuffed (having had no lunch! ). Great to try the rice wine and soju too and learn how to make a soju bomb. Highly recommended. We also had a great bunch of fellow travellers who added to the experience.
