Fantastic value for money and a brilliant guide. We were late to arrive and Sarah did not make a big fuss out of it at all, made sure we felt completely included even though we joined late, and was just absolutely brilliant at ensuring we knew where to meet up. We were part of a really friendly and diverse group and Sarah ensured we all had time to chat to each other and get to share each others experiences. There was a really nice moment Sarah shared about her grand mothers experience after the Korea split and how it has influenced the cooking in her household considering she is from the opposite end of Korea. A genuinely fantastic experience, having never done a cooking class before anywhere, considering my family's new found love of Korean culture and food, we are so glad we booked this! Thank you Sarah. You were amazing!!!
Wow just wow. I can’t oversell this class. I book a cooking class at least once a year in a different country and this one was easily the best. Ms. Junghee is incredible. Immediately made us feel like we’ve been friends forever. We were walking around the market, chatting, and sharing snacks like we were best friends haha. She invited us into her home which was obviously welcoming but made it all so much more authentic. She made the cooking/ steps straightforward and holy cow, SO delicious. I didn’t realize scallion pancakes were that easy to make. She sent us all the full recipes after so we get to try on our own at home. It’s hard to put into words how amazing the entire experience was. Just do yourself a favor and book this class!
Very nice experience! I really like the market tour and cooking class with Junghee Yoon. All dishes were deliciuos and I will make them at home. I very recomend!
Ms. Junghee Yoon, was a fantastic cooking instructor who truly inspired my love for Korean food. She was very welcoming, inclusive, and personable. My wife Phirinya and enjoy throughly and would recommend this course to anyone wanting to experience what Korean cooking is like. Junghee, thank you so much for your incredible hospitality and for making us feel right at home. Heartily Recommend!
This is a must do activity. We were fortunate to have a private session. The dishes we made were traditional Korean and the information she provided along with each dish was super interesting! The dishes were delicious and surprising easy to make (meaning I will defintely replicate at home)
It was the best experience from visiting the local market, a short walk to her home & cooking studio, and a great class. It was not rushed, very informative and you leave with recipes, photos and all you need to know to cook on your own.
We had a wonderful experience! The host was genuine, so kind and a great cook. Even with limited cooking experience you would have a wonderful time and a wonderful meal. We love authentic experiences and this was perfect! Got to learn about culture and food while having fun!
Wow! ‘Sarah’ was informative and funny and not only walked us through making several Korea dishes but explained their origins and how Korean food differs between regions. I can’t give enough stars. Absolutely a great experience!
Junghee provided a lot of information about Korean cooking and seasonal ingredients, and she makes it really easy to follow the recipes!
Excellent experience, and so tasty! I will definitely be trying these dishes at home. Junghee is so warm, welcoming and knowledgeable, it was impossible not to enjoy it!
What a fantastically fun way to dip one’s toes into the culture for a little bit!! Jung-Hee weaves you through Korean culture in a thoughtful, fun, observant and enthusiastic manner- so entertaining! The dishes are delicious and fun to make, and Jung-Hee’s instructions are easy to follow! Loved her stories! We had such a great time! Highly recommend it- 💯!
Truly exceptional! Junghee is an absolute delight. She has thoughtfully designed the class around meals that are delicious and something anyone can cook at home. Class size is optimal. There was plenty of space to work and it was easy to keep together as we toured the two markets. Junghee is a gracious, patient host and a wealth of knowledge. Knowledge which she shares enthusiastically with a smile. I would absolutely reccomend this class to anyone with even a dash of curiosity. 10/10
Junghee was our cooking teacher. She was very friendly, welcoming and entertaining as she walked us through a huge produce market before hosting us in her home for a very fun and engaging cooking experience. Highly recommend this tour!
"Sara" was fantastic! Super positive vibe, fun to be around, witty! Cooking class easy to follow and should be easy to replicate! Would highly recommend!
Sarah was incredible. She was hospitable, friendly, funny, and an overall delight. She walked us through a local market where we sampled street food and were greeted by vendors who knew her. Sarah pointed out local produce and their use in Korean cooking while being humorous. Sarah was such an amazing hostess. In addition to providing cooking instruction and recipes she also provided recommendations to other attractions in Seoul. I highly recommend booking with her. It’ll be the highlight of your trip.
Excellent experience. Got a walkthrough of the market, got to try some local market snacks. Learned to make 3 dishes, learned about Korean culture, definitely a core memory. Highly recommend. Thank you Sarah, for the brilliant experience.
Junghee is an excellent host and she made learning about Korean cuisine a truly fun, delicious, and nurturing (in every sense ;) experience! Going through the market and learning from ingredients before even start using them was amazing, and the fact that she opens her own home to you is incredibly generous. Definitely one the top highlights from our trip to Korea! 100% recommended!
It was a very fun cooking class. Junghee made the experience personable, getting to know each participant, shared Korean foods from the market, teaching us Korean words and culture. More importantly, the food was delicious with a few ingredients. I probably cooked the best chicken in my life 😋
This was by far the best things I did during my trip yo Seoul!! It was so interesting to experience another culture and to learn so much. My husband never took a cooking class before this and he loved it too🫶🏼 I live on Hawaii and I’ve been on a lot of tours, but this by far was one of the best things I’ve done.
Wow and wow! Our cooking class with Hello K was one of the highlights of our time in Korea. Our hostess/teacher prepared a delicious meal that thoughtfully accommodated a variety of dietary needs and preferences. She was cheerful, relatable, and incredibly approachable, making the entire experience relaxed and fun. We learned a few Korean words, discovered fascinating Korean food traditions, and enjoyed cooking alongside someone who shared her knowledge and culture like a friend. We all left happy, very full, and grateful for such a memorable experience. We highly recommend the Hello K cooking class to anyone visiting Korea!
Definitely a highlight of our trip to Seoul! Sarah is not only knowledgeable but her passion for food and meeting people shines through. The walk through the market at the beginning was a great introduction to local produce and the cooking class was executed perfectly. Everything was easily explained and all our dishes came out well and we're delicious! Everything is easy to recreate back home too. Highly recommend the excursion!
A fantastic experience with a great market-tour and delicious food! The sweetest and most skilled teacher. Fluent English and very easy to follow. We will definitely recommend this class!
Wow, do not miss! this ! Sarah is fantastic, informative, educational and entertaining. We love going to her class. The meeting place was not too bad (allow extra time) and Sarah was very together: the market tour was extremely interesting and the actually cooking was great. Seriously do not miss.
This cooking class was one of my very favorite things I did during my 9 days in Seoul. I've only ever taken one other cooking class (in Japan), and this was definitely the better of the two: it included a market tour (where Junghee/Sarah bought us delicious melon popsicles to counteract the mid-90s heat) and we made 4 dishes. It was more food than most of us could finish! Junghee was an incredibly engaging guide and instructor, keeping us all attentive despite the heat while we were in the market and while we cooked our dishes in her (very well air-conditioned) home. Junghee was also very gracious about accommodating my vegetarianism and inability to eat mushrooms; my dishes were delicious even without meat. (Just make sure you give her a heads-up when you register!) She shared the recipes with us after class, and I'm looking forward to making them now that I'm home.
Sarah is wonderful! She's very engaging and makes the class a really fun experience. She welcomed us into her home and shared lovely stories about herself, Korean food and culture. The market visit was very interesting and we even got to taste some kimbap along the way. One thing to note, this is a several hour long experience. While we enjoyed the class, we felt it could be sped up a bit it the conversations were limited. All in all, highly recommend!
Junghee was an amazing host that taught us about Korea, food, and cooking. She engaged the group in thoughtful ways and enabled us to make a delicious meal that will help us remember our visit.
The visit to the market beforehand was a really nice touch. It was interesting to learn about Korean ingredients and sample a few local foods before heading to Sarah’s home. Sarah was incredibly friendly and approachable, making everyone feel relaxed and welcome from the start. We worked in pairs at our own cooking stations facing Sarah and cooked four Korean dishes together, following her demonstrations step by step. Once everything was ready, we enjoyed our meal alongside several additional dishes that Sarah had prepared for us. The only downside was the pace, which felt quite slow at times. We spent over half an hour chopping vegetables while Sarah chatted with the group. The conversation was enjoyable, but the class could have moved along a little more quickly. Overall, it was a fun, authentic experience and a great way to learn about Korean cooking. I would definitely recommend it.
We cannot recommend this experience enough. This was a wonderful way to learn more about local life in Korea. We started with a market tour to pick up some ingredients, and learned about foods and local produce along the way. We then enjoyed the cooking class inside the home of our instructor. We made various dishes, all of which were delicious, and we will be making once we get home. Definitely do this tour, no matter your cooking experience.
Our tour guide/teacher was very friendly and personable. She met me with a smile and was very knowledgeable about Korean customs and food culture. We made several delicious dishes and ate what we made together. It was very enjoyable and I would recommend this tour to a friend.
I really enjoyed the cooking class - they happily answered any questions during market visit, cooking or afterwards - I learned sooo much! I also really love that the recipes are simple enough that I can actually cook those dishes back at home more often (and not just once a year). The food we made was absolutely delicious! Thank you both for the hospitality!
Astonishingly good! Junghee was outstanding (an absolute masterclass in how to be a top guide) and the whole experience was outstanding. Crucially the food was outstanding and extremely tasty. Highly highly recommended. You will not regret it!
What an amazing experience. Junghee was a very entertaining host and we thoroughly enjoyed the market tour, cooking class and dinner. Thank you for teaching us about Korean culture, language and the delicious food. These recipes are great and we will definitively cook them at home now.
Fabulous experience—I’m not a cook, but joined the tour because family members wanted to go. Our host was so accommodating and energetic. We loved the market experience, but mostly enjoyed being welcomed into her home to have a personable and informative cooking lesson. She shared antidotes that made the experience so immersive.
I took the tour on 19 June with my daughter and mother. It was an enriching and fun experience exploring the market and cooking the dishes. Junghee was approachable and informative. No stress at all if you do not cook. My family thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class. The time was well spent. We will do this again if we are back in Seoul.
This was the most fun thing we did in Korea. The host was so friendly and engaging and it enabled us to see the Korean culture first hand. The trip to the market was fun and informative and the actual cooking was so much fun!
Lovely cooking class. Junghee is a wonderful, warm host, very knowledgeable about Korean food, and with a lovely sense of humor. Highly recommend this class!
We had a marvelous time on the market tour and cooking with Junghee. It was our first day in Seoul and this experience made for a great introduction to different foods, cultural history, and a little bit of language. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed it!
This was a super fun way to spend a few hours cooking and learning more about the Korean culture. I highly recommend.
Sarah was amazing! She was so interesting, engaging, organized and fun!! We loved the market tour and the food we cooked was terrific!!! We would definitely do this class again and strongly recommend it!!!
Traveling with my 20-something year old daughters, this experience was one of our favorites. Junghee is a delightfully warm and funny chef. The tour through the market was interesting as Junghee pointed out things like giant spring onions and how sesame seeds are toasted. We prepared Korean dishes from scratch and then enjoyed our meals together with the other participants. The Korean pancake was my favorite, daughters liked the bibimbap, everything was delicious! This was a highlight of our trip; highly recommend!
down to earth, incredibly welcoming and making everyone feel safe. very hospitable and was easy to communicate with, and even giving out recs to other places! would 100% book again and felt like i was being immersed in korea.
Junghee’s k-cooking class was so much fun and our whole family including my two teenage children enjoyed themselves a lot! She is super friendly and energetic, and made the class a very lively session. Highly recommend!
Absolutely amazing! My friends and I were able to make amazing food and we loved the market tour! Junghee was so sweet and taught very well. I would 100% recommend her if are interested!
Jonji (I’m so sorry if I butchered the spelling!!) was an absolutely incredible, amazing host. Absolutely no notes, 10/10 experience I would wholeheartedly recommend this for absolutely anyone visiting Seoul (or even locals!! She’s amazing!!) Myself and 4 of my friends travelled to Seoul this June and felt that the main thing we wanted to do was experience some real Korean food and meet Korean people in a natural, casual environment. Jonji was the perfect match. She met us at the subway station near her home and from the get-go she was a bubbly, entertaining, enthusiastic extrovert who went straight to work at helping us all feel comfortable with each other - there were a few other couples with us to make a total group of 10. We had wanted to avoid the “professional tour guide” vibe and this was perfect for us as Jonji led us straight to the markets to pick up some ingredients for dinner. She showed us around her local market, picking up some “honeydew apples”, showing us some tteokbokki and even introducing us to some of the local vendors! The trip around the market was a really friendly introduction to Jonji and Korean food shopping while also being hugely informative. She showed us various exotic foods - like live octopus and cuttlefish - and with each one, she would accompany personal anecdotes about what food meant to her, her favourite memories of food, and what it was like to live in Seoul. She told us about making kimchi with her grandmother, explained how various fermented ingredients used to be prepared historically versus today and even taught us how to order doughnuts in korean!! Throughout the walk through the markets, we really felt Junji’s passion for her city and her country and culture and most of all - how much she wanted to share it and show it off to us. Eventually, we finished up with the markets and she led us into her home, where she had set up a 10-station kitchen to lead us through cooking Bibimbap, some soup, some traditional Korean pancakes and a few other dishes. She gave us rice wine, had us using mortar and pestle to grind ingredients by hand and each of us made our own dinners with our own special spin on it. Throughout the day, she continued to regale us with stories about her country, her life, some personal details about her own life story and made it by far the most memorable and enjoyable experience we’ve done so far in Seoul. I really can’t express enough the sheer enthusiasm with which she conducts her business. She is a very impressive lady who clearly LOVES her job and in the end we felt like we’d made a friend out of the experience. Her energy is just infectious. Afterward, we’ve stayed in contact with her through our trip and she’s been absolutely fantastic for recommendations for other things to do around Seoul - we’re taking her recommendation tonight for a Korean BBQ!! All round, I cannot recommend this experience enough. Thank you Jonji for an amazing day!!!!
Amazing experience! We learned a lot more about Korean food and culture than you ever could in a museum... And also how to cook a really delicious meal :) Organisationen was perfect, highly recommend!
This was so much fun! Junghee does such an amazing job with this experience. From the walk through the Mangwon market to learning some Korean phrases and history, this was so much more than just a cooking class. As first-timers to South Korea, this was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and feel immersed in the culture. I would do this again!
This was one of the most interactive and fun cooking classes I’ve ever done. What I loved most about it was learning the traditional ways of people from Seoul & learning to speak some more Korean . Junghee speaks fluent English and was so passionate and funny too. It was so nice to be invited into her home and the cooking experience was hands on, easy to learn with great flavours. The best part was sitting down to eat it . Honestly if your going to Seoul book this in, you won’t regret it
This class was so fun, even though I had never taken a cooking class before and can’t say I’m the best cook. It began with a market tour where she explained the ingredients, what’s in season and what isn’t, among other things. Junghee is a very friendly, positive, and social person, and she is considerate of anyone with food restrictions. I was a solo traveler and maybe not the most talkative person, but the whole experience felt very light-hearted and easygoing. It was such a fun experience that it made me want to try more cooking classes in the future. You get a lot out of this experience, and I can almost guarantee that you’ll leave the class smiling and feeling good.
We had such a fantastic experience at this cooking class in Seoul. Junghee was incredibly friendly, enthusiastic, and welcoming from start to finish, creating a really fun and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved. She explained everything clearly, shared lots of interesting insights about the dishes and Korean cooking techniques, and made the whole experience feel approachable regardless of cooking ability. The food we made was absolutely delicious, and we left feeling both very full and genuinely knowledgeable. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Seoul and something we’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Korea and wanting a more authentic, hands-on experience
