We had a wonderful time visiting the Korean Folk Village and Suwon Hwaseong Fortress. Our tour guide, June, was fantastic! She was friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgeable about Korean history and culture. She shared interesting stories and information throughout the day, which made visiting these places even more enjoyable. June was also very personable, took the time to answer everyone’s questions, and made sure everyone was comfortable. The tour was well organized, and we had plenty of opportunities to explore and take photos. We really enjoyed spending the day with June and would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting South Korea. If you get June as your guide, you’re in great hands!

Harry was a fantastic guide and knows so much information on the sites we visited. It was a well paced and pleasant day.
Our small group had the guide Mr Jonathan Kim, he was excellent. Very knowledgeable man with a lovely way of telling you the facts. It was interesting to visit the Korean folk village and the musical entertainment was very good. It was great to see traditional Korean music and costumes. Suwon fortress was impressive. The market at the end was not for everyone but I liked to see typical Koreans buying produce for everyday life.
Great low-maintenance historical tour. The guide had a lot of knowledge about korean history and told us something very interesting at every stop! A must see if you are a fan of historical drama's and want to learn more about korean history.
Harry the guide was great. Caring, very knowledgeable, accommodating, flexible. We enjoyed the places we went and he made sure that we understood their importance. We highly recommend him for the trip.
The summer tours start in the afternoon to avoid the heat of the day - and that is an absolute necessity! Even with the shift in the schedule, I had a hard time dealing with the heat at times - so come prepared (water, a fan, umbrella for the sun etc)! Harry was a great guide. He went out of his way to minimize the impact of the heat. At each of the three stops, he gave us an introduction to the area and then allowed us to explore on our own if we wanted to at the fortress and the following village, we also had the option of staying with him for additional guided touring. The option was greatly appreciated - I was able to see what I wanted of the fortress at my own pace before buying an ice cream and drink and finding some shade. The folk village does involve a lot of walking - most of it shaded - if you want to take advantage of it. There are some great food options - traditional Korean items - that are perfect for a quick dinner (the sweet rice drink was delicious!). And the night time music and dance performance was outstanding - the seats (on stone steps and a few logs) fill up early, so I recommend getting there ahead of time for the best view (so you can see the stage from the front). A great way to see some things outside of Seoul! Highly recommend.
Enjoyable day. Harry was passionate in showing and describing our featured stops. Wonderful performance at the folk village! Performance alone was worth the tour. Suggest you eat in town, not the folk village.
The tour was great, especially the Folk Village! Harry was the BEST guide!! He was very welcoming, organized and went out of his way to make sure we were having a good time. He shared so much interesting information along the tour and we learned so much!
Exceptional tour. As i was the only English speaker in the group, I had my own guide who gave me a lot of insight and information about the tour destinations. It was a good combination of guided and individual time to explore. Plenty of opportunities to eat throughout the day as well. I loved the folk village - it is so big you definitely don't have time to explore it in full during the tour, but now i know i want to head back there on my next Korea trip.
This was a great history of Josun full day tour. Although it was a little difficult to fully understand our guide, she did an amazing job of sharing her knowledge of the dynasty and current culture. The Folk village was great for our family (think EPCOT). The highlight of the trip was the visit to the music culture hall (Wednesdays only). After visiting the Fortress, we visited the market in Suwon, which was meh, but interesting to see an authentic market. Plan for a long day. Definitely recommend if you have the time.
This was a great day out. Our guide was very informative about Korea’s history and he looked after us well. I can’t believe I actually sang Arirang with Gugak musicians. Well worth the tour fee.
Be sure to wear your walking shoes and bring a hat & sunscreen if it’s a sunny day. Our tour guide (Laura) was very knowledgeable.
The Folk Village was my favorite part. Nice to see a broader range of history than just palaces. The Fortress was also interesting, if a bit of a hike. I wasn’t expecting a trip to a traditional market in Suwon, and having already been to one in Seoul, it was not the best use of time. I would rather have had more time at the Folk Village.
If you only have one day, this tour is the one to choose! Be sure to wear your comfy shoes for walking. :) Gina was knowledgeable and organized which made everything run smoothly. There’s no way we could have fit so much in if we tried touring alone. Thank you for a great day!
It was a really good day. The tour was really good. It was complete and at a good pace. Our guide Cecilia was the best.
Jonathon was an amazing guide on this tour. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. You can really tell how much he loves history and giving these tours. We had a lovely day at the folk village and the fortress. Very educational and fun. We did a lot but it never felt rushed.
Wonderful tour and experience. Jonathan was an excellent guide, he took the time to answer our questions and gave us so much good information about the history of Korea and current times as well. The village was quite fun and the fortress was cool. Ending at the market was perfect to get snacks. Highly recommended
The guide is very knowledgeable. Kudos to Joon Chang! The time allocated for each site is just nice.
This was a fantastic tour. Our guide, Cecilia, was extremely knowledgeable about Korean history and even broke down the kings of the josean era seen frequently in Korean dramas. Cecelia has a very welcoming personality and does a great job of giving you a preliminary tour and enough free time to explore any stop on your own. This is a tour I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Korea who want a glimpse of the country's past. Thank you Cecilia for the amazing tour!
Joon’s an excellent tour guide. He gave a lot of insightful information to Korea’s history. It really enhanced my visit to the country
Had a great trip with our guide Joon. I really liked the organization about the timing and excursions. Both guided tours and some free time in each location. Also compliments to Joon about keeping up the pace, because typically you end up just slowly walking through all the locations. Saw some great sights, learned about the history and tried some local delicacies. Overall, recommended.
Great tour! Joon was an excellent guide. He shared the history & culture of Korea with a lot of passion! Appreciated the effort he put in with ensuring we learned a lot on the tour. Thank you Joon.
We had a lovely day visiting the town, the wall, and market. Gina, the tour guide, explained everything very clearly and made the atmosphere great. The town is amazing. I wish we had something like that back home. It is made of original buildings transported to this site. Good food. Immersive. Passionate workers. I could spend a whole day here. The wall was picturesque. We went on a sunny day in late November. The market was nice. Busy and full of things to try. I would recommend knowing where things are before arriving.
Thank you, for a joyful trip! We will hold these memories with us forever. And thanks to Laura for your kindness and being the best tour guide ☺️
Joon was very informative and patient with everybody in the group. Couldn’t recommend him more in this folk village and fortress tour.
This was a very enjoyable tour. The 3 hour period for the Korean Folk Village was plenty. After the guided tour part there was lots of time to wander around at my own pace. The tour around the fortress was informative and interesting. The last stop at the traditional market was fascinating, it's a very different experience to markets in Europe. Our guide June was very clear on timing and where we had to be and when. She was helpful and informative. I would definitely recommend this tour.
The places we visited, especially the Folk Village, was very nice but we needed a lot more time at the site to fully appreciate it. I felt rushed the whole time. Having headsets was a plus.
Folk village has excellent shows, the fortress was interesting, but not something I would make a special trip for. The guide was extremely nice.
Full on day across a range of cultural experiences from history [Folk Village] to modern traditional market Hwaesong Fortress, Suwon
This tour is worth taking part. Joon was our guide and was friendly and very informative about korean history and culture. Just wish we had more time im minsokchon. Otherwise it's a great experience.
This was, hands down, the best day trip I've ever done thus far. Our trip started at 9am, we went straight to the Korean folk village. The village is quite big and it was very instructive to see the traditional houses and the tools used by Korean people in the past. We went then to see a show of traditional music and dance. The dancers were very skilled and energetic, the show was fun and enjoyable to watch. After the show we had the chance to mingle with the dancers, take photos wearing Korean traditional outfits and try some of the props used by the entertainers. The last stop was at the Suwon Hwaseong fortress, where we had the opportunity to pick two of the three activities available (at an additional cost, which was very, very reasonable). We picked the pairing of soju and makgeolli with Korean foods and the photoshoot wearing hanbok (traditional Korean dress). Both activities were fun, very well organized and a great value. We had enough time to briefly visit the fortress and take nice pictures. The day trip ended around 7pm, not before we received plenty gifts from the organizers. If you have the time, please take this trip, you won't regret it!
We thoroughly enjoyed this long tour, and our tour guide Gina just made it much more enjoyable. We learned a lot from her about the histories of both places (traditional folk village and the fortress). Additionally, the traditional performance at 11am was just so beautiful. One suggestion to the tour company is the give more time at the fortress (it was a large area to cover) and less time (30 mins instead of 1.5 hours). Gina took great carefoenall of us the whole time so five stars to her. A++++
I touring Seoul with Gina was a great experience to learn about the Korean culture and landmarks. Excellent tour.
Everything was great!!! Julie is an amazing guide, a variety of things to do, great for all ages!!!!!
Great experience visiting Korean Folk Village and the fortress. An added special performance of the traditional music and hanbok dress-up in the cultural center was a wonderful addition to the tour that truly stood out. Julie is a great guide, engaging and informative. Multiple pick-up points are conveniently located. Overall, a highlight of our trip and a great value.
Our tour guide Joon was very knowledgeable and spoke good English. The tour was interesting, I just wish we would have better weather (it was raining the entire time). The ethnic village was lovely, the museum with the depictions of everyday lives was my personal highlight.
Fantastic and friendly tour guide! Wonderful sights. A must see when in Korea! We enjoyed this tour very much!
Laura has been very helpful and nice and despite the heavy rain, she guided us and shared a lot of knowledge with us. Highly recommended!
What a great tour! The Korean Folk Village is not an actual village where people live but rather more like a theme park/ tourist attraction. However it was really interesting to learn about how people lived during the Chosun Dynasty. The music performance was very nice. The Suwon Hwaesong Fortress was impressive to see and walk around. Our tour guide, Johnathan had excellent stories to tell about the history of the place. Our last stop at the market was very delicious. We tried hotteok, spicy fishcake, a sausage, and a sweet rice drink. Our tour guide was so helpful and had great recommendations! This tour is definitely worth it! Thank you Johnathan!
Laura was our knowledgeable guide and she did a Great Job in the extreme heat. I really enjoyed the tour learning about the old days in Korea. We walked along the Fortress wall and took refuge from the heat in the building over the stream. Overall 5 Star Experience.
The views were amazing, but our guides Cecilia and Shan Mai were even better. Cecilia, our English tour guide, gave the best information on every location, took the best pictures and made sure we constantly stayed cool in the extreme heat. If you’re visiting, take this tour and ask if you can have her as the guide.
Cecicila did a very good job, besides the high temperatures today, time flew by!!! Archery optional was fun and the bus was VIP!!
Had a great day with our lovely guide Cecilia who was very informative and also made sure we were comfortable on an incredibly hot day!
Julia is very informative. She gave details information of the places visited and more giving us insight of the Korean culture. Thank you Julia
Excellent and fun packed day tour from Seoul. Convenient pickup and drop off. Friendly tour guides. Amazing experience overall!
Laura was a very knowledgeable tour guide. We really enjoyed our day with her. The fortress was breathtaking. We also enjoyed our time in the folk village. The performance was enjoyable.
Laura was great. She pointed out many interesting things and taught us a lot about Korean history. Even though it was scorching hot, she kept a positive attitude and pointed out places to cool off and find cold drinks. Our kids enjoyed it - their favourite part was the folk village. We enjoyed the tour, and made lots of memories!
This was a superior tour experience! The communication with the tour company, the comfort and efficiency of the transport, and the engaging guide (Stella) sharing her personal anecdotes, all helped to make this tour a memorable experience for us. Strongly recommend!
Stella was a great guide And this tour was better than expected One suggestion is that the tour company advises participants to be at meeting point 15 minutes early We had to wait for late people at 2 pick up points As a result we were late for 1st performance show at the Village The village is far larger than we thought and you really need to optimise your time Stella provided excellent guiding in both village and Fortress which was interesting Personally I would have skipped market visit and return to Seoul earlier
I really enjoyed the Korean Village experience. If you like culture and history you should do this tour without hesitation. The tour guide Stella explained everything in detail. I totally recommend this trip. Then, we went to see the fortress which again Stella explained everything perfectly with detail. Finally, we went to the Market where we ate and had free time to explore.
