Itinerary
As soon as arrive at Imjingak Peace Park, you will tour this park with your guide which includes a ticket office, tour spot, toilets and some snack bars. The tour spot offer interesting monuments such as the statue of peace, Mangbaedan, Freedom Bridge and Jangdan Station steam locomotive. You can understand them deeply through the guide's professional commentary. After the tour, you will board the bus and head to the checkpoint.
Mangbaedan is a memorial altar built for people who were separated from their families during the Korean War. Since they could not return to their hometowns in North Korea, they used this site to bow toward their ancestral homes. It is still visited, especially during traditional holidays, by those wishing to honor their families.
You arrive at the Third Tunnel, the representative infiltration tunnel in South Korea. There are four invading tunnels in South Korea, and this one is the most popular place among them. It is 1635 m long and height and wide are about 2m respectively. As it is located 73 m underground, it takes about 20 minutes for tourists to get near the border. Safety helmets are required because the slopes are steep and there are many stones around the tunnel.
Dora Observatory is located on top of Dorasan mountain in the DMZ area. It is about five minutes away from the bus parking lot. Inside the building, there is a large window and you can look down on North Korean territory. The area includes the Kaesong Industrial Complex, a few statues of dictators, JSA, the border between the two Koreas, a fake village and guard posts. Before you arrive at the observatory, a tour guide will explain the North Korean area in detail.
Tongilchon Village is the last place on the DMZ Tour and the largest one in the DMZ area. It was created for international propaganda with government support in the 1970s. In order to create the village, the government referred to the Israeli city of Kibbutz. It currently has about 400 residents and most of them are engaged in agriculture.

Our DMZ tour was brilliant. The whole day ran to time, and the small group meant navigating security checkpoints to exploring the Third Infiltration Tunnel and Dora Observatory went smoothly. Bill’s knowledge of Korean history was also really helpful and Mr. Kim did a great job driving. Highly recommended!
Great half day tour with Bill Hwang
Great experience. Bill was an excellent guide and went beyond expectations I would highly recommend this tour
Bill gave us a stellar tour of the DMZ! His communication was excellent, even well before the tour started (like for pick up information.) He kept me apprised of everything, and was very detail oriented and timely. The van was super comfortable and clean, and the driver was great as well. The DMZ was such a fascinating place to be, with the juxtaposition between tension and peace. I’d always wanted to go, and now I can finally say I have! We definitely made the right choice to go through a small group to do this tour. We got such excellent service and got to ask to many questions.
Outstanding DMZ Tour! Picked up at our hotel in Seoul which was extra nice. Our Guide: Bill Hwang was as friendly as he was knowledgeable. Driver Kim was professional as well. Small group tour allowed closer interaction w/ less interruptions which Bill handled with aplomb. Beware: the tunnel experience can be strenuous if you decide to hike it rather than taking the tram but was still a lot of fun. Absolutely recommend Bill and the small group tour!
Bill gave us an excellent tour of the DMZ, with level appropriate knowledge, many photo spots, and clear instructions. He gave us lots of additional context without overwhelming us, and was very friendly and informative. He let us enjoy our time together as a family too instead of dominating the conversation. I highly recommend Bill as a tour guide, and this tour as a whole!
We had an amazing experience visiting the DMZ with Michael! He picked us up early in the morning and made the entire journey enjoyable by keeping us entertained while sharing so much valuable knowledge and historical context about the DMZ. He made sure we understood what we were going to experience, which really added to the overall experience. Michael is an amazing host and tour guide who genuinely cares about his guests. He was attentive, welcoming and made sure everyone was comfortable and well looked after throughout the day. His knowledge, personality and passion made the tour both informative and memorable. Highly recommend Michael to anyone looking to visit the DMZ in Korea. You’ll be in great hands! Thank you, Michael, for such a wonderful experience! 😊
Michael was a great guide - look no further if you’re looking to book a DMZ tour with a shorter itinerary. He bring humour and a wealth of knowledge to each of the shops, sharing the rich history of this important site.
Michael was an amazing tour guide! He was informative, energetic, friendly, and passionate, making the whole experience fun and engaging. He shared lots of interesting insights and made everyone feel welcome. Highly recommend Michael for a fantastic tour! 😊
We attended this tour on 28th October 2026. Our tour guide - Bill Hwang - and driver - Mr Kim - were fantastic. As we had only booked a few days beforehand we needed to get to the DMZ early in order to get tickets for the monorail. I think you can reserve tickets for the monorail in advance but they only release a limited number and we booked too late for that however by getting there early (6.40 am) we were second in line to get tickets. The ticket office opens at 9am so Bill took us around the peace park and we had some time for coffee etc. The DMZ tour takes you to the third tunnel, observatory and farmers market. The whole tour was 3 hours approximately. After the DMZ we visited a restaurant in the mountain which served authentic Korean food. This was excellent and vegetarian friendly. After this we visited a local Buddhist temple and the suspension bridge over Marian lake which was a sight to behold. Bill was extremely knowledgable and engaging throughout the day. He was able to speak authoritatively on Korean life and culture in general as well as the history of Korea and the DMZ with good humour even on very serious topics. Mr Kim gave us the smoothest of rides from door to door. I would recommend this private tour - we started at 5.50 and came back home at 16.15. They can tailor the tour for you as needed if you want it shortest. Thanks again to Bill and Mr Kim!
We had a great tour with Bill! he was very informative and able to answer all of our questions! Pickup and drop off in Seoul was amazing! Great communication as well!
Bill was a great tour guide. Very kind and informative and he made pick up and drop off very easy as well. He took great photos for us as well.
Great experience! Tour guide was super friendly, funny and effective. Lots of knowledge were shared. Thank for everything Michael.
Great experience with our guide Michael. Highly recommend
My DMZ tour was absolutely wonderful! Thanks in large part to my guide, Si-Yeon. Knowledgeable as she is affable, Si-Yeon (aka Eleven!) makes the tour feel like getting to know Korea through the eyes of a friend.
Our guide, Si-yeon (who also goes by “Eleven”) was absolutely fantastic. She’s very knowledgeable of Korean history and was able to share in a way we could easily follow. She’s also very pleasant and personable, and took great care of it. We got to visit the third tunnel (you WILL work up a sweat), the Dora observatory to look over into North Korea, and the Liberation Village for snacks and souvenirs. Highly recommend, but I suggest getting an early start to beat the crowds, we left at 5:30am and STILL we weren’t the first group to arrive!
Great experience from the information after booking, the energy from Michael when picking us up. The advice to leave early was great as we beat the crowds and was on the first bus out to the DMZ. The information about Korea’s history was easy to follow and gave context to the Korean War. The DMZ was a place of mixed emotions for us as a family, but it felt like there is a real desire to reunite Korea with an understanding of the difference in cultures. If you are booking I could recommend requesting Michael.
Michael was a great tour guide! He was thoughtful and entertaining and very knowledgeable about the area from his time actually patrolling the area. He was super helpful, and even helping us align the binoculars so we can spot points of interest along the DMZ, before doing the same for other tourists too!
We did the DMZ with Micheal who was energetic, informative and entertaining. We enjoyed the tour very much would highly recommend Micheal.
Michael was a fantastic guide. He was very cheerful, friendly, and accommodating and brought a great sense of energy to the whole experience. Also very knowledgeable, with even some firsthand experience. Would absolutely recommend. Thanks Michael! The whole event itself was very informative and eye-opening!
What a GREAT experience with Michael ! A on e in a lifetime visit, with a lot of storytellings and explanation. 110% recommended !
Really enjoyed this tour. Our guide Michael was excellent. In addition to being very knowledgeable, he was also a lot of fun and made the day really enjoyable. I am so glad we booked the ‘small group tour’ as we were able to move in and out the tourist areas quickly. Much better than being on a big bus! Also the 2 other couples on the tour were a lot of fun. Would absolutely recommend Michael to anyone wanting to visit the DMZ.
Excellent trip and guide. Sky was very efficient, expediting the lines, explaining in advance what to expect and do, and oversll ensuring a great experience. We took the half day tour and it was great. No unnecessary touristic sites. A genuine DMZ oriented experience.
Michael was absolutely amazing, he was very informative about everything we went and saw/did today. He was very nice, and polite. I would definitely recommend him for anyone coming here and wanting to do a DMZ tour. He was just a wonderful guide overall. Absolutely no complaints.
Michael was our guide and he was wonderful. He was very informative and helpful with questions. He made things fun and interesting throughout the tour. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
I would suggest including the cost of the North Korean defector in the cost of the ticket.
Grace was well informed and punctual, lots of great information and history
Excellent DMZ tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging and did a great job explaining the history and significance of the area. We met early, which helped us stay ahead of the crowds. The tour was well organized, fascinating, and very worthwhile. Highly recommend!
Went on the DMZ tour with Stella. She was very knowledgeable and provided stories about the history of Korea. Having her expertise and the ability to ask questions throughout made this experience so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Great tour with the guide Bill. He was very well organised with good tips that made the experience even better. The communication with him was very easy and clear from the very beginning. He makes sure you have a picture in the most iconic spots and he sent us useful recommendations. We really liked that he transmitted his personal story and his hope for a future in peace.
Amazing experience with our guide Bill! We learnt a lot about Korea’s history.
Perfect size for small tour of 5. Avoid the big crowds and get more individual attentions
the tour was good , a bit short , fun tho , we saw north korea’s flag and view
We had an amazing tour with our lovely tour guide Bill Hwang! He was super sweet, gave us heaps of info and made the tour very memorable with his humour! He made sure to also add heaps of recommendations for Seoul food spots, K-dramas and K-pop and is an amazing photographer!
Bill Hwang was our guide for the tour where he gave us a sobering history lesson — knowledgeable, engaging, and somehow able to slip in Korean uncle jokes without breaking the mood. We left knowing significantly more about the DMZ and having laughed more than expected. Highly recommend, unless you're allergic to dad humour!
Our tour guide, Bill Hwang, was super friendly and attentive! He went out of his way and took the time to explain everything to us in detail. The tour was really interesting. If possible, definitely book Bill Hwang as your tour guide (he takes great photos, by the way😉)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best DMZ Guide — Ask for Bill Hwang! Bill was hands-down the highlight of our DMZ tour. Incredibly knowledgeable about the history, attentive to every member of the group, and armed with a collection of uncle jokes that kept everyone smiling even during the heavier parts of the visit. He strikes the perfect balance between being informative and engaging — never overwhelming you with facts, but making sure you leave with a real understanding of what the DMZ represents. If you want a guide who is professional, personable, and genuinely passionate about what he does, request Bill. 10/10 experience!
Bill Hwang is an awesome guide. Funny and very informative! He has a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, so the picture he took are amazing!
We had an amazing DMZ tour with Bill Hwang! He treated us like family throughout the entire trip and made everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Bill explained the history and details of the DMZ very clearly and passionately, which made the experience much more meaningful and interesting. He was also very friendly, fun, and kept the atmosphere enjoyable the whole time. We truly had a great time from start to finish. I strongly recommend Bill Hwang to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable DMZ tour experience. No regrets at all!
Great experience with this DMZ guided tour with Bill Hwang. He is very professional, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. He's taking very good care of us and he speaks fluent English.
Mr. Bill Huang is the best tour guide. Amazing experience!
Our visit to the DMZ in Korea was a really interesting and enjoyable experience. The tour was very well organized, and we learned a lot about the history and the current situation between North and South Korea. A special thanks to our guide Bill Hwang, who was excellent throughout the entire tour. He explained everything very clearly and made the experience both informative and engaging. He was also very considerate and gave us enough free time to explore and enjoy the places on our own, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Korea!
We had a tour with Bill Hwang, he is a passionate guide with personal knowledge about the dmz and its history. He is clear in his communication about the proceedings of the day and the information about the dmz. Bill is also a funny guy, he knows when to cut the tension. The dmz itself is also very interesting to visit and has a good organisation for a smooth visit.
This tour (8 hours) was very good organized and also fun too! Our guide Bill Hwang was very knowledgable, funny and provided us with personal insights into the DMZ and North Korea. We were in a small group, which was preferable over big groups and our guide constantly looked for the best experience (such as giving us information beforehand so we could have more time during the experience itself). 1000% recommend booking this tour!
This experience is perfect for the military history enthusiast or anyone looking to broaden their historical knowledge of a relevant and important war. Colonel LEE (Vincero) was a STELLAR guide! Perfect English with a customized itinerary. Easy and prompt hotel pickup and drop off. Vincero had not just Wikipedia depth knowledge, but a true student of the Korean War, its origins and its impacts. As active duty Marines, we both learned even more about the conflict and its operational and strategic relevance/impacts. It was amazing to see and walk the terrain at several different stops, which brought realism to the magnitude of the landings and battles. LEE was energetic and insightful and even took us to a great local lunch spot. The tour was so amazing that we booked Colonel LEE and the driver for a customized full tour of Seoul the next day where we continued our history lessons with Korean history prior, during and after the Japanese rule.
Very friendly, early departure
Everything good. A bit tight on time at every point
I had a fun time meeting the kind guide Sky. I rode the monorail without missing my foreign friends and their families. Thanks to the quick guide
Wonderful tour! Very informative, we learned a lot from Michael about the DMZ and the history behind it.
