Excellent experience! We learned not only how to prepare the delicious recipes, but also we learned about the traditions around the ingredients, how to vary the flavors to our personal taste all in small group experience. Highly recommend this experience.

Jia was our instructor, and it was immediately clear she has deep knowledge across many styles of cooking, not just Korean. My group of four had the session to ourselves, and we came in with a real range of cooking experience — Jia adjusted her teaching for each of us without missing a beat. I'm a fairly seasoned home cook myself, and I still walked away having learned a lot of new techniques and ideas, both about Korean food specifically and cooking in general. She was excellent at explaining the "why" behind each technique, not just demonstrating it, and the ingredients she gave us to work with were noticeably fresh and delicious. The overall vibe was warm and educational — my whole group had a great time both cooking and eating together afterward. One member of our group is a strict vegetarian, and Jia handled it seamlessly. Rather than just swapping in a bland substitute, she used fresh tofu and mushrooms in place of the pork and adjusted the sauce approach specifically for that version — then walked all of us through both methods side by side so we understood the differences. It was a thoughtful touch that made the whole group feel included, not just accommodated. Highly recommend this class, especially if you want an instructor who actually teaches rather than just walks you through steps.
We enjoyed our class so very much! It was exceptional, personal, perfect. The food was delicious and I learned so much about Korean cuisine. I would love return for another class.
We’ve started a tradition of taking a cooking class when we travel—and today’s in Seoul was one of the best yet. We had the pleasure of joining a class with Ongo Food Communication, led by owner and founder Jai Choi. The class was small and intimate—just seven of us (five from the U.S. and a newlywed couple from Australia). We each prepared two dishes: Japchae (sweet potato noodles with vegetables) and Jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy pork). And I don’t mind saying—this was some of the best food I’ve had since arriving in Korea. Highly recommend this experience—great food, great instruction, and a fun way to connect with the culture and fellow travelers.

I took a wonderful cooking class withJia today. She is a marvelous cook and we made 2 delicious dishes, Japheth noodles which I learned are made from sweet potatoes and a pork dish. all of the ingredients will be easy to find in San Diego.Preparation was easy and the dishes were ready n a very short time. This class would be good for.all levels of cooks. Jia is very charming helpful. This class was the highlight of my stay in Seoul. If you have an opportunity to take this class you will not regret it.
Very friendly chef with easy to follow instructions. Whilst my partner cooks daily, I do not so was given some extra help which was much appreciated. Food was delicious!! (if we do say so ourselves)
The instructor spoke very good English and knew a lot about how the ingredients are named and used in other cuisines, even obscure ones. The instructor also did an excellent job of breaking the ice, making it easy to chat with the other participants and learn about their backgrounds. I’m terrible at cooking but this recipe for bibimbap and bulgogi was simple and beginner-friendly, and still came out delicious!
We had a great time with this cooking class. The classroom is cozy ensuring a small group experience. The dishes we made were simple, fresh and delicious!
Great experience with amazing teacher! We get to know 2 dishes from Korean cuisine which we are going to utilise a lot at home. Class takes place is beautiful surrounding of Hanok village and you are definitely sunk in Korea while cooking.
Very informative with information on food culture in a relaxed way. Enjoyable experience with relaxed attitude. Perfect for what we wanted.
My daughter and I enjoyed an amazing cooking class with Jia! She is so warm, friendly and knowledgeable… The facility is charming and comfortable. The explanations of Korean cuisine and the demonstration are first rate. It was exciting to prepare the meal ourselves and it tasted so good. It is possible to control the spice level to your personal taste. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone looking to learn about Korean food and looking to interact with locals. We will never forget our day with Jia and her charming assistants.
The class was so interesting and well organised. Jia made the cooking really easy to follow and she was really nice to chat with as well. The food was super delicious and it didn't feel too difficult with little experience. It was also a great opportunity to get to ask questions about Korea cuisine and left feeling inspired to try it at home! Thank you so much for having us, it felt like spending time at a friend's house.
Great expérience of cooking two delicious Korean recipes . Jia and her assistant did their best to teach us how to prepare our dishes . I will recommend this class for all the people who are curious to share around a table . Thank you so much
Jia’s class was wonderful! My husband and and Iearned so much and such delicious ingredients and an amazing meal! Thank you Jia!
I did this cooking class with my family and it was amazing!! The instructor, Jia, was such a sweetheart and very informative. She was very thorough in her teaching and also gave funny backstories. It was a very intimate setting which I enjoyed. Also we got tea at the end which was very delicious! I highly recommend to take this cooking class! You won’t regret it! Thank you so much Jia!
My friend and I had an amazing and enjoyable cooking session at Ongo Foods Communication. Ms Jia was very engaging and clear in her explanations of the Bimbimbap and Bulgoggi recipes we registered to attend. She gave us a briefing of the necessary ingredients for these recipes followed by a demonstration of the preparation, cooking process and plating. Ms Jia also shared useful insights and tips about Korean cooking, ingredients and sauces. We were each assigned to a station with all the necessary ingredients and condiments prepared to begin cooking. Ms Jia would prompt and guide us throughout which was very reassuring and appreciated. Tasting our cooked Bimbimbap and Bulgoggi was the highlight and finale to the session. Highly recommend attending Ongo Foods cooking classes to learn Korean recipes. Would definitely attend Ms Jia's classes when we visit Seoul in the near future.
Glad I was able to be accommodating even though the only person booked for that class. All in all it was a great experience and conversation about Korean food and culture. I’ll definitely be using these recipes at home! Thank you so much
The cooking class was the highlight of our stay in Seoul. It is held in a lovely kitchen in a historic part of Seoul. Jia was a wonderful teacher and taught us to make two delicious Korean dishes that she demonstrated and then we cooked for ourselves. The dishes were simple enough that we can replicate them at home. We also learned a lot about life in Korea. It was a real cultural connection.
My husband and I had an amazing time during this cooking class. It was one of our favorite experiences while visiting Seoul and even was one of our favorite meals! The class is fun, friendly, and informative. Its a very clean environment and the recipes are fantastic. We would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone visiting Seoul!
So much fun and the food you make is so delicious!! Jia was a great instructor and was so informative about Korean cuisine.
Great class, instructor was super nice and informative, learned a lot about Korean food, cooking, and made some delicious recipes! It was great to eat your meal and chat with all the other participants afterwards!
An amazing Korean cooking class with chef's tips and regional taste explanations. Modern classroom with lights, clean tables, and comfortable stools. The recipe ingredients are fresh and what a joy to share a meal with everyone!
This was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed learning a little history of Korean food. The explanation on how to make the food was explained well and demonstrated step by step. Then we were allowed to do our own chopping and preparing with help to remind us what was next. The food was delicious as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend. I was wishing my teen daughter was with me because she would have loved it.
The cooking class is located near the historic Bukchon Hanok village in a nice studio. A large group that was supposed to come cancelled, so it was just the two of us - we were very lucky. The cooking class was very well guided, altogether it lasted approximately two hours. We made two classic Korean dishes, and got a lot of answers to our questions about Korean cuisine and culture. The hostess spoke excellent English and was very friendly throughout the class.
My husband and I booked the cooking class for our trip to Seoul. I would highly recommend this class. Jia, who is a professional chef, was very welcoming and very engaging. We were able to learn quite a bit about Korean cooking and we really enjoyed the two dishes and the drink she made us. Would be a great experience to do as a couple or as a group. The location is by Hanok village so you can plan your trip to visit the Hanok village and the palace.
The excellent teacher is very kind and helpful. She even holds a phd in food science and therefore is an expert in everything around food & cooking and related Asien cultural aspects. Great experience, absolutely unique. Highly recommended.
We had such a great time at this course! The setting was lovely and chef Jia was so friendly. We cooked japchae and jaeyuk-bokkem, which were both delicious and we will definitely be cooking them at home. So glad we booked this course
Jia was a great instructor and host! Very knowledgeable and personable. We used quality ingredients and the dishes came out delicious. The homemade drink was a nice touch as well.
Absolutely great experience! The course was well organized and the chef spoke excellent English and was a wonderful teacher. My Kimchi received compliments from my Korean relatives. Since returning to the States I have made the Kimchi and tonight I plan to make Bulgogi. Many friends have asked me to teach them how to make Kimchi because of its amazing health benefits. The market tour was also very worthwhile! I plan to take another course during my next visit.
This is a great cooking class that I would highly recommend. Jia made everything easy to follow, and it was great to share the meal at the end of the class.
So we went on a Saturday, and the local markets happened to be closed that particular day, but we didn't miss out on anything. My daughters and I were taught how to make bulgogi and kimchi. The lesson was peppered with a little history and even some personal anecdotes. Our chef was amazing and very friendly. After we finished cooking, we were then served our food and we had a wonderful lunch. The area of Seoul where the building is located is nice and quiet compared to downtown Seoul, or Gangnam where we stayed, so it was nice to see another side of Seoul. My daughters loved this experience.
The instructor was good in explaining the ingredients and steps. I really enjoyed the class and helped simplify how to cook the recipes. She is helpful and is willing to answer any questions you may have.
Learn from scratch how to make all the dishes you have been seeing on Dramas and in restaurants. Super well thought, the teacher speaks perfect English and in the end you will learn from the ingredients and cook. Then eat with other classmates what you have prepared.
A very good experience, let us know more about Korean cuisine, and let us cook Korean food at home. Thanks to the chef for his patience and careful explanation.
Jia is extremely amazing. She made all preparation steps and cooking sounds and looks so easy, when it is actually not. We thoroughly enjoyed the class. One of us, was even asking if there's any afternoon class available on the same day. Too bad, there's none..
A perfectly organized cooking class that gives you a great understanding of the Korean cuisine and people. We made bulgogi and our own kimchi to take home. Learnt about basic ingredients and how the Korean cuisine differs from others in the region. We had a lovely group of fellow cookers. The class ended with a fantastic lunch / sampling of what we had cooked.
My mom, dad, and I took a beginners class and learned how to cook stir fried chicken and japchae. Our teacher, Jia Choi, was wonderful. We learned about the dishes and ingredients as well as some of Korean culture and of course cooking techniques. At the end, all the students (5 in our class) sat down to eat the meal we each cooked for ourselves. If you are into Korean food or just curious, I recommend this class.
I really enjoyed Jia Choi class. She is an amazing chef and teacher. I got lost in Seoul when I was going to the cooking class and she waited for me. Even getting late she taught me the recipe from the beginning. The spicy chicken and korean salad, that I learned how to make it, were amazing. I really recommend this class at O’ngo Food Comunications.
I love the interactive! The instructor was playful and good at chit-chatting. She explained very clearly for the ingredients and the cooking steps.
I highly recommend this cooking class. Our teacher was both professional, accommodating and very kind and the food that we made was really delicious!
I booked this cooking class as part of my fiance and his parent's first tour itinerary for their first trip to Seoul. Our teacher, Jia was very knowledgeable and taught us how to make bibimbap and doenjang-jjigae. She shared history of Korean food and explained unique cooking methods used in Korea. When we arrived the ingredients were pre-prepped and Jia and her assistant helped us during various stages for a seamless experience. My fiance and his parents had a great time and enjoyed tasting what we cooked. Jia's assistant also took photos for us which was a nice way for us to remember this fun event. Highly recommend to anyone travelling to Seoul.
I was a little nervous, because I did the class on my own. But everything was awesome. The people were really nice and I had a great time. The food was just amazing and it is a great memory from my Seoul trip. I would love to come back for another class someday.
We visited this place for a korean cooking class as part of our team building activity. We chose to cook the Bibimbap & Doenjang-jjigae The entire experience was very efficient. All the food ingredients were sorted up and provided one by one in predetermined quantity by the staff and the trainer/chef was very helpful in explaining the ingredients and the mix. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the entire process was super efficient. It was like the IKEA of cooking where everything was provided in assorted in predetermined qty and all you had to do was put everything together. It may be a good thing but it just made the experience a bit one dimensional. Based on the team's feedback, it is nothing spl for those who cook daily at home. But for those who dont, its a good experience, albeit an expensive one.
Our group of 5 had a great time learning how to make kimchi and bulgogi. The class was fun and also super informative from a food perspective. As a Korean American I learned a ton about the history of certain foods as well as processes I had never known about! I also enjoyed the market tour nearby where we learned a lot about certain food items! Also got to enjoy what we cooked! Everyone spoke native English and took photos for us without asking! Recommend for even frequent visitors to Seoul!
I was attending the class alone as I traveled alone, was concerned about having difficulty following a class of making Korean Cuisine but my all my concerns were unfound; I thoroughly enjoyed the Class as the Chef Instructor Taeyeon is very attentive and patient with the class Instructions and demonstrations provided were precise and clear and no one was felt left behind in any way during the session. 2 Thumbs Up O'Ngo Food Communications. : )
Quite enjoyed this cooking class, the instructor is very good and flexible with tailoring dishes to tastes (she did manage to convince me to include seafood in my dish, which I don't normally do!). They shared yuja tea (amazing!) and sent photos of our cooking class via email afterwards, a very nice touch.
My sister and I had an absolute wonderful time at the Korean cooking class. The instructor,Taeyeon, had a great background on traditional Korean cuisine and did not only help guide us in making a delicious meal but also gave us a lot of interesting information about the history and origin of the food that we were cooking. A major plus is that they provided Halal chicken (for muslims) so you truly get to experience the full flavors of Korea. After all the food was made, we were served the food on a beautifully arranged table with complementary tea. It was one of the best experiences I had while I was in Seoul. I do plan on going back and taking more classes and I would highly recommend that you give it a try.
We had a wonderful time with Chef and all the folks at Ongo. From the market tour to the great set up of the teaching kitchen, to the detail description of how the traditional ingredients were made. Chef not only taught us 2 Korean dishes, she taught us how to cook with love.
A must to visit in Seoul as you are taught by experience Korean teachers on Korean cuisine. You will learn cooking skills like a local. Many different and interesting knowledge are passed on to students so please try it.
