Sadly the location is the only good thing about the hotel. Let's start with the outlets. It can't even hold my phone charger properly. I had to call the front to receive adapters to be able to charge my phone and laptop. The next issue is the AC is not controllable per room. The room was 79F/26C at midnight. They also only have one type comforter which makes it worse. The room was so hot I couldn't fall asleep. When I called the front at 2am, they told us they can't do anything about it because they turn off the central AC since its cold outside. Basically, they just brushed us off without any proper solution. I had to call them in the morning again to finally have them lower our room temperature "properly". I also asked the front/concierge to call a cab for me. They told me the cab will be at the front entrance in 6 minutes. I waited about 10 minutes and nothing came. When I called the front office with the phone number provided on the website no one answered. I had to go back up to the Lobby to ask where my cab is. Guess what, the front didn't even noticed that the cab driver canceled their request and did not even bother to come tell us about the canceled cab. How do you expect us to reach you if the front doesn't even bother to answer the phone? Shouldn't the front come update us since they told us to be at the front of the hotel and wait? Why do I have to chase after these people to even get proper service? I can never recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel was not cheap we paid over 800 dollars for 3 nights and this is what we got. Don't waste your money here. You can probably find a much better hotel for that price. If I could, I want to change my hotel right now because all this happened basically on the first day of my trip.

I don't often leave bad reviews but this time it absolutely felt necessary, given the exorbitant price of the hotel for the service (lack thereof) they provide. The rooms end up extremely hot as there are no individual AC units and they told me they refuse to turn it on during the night time to save energy. Could not sleep at all due to the heat. Next, the outlets in the room are extremely fragile. They couldn't even hold my phone charger in place, let alone my Mac charger. We asked for assistance and got a small extension that ultimately did nothing as the extension just fell right out with my chargers anyway. Additionally, we asked the lobby to call a taxi for us, as they have informed us that they do, and we waited and the taxi never came. When we tried to call the lobby to ask for what happened, they wouldn't pick up, and when we went back up to the lobby to inquire about it and they said the driver cancelled, without a way of notifying us and not even picking up our call. Overall, the hotel and the staff are incompetent and this establishment is absolutely not worth the price. Look somewhere else if you're looking to stay near Seoul.
I was pretty happy with our room. The hotel works efficiently, easy to access, very excellent location! Easy access to all the train lines and multiple shopping districts, and sooo much local food options.
Nice hotel in a good location - very close to every tourist attraction. The rooms are quite spacious and clean. Start showing signs of wear and tear but overall they are good. There’s a nice gym in the hotel as well. Overall we liked the hotel and would stay here again.
Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun delivers a somewhat mixed experience, leaning more toward functional than enjoyable. The room is relatively spacious, which is a positive, but the layout is not particularly well thought out. The work desk is placed right next to the bed, making it impractical to use comfortably, especially for longer periods. The bathroom setup is another drawback. The shower is mounted on a bar but doesn’t stay in place, constantly slipping during use, which makes for a frustrating experience. Towels also seem past their prime —consistently worn and slightly frayed — and on one occasion, even the bath mat appeared torn, which doesn’t reflect well on overall maintenance standards. Breakfast is “okay”. Despite being presented as a highlight, it lacks both variety and standout quality—there’s nothing particularly memorable in terms of selection or taste. On the positive side, the location is excellent, especially for a business trip, with convenient access to key areas in the city. Overall, it’s a viable option if you need a practical place to stay while traveling for business, but it falls short as a more comfortable or enjoyable choice. In short, it’s a place you stay at for convenience, not for pleasure.
