Tour Of Barumini Nuraghe - A Must-see In Sardinia!

The archeological site is intriguing. A must see for anyone who wants to delve into the foundation of contemporary Sardinian culture.

We had the most wonderful private tour with Claudia and Alberto. Claudia put together a special itinerary for us based on a couple of things I had requested: to visit Barumini Nuraghe and the organic biodiversity winery Olianas. It was perfect and both Claudia and our driver Alberto were such wonderful company and we learnt so much. Please please please get Claudia to take you to Olianas winery rather than the more commercial ones. It’s stunning, with a wonderful philosophy taking care of the land and the best wine. Their kitchen even cooked us an amazing meal from their organic kitchen garden to go with our wine tasting. Claudia’s tour was the highlight of our holiday.

This was a private tour so there was just us, our guide Claudia and the driver Barbara. Claudia was excellent in giving the key information on the Nuraghic culture and what we would be experiencing during the day. The tour of the Barumini Nuraghe was carried out by the on-site guide and this was also excellent. The English spoken by both guides was very good. From the Barumini Nuraghe we went on to the Casa Zapata museum which covers finds from the Nuraghe as well as some of the history of the Zapata household. The house was built on another Nuraghe that has been excavated and is visited as part of the museum. Very good half day trip especially when taken after a visit to the Archaeology Museum in Cagliari (we did this the day before).

Hard to believe it's still possible to see a place inhabited in prehistoric times. Well worth a visit. Claudia, tour guide, and Barbara, driver, are both terrific!

Great nuraghe vi can also be located inside with the site guide. Interesting experience. Uninteresting and 2 other museums included with the entrance ticket,,,, besides being too hot!
