We can’t recommend Claudia (the guide) and Barbara ( her driver) highly enough. It was just the 2 of us so we had a private tour, in effect. Claudia was very engaging, spoke English well and was extremely knowledgeable with detailed facts. The site itself is amazing, easily walkable and covered, not too big but still with plenty of interesting ruins and facts. Barbara was such a careful, cautious driver ( unlike the majority we’ve encountered on our trip so far) and very sweet. Highly recommend this tour for the richness of its past within a relatively small area.

I went on an amazing tour of the ancient city of Nora with Claudia Pirina (Genna Tours) on May 5th. Claudia picked me up in Cagliari promptly at 3 pm, and I was immediately wowed by her friendly demeanor and love of Sardinia! We were treated to some sightings of pink flamingos on our way to Nora. Once we arrived, we met up with a couple who had done a day trip with Claudia the day before. Claudia gave us lively descriptions of how Nora was first founded by the Nuragic people, followed by the Phoenicians, then Punic people, and finally the Romans. She really brought the ancient structures and floor mosaics back to life for us! I couldn't believe I was walking on an ancient Roman road at times. The area is also exceedingly beautiful with it being located right by the ocean! We spent several hours exploring Nora with Claudia, for which she patiently answered all of our questions. She clearly loves being a tour guide, is an exceptional storyteller, and has a great sense of humor. For my first full day in Sardinia, it was a wonderful introduction to the culture and history of this island. By the time Claudia drove me back to Cagliari, I felt like I was traveling with a friend. She followed up afterwards with a WhatsApp message to recommend unique Sardinian dishes and desserts I should try while traveling with my sea kayaking group. All tasty suggestions as I discovered later! I highly recommend going on a tour of Nora with Genna Tours, especially if you have Claudia Pirina as your guide!
Nice trip! Guide was very nice and very informative. Transportation to the site in a comfortable van and on site more information than you can remember. You can visit the site by yourself but with the explaination of the guide the place really comes to life. Would definitely recommend taking this trip.
A very interesting and informative 4-hour guided tour of the ruins of the ancient Roman town of Nora. Our guide (Claudia of Genna Tours) was excellent: very personable and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in archeology and the history of a Roman settlement that was founded in Sardinia at the height of the Roman Empire.
Nora, an entire Roman city, is an extensive archaeological site, but it is almost entirely ruins. It takes a talented and enthusiastic tour guide to make it come to life, even if in one's imagination. Claudia was definitely up to the task!
Claudia is a wonderful, friendly guide who has an immense knowledge of the many layers of history in Nora. Claudia also gave us tips on where and what to eat during our holiday in Sardegna. We highly recommend this tour.
My wife and I have a particular affinity for ancient culture and history of areas we visit. The archeological site of Nora was an excellent example of this - and more than we expected, thanks to our absolutely stellar guide Claudia from Genna Tours. She genuinely cares for her Sardinian ancestors’ Nuraghic culture and everything that followed - like the overlapping influences of Phoenician, Punic and Roman that make up Nora. She gave us a great perspective on the settlement — walking us through the different “neighborhoods” of Nora, explaining the flow of the districts, orienting us and helping us imagine life at that time. Plus the engineering mastery of the Roman roads and thermal baths, the economic and societal shifting over 400 years, the eventual shifting away to nearby Cagliari. Super interesting — and very well structured and presented by Claudia. Her enthusiasm and pride made it even better. The location is beautiful, even in light rain. Look around in all directions and one can understand why a major town was settled there. The mosaics are modest but intriguing, especially knowing Sardinia did not care much for such ornamental aspects. The theatre is small by Roman standards - but feels appropriate within the scale of the settlement. Intimate, even - like you could picture the town centering around that space of plays and gladiator fights. And I wouldn’t have known half of this without Claudia connecting it all together for us. Definitely recommend. Ton of history here. Easy to get to from Cagliari. Not a lot of physical effort required. And there’s even amenities onsite if needed.
absolutley fascinating such a treasure trove and so much yet to be explored. the mosiacs are beautiful
Our guide Claudia gave us an excellent sense of the layers of civilisation at Nora. She speaks perfect English and has a great personality and sense of humour. She answered every question raised clearly. The site is extensive but there was no sense of rush and we got to take in every part. We left with a great appreciation of the importance of Nora. As an added bonus, Claudia gave us some food and restaurant recommendations on the journey back to Cagliari. Super trip, super guide.
Claudia and Barbara were such great tour guides. They were super communicative and it was easy to meet them at the designated spot. Claudia had a ton of knowledge about the history of Nora and Sardinia in general. They both gave us great recs for the rest of our trip here. I would highly recommend this tour!
Our guide was knowledgeable, fun and had a great sense of humor. Nora has a great story to tell and our guide made it come to life. Highly recommended!
A fantastic tour! Claudia was so fun and knowledgeable! She was an absolute delight! So happy we took this tour and had her as our guide!🦩💕
Claudia and Barbara of Genna Tours are exceptional! They love Sardinia and have deep and varied knowledge of the history of this very special place in the world. They do what they say and say what they do. I highly recommend visiting Nora and exploring Sardinia with Genna Tours.
The excursion to Nora was a nice getaway. I was so impressed with the scope of the excavation. The guide was extremely informative and knowledgeable. I recommend a visit.
I had the absolute pleasure of embarking on a private tour of Nora in Sardinia, and I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. At first, I must confess, I wasn't really looking forward to the tour as much as my mom was. However, the charm of Nora and the proficiency of our guide, Claudia, completely transformed this tour into a highlight of our trip. Nora, with its stunning water views and immense historical depth, took my breath away. The ruins, the amphitheater, the mosaics, and the overall ambience of the place were captivating. Yet, what made this tour truly unforgettable was the ever-knowledgeable and friendly Claudia. Claudia was the embodiment of an ideal tour guide. Her knowledge about the site was extensive and her passion for the history of Nora was contagious. Every story, every detail she unveiled about the ruins, added a layer of intrigue to our exploration. Her friendly and engaging manner made the information she shared not just interesting, but truly captivating. It felt less like a conventional tour and more like a journey back in time narrated by a friend who knew all the secrets of the past. The tour was so much more than I had anticipated. It was educational, it was fun, it was visually stunning and, most importantly, it was inspiring. Thanks to Claudia, an excursion that I was not initially thrilled about turned out to be an experience I will cherish for a long time. If you ever find yourself in Sardinia, do yourself a favor and book this tour. Whether you are a history buff, a nature enthusiast, or someone just looking for a unique experience, Claudia's tour of Nora is sure to impress. She is a gem of a guide, and the tour is a testament to her dedication and love for Sardinian history and culture. Thank you, Claudia, for this incredible tour!
It’s pricy for a single traveler, but Claudia is very knowledgeable, patient, and warm. Definitely an excellent tour guide.
This was an excellent tour of the most important Roman city in Sardinia BCE. Claudia and Barbara were lovely guides. Highly recommend!
A small group tour with a very good tour guide who was very knowlegeable on the overall historic setting and specific findings in Nora.
Claudia was a great guide, very knowledgable and friendly. The context she gave made the whole experience come alive. Nora is a beautiful and calm location surrounded by water and the ruins covered a much larger area than we expected. All in all, an excellent experience and highly recommend.
We came here in the morning which was wise as it soon got very busy. Nice views and learning about the history that took place there.
Claudia and Barbara were knowledgeable and gracious guides. We very much enjoyed both tours we took with them. The Nora tour ended up having two bonuses! The saint of Cagliari was paying his annual visit to Nora while we were there AND the seagulls had just hatched out their chicks on the archaeological site!! Very highly recommend any tours offered with this company. Their restaurant suggestions are excellent, as well!
Amazing tour! Thank you Claudia for the strong passion and the positive energy you shared all the amazing and interesting information regarding Nora! Really enjoyed the sights, the company, everything was super!
Excellent experience! We had a very passionate and proffesional guide (thank you, Claudia!😊we loved your energy and passion with which you shared all these cool and interesting information🥰) and we enjoyed the trip to the max!
We could not have had a more beautiful day with Claudia and Barbara. Truly delightful ladies. Claudia is a walking, talking enciclopedia who brought life to this amazing tour.
Excursion was very well organised, both guide and driver were very helpful and kind and patient with us, as we wanted to take many photos! Guide gave us a lot of useful information in good English. Place was so peaceful and beautiful! Ruins are amazing! Managed to see flamingoes from far too! Pity we didn’t manage to see church inside, as it was closed. I highly recommend this excursion!
Claudia was very accommodating and well informed about the places we visited. I highly recommend this excursion and if I had the time would have taken another excursion with her.
They are impressive ruins, from the environment to the content, very extensive and interesting. Thanks to our guide Claudia who put in a lot of effort, we really enjoyed it.
Great tour, guide with great knowledge of the area that knew how to make a 3 hour visit very enjoyable. Recommended!
