We had a great time on this trip. The tour was very well organized, Dirk was a very good and fun guide. We learned a lot about life in Sardinia and about the history of the Nuraghi. The Su Nuraxi site was incredibly impressive. Much larger and more complex than I had expected. It's an absolute must-see in Sardinia.
Timely, efficient, and very knowledgeable guide. Good mix of history and culture. Friendly conversation made for pleasant travel.
I arranged a tour to the Nuraghe Su Nuraxi of Barumini (circa 1,500 BC), a World Heritage Site, for 8 people from our cruise ship with Dirk Kastner of Secrets of Sardinia. It was a pleasure dealing with him. He always answered my emails promptly and made numerous helpful suggestions throughout the process. Dirk kept in touch on the morning of the tour and arrived promptly at the port. We headed directly to the Nuraghe Su Nuraxi. During the approximate 1-hour drive, Dirk explained the history of Sardinia dating back many centuries. Once at the nuraghe, Dirk led us on a guided tour through many of the structures there. He explained how the people lived and worked there thousands of years ago. It was fascinating. On the way back, we stopped in the village of Villamar, where Dirk showed us many traditional wall paintings and sculptures. Upon returning to Cagliari, we wanted to tour the historic, steep Castello district on our own before returning to the ship. So, he dropped us at Porta Cristina, an upper entry to the Castello district, so we could tour it walking downhill as we made our way back to the ship. Dirk was an excellent guide, and I highly recommend him for tours in Cagliari and Sardinia.
It was interesting to see a large area of pre roman stone buildings. There is a bit of walking and narrow stairs in parts.
The Nuraghe Su Nuraxi fortress complex is an amazing site in that the central keep is double-walled giving ample room for hidden movement, storing grain, and protecting access to water via an underground stream. As part of a network of fortifications, visible from the tower, one stands in awe of what these people accomplished!
Very good guide. Nice and very knowledgeable! Good with a group of 5 good people.
Great guide, explained a lot and led well
An extraordinary archaeological site that allows you to better understand the evolved society of the ancient inhabitants of Sardinia. The guided tour allows you to deepen the history of the Nuragic civilization, thanks to the assistance of guides, patient as well as competent.
The tour allows you to discover the archaeological site which is not served by public transport. The guide, Dirk, answered questions accurately and was knowledgeable on the subject. We saw another nuraghe on the way
