We have been visiting Vila las Tronas for more than 10 years and always love coming back. We truly appreciate the long-standing staff, who always make us feel so welcome. We were delighted by the recent improvements — the new pier with sunbeds is a wonderful addition, and we were thrilled to see the return of the breakfast buffet. The hotel consistently maintains its high standards and excellent quality of service. We look forward to our next stay!
I had to get a room here at last minute and the service from when I arrived late at night to when I left was kind, caring and warm. Special mention to Rebah who ensured I had everything I needed in the ristorante and had a laugh with me as I dined alone to all of the team there. Beautiful location and great facilities - truly hope I can return one day
This place is a jewel. It has exceeded our expectations. We own a luxury hotel and stay regularly in top hotels. The position on the sea is fabulous. The sea is spectacular. The hotel itself is perfect and the spa is divine. Excellent friendly service across the board. Indoor and outdoor pools. A large property but purposefully just a few guests - gives a very special feel, it’s as if you and your friends have a private villa on the sea. Amazing history of the Italian royal family and the Romanovs as guests. Very special.
Well what can I say but Amazing. This place use to be a royal retreat for Italian royalty. The private residence was converted into an exclusive hotel in 1961, retaining its aristocratic atmosphere, original architecture, and luxurious furnishings. It operates as a 5-star hotel and spa, featuring 25 individually designed rooms with antique furniture, an indoor sea-water pool, a heated outdoor pool, and a gourmet restaurant. There is even a heliaport so you can arrive from the airport without a car. The stay there treat you like royalty. When you go out and explore the city of Alghero and come back for the evening, they stay had prepared our room for us to retire in bed. The bed was turned down and carpet was placed on both sides of the bed so our feet were clean before getting into bed. The view from the bed was breathtaking. We had two windows to look out of, one view was of the city and the other was the Mediterranean Sea. This us a must stay place while visiting Alghero.
We booked Villa Las Tronas last minute during our stay in Alghero, and overall had a really memorable experience. First off, Alghero itself is stunning. We were lucky with the weather, which was phenomenal, and the old town is just beautiful, full of great restaurants, bars, and places to wander. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be back. The hotel is clearly something very special. It feels historic, decadent, and unique, set in an incredible location right on the sea. The building itself is beautiful, and the staff were excellent throughout our stay. The pool area was lovely for a relaxing day, and the spa is genuinely fantastic, a really standout feature of the hotel. That said, there are a few areas where we felt improvements could make a big difference, especially for a five-star experience. The main issue for us was sleep quality. The rooms didn’t have air conditioning in April, only heating, which made them quite warm and stuffy at night. Opening the windows helped, but early in the morning the noise from birds made it difficult to stay asleep. On top of that, the curtains aren’t blackout at all, so the room becomes very bright early on. Altogether, it was hard to get a proper, uninterrupted night’s sleep. The bathroom setup also felt a bit dated. The shower was attached to the bath taps with a hose rather than being a proper standalone or over-bath shower, which felt slightly awkward and out of place given the overall standard of the hotel. This feels like something that could be relatively easily updated. Finally, while everything looked beautiful, we unfortunately found the beds quite uncomfortable. Both of us struggled a bit with our backs, which again impacted the overall restfulness of the stay. Overall, Villa Las Tronas is a stunning, historic hotel with incredible character, a beautiful spa, and a great team. With a few updates to modernise certain elements, it could easily move from very good to truly exceptional.
