We had such a wonderful experience with our guide in Sapa : Bau ☀️! She was extremely responsive, spoke excellent English, and was genuinely passionate about sharing her culture and helping us discover the beauty of Sapa. We booked a private tour, and she took us along incredible trails, far from the usual tourist crowds, with breathtaking views and a much more authentic experience. She was also very flexible, adapting to our location in the morning and even dropping us off directly at our hotel at the end of the tour. But above all, she is an incredibly kind, warm, and caring person, which made the whole experience even more special. Our only regret is not booking two full days with her! We recommend 🫶 . Thank you so much for this unforgettable experience! ❤️

A huge thank you to our amazing guide Thao for two incredible days of trekking through the rice fields. ❤️ It was such a sporty, authentic and truly special experience. Thao shared her culture, her daily life and her beautiful region with us, and even welcomed us into her home. This made the experience feel so genuine and personal. We are leaving with unforgettable memories, beautiful landscapes in our minds, and above all, so much gratitude for Thao’s kindness, warmth and authenticity. Thank you so much, Thao, for making these two days so special. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide! 🙏🌾
I can honestly say this was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. Our trekking tour with Bau (Bao) through Lao Chai and Ta Van was simply outstanding. Bao picked us up directly from our hotel, which made everything effortless from the very beginning. What truly impressed us was how she adapted the entire experience to our pace and preferences. There was no rush, no pressure—just a perfectly tailored journey that felt personal and authentic. Her English is excellent, and throughout the trek we had wonderful conversations. She shared so much valuable insight about the local tribes, their traditions, as well as life in Sapa and Vietnam in general. It didn’t feel like a standard tour—it felt like discovering the region with a knowledgeable friend. The included meal was absolutely delicious and a highlight on its own. Having a guide like Bao makes a world of difference. There is simply no comparison between doing this trek on your own and experiencing it with her. She adds depth, meaning, and warmth to every step of the journey. What we experienced goes far beyond what words can fully capture here. I recommend this tour 100%—it truly deserves it.
Bau's Sapa Homestay was awesome. We met Bau in Sapa Square during the morning around 8:50 am. We then spent the day hiking from town to her family's home. Throughout the day she gave us all the information we wanted, and went into detail about any additional questions we had. She covered her culture, family traditions, Hmong traditions, and local animals and plants. We stopped for a large lunch both days. The views were spectacular with scenic photos of the region. Her family was overly accommodating. We spent the evening and morning with them. We helped with some of the meal preparations and the food was amazing. No part of the trip was overly rushed. We would absolutely recommend this experience to any of our friends. A few considerations if you are thinking of this trip: -First day was about 9.5 miles with 2200 ft of elevation gain -Second day was about 6 miles with about 1100 ft of elevation gain. -Highest elevation was ~6300 ft and lowest was 3300 ft. We did this during late March. Temperatures were 70*-80*F and humid. Both days were sunny with a nice breeze on the first day. We are both athletic and recreate back home at similar elevations. There were parts of the hike that required large, technical steps up/down and balancing along rice patty edges. This was not necessarily easy hiking, however Bau will adjust the pace as needed, and get you a bamboo walking stick if you need something to balance with. If you think this might be on the edge of your difficulty range, consider trekking poles, pack plenty of water, dress for the conditions.
This tour didn’t feel like a typical tourist experience; it felt like spending the day with a friend who wants you to love their home as much as they do. We explore the mountains, tried delicious food I would have never found on my own and learn so much about their daily life. Her family was lovely and welcomed us in their home from the first moment. If you’re visiting Vietnam and want a truly meaningful and memorable experience, this tour is an absolute must!
The best in the world! Nice, patient and explains everything perfectly! Always with a smile! Excellent English! She came to our hotel to pick us up with extra boots that saved us!
We had a great trip with Bau. She picked us up and brought extra boots in the case that we needed them. After that we got out to walk. Had a good lunch, followed by the more adventurous path. We finished the first day in her home, where we met her daughters and husband. While we were enjoying the amazing view from the balcony we had some snacks. Then time for dinner we learned how to roll spring rolls and had dinner (and happy water) with her family. After a good nights rest we had pancakes for breakfast and got on for the next day. We had an amazing time with Bau, who took the time to show and explain us what we crossed during our trek.
Our guide Bau made the village trek one of the highlights of our trip. She was kind, informative, and genuinely passionate about her community. We enjoyed stunning views and meaningful cultural insights. Would highly recommend Bau to anyone visiting Sapa.
awesome authentic experience loved every moment of it! Highly recommend doing this tour it made us fall in love with Sapa :)
My family and I had a truly wonderful experience with Bau as our welcoming guide and host. Bau made us feel like part of her family during our days in her village. I felt safe and accommodated throughout the entire trek. The hiking was beautiful and interesting with opportunities to see all parts of life in the villages around Sa Pa. The homestay was lovely and the meals were outstanding with so much food to enjoy including a delicious hot pot experience. I learned so much and left feeling such warmth and happiness about my spectacular experience with Bau.
My family of four had an amazing experience trekking with Bau and staying at her home. The trekking was beautiful and we had the opportunity to see so many unique sights including local homes, a school and many animals. Bau was kind and very informative about the local culture. It was a very authentic experience living for two days with her extended family including her lively two and a half year old daughter. The food was delicious and she was able to accommodate my vegetarian diet. I would highly recommend Bau as a guide and host.
We had the most incredible time with Bau. Bau and her family are so kind and knowledgeable about the area. They took us on some epic treks and welcomed us into their cozy house. We enjoyed great meals with her family and really feel like we got to know her village and the culture of the area. She was very attentive and flexible to adjust the trip based on our needs. I would highly recommend trekking with Bau!
A highlight so far during my trip! Great “off the beaten track” walks through local places. Knowledgeable and super nice guide. The food, accommodation and facilities could not have been better!
I can highly recommend booking this tour with Bau! It has been one of the highlights on my trip thru Asia and an experience I will remember and value highly for the rest of my life! I learned a lot about their culture, village and the local life from all the stories she told. Bau and her family were so welcoming and always made sure that I felt good and at ease, such beautiful soles! You really come out with a new and better perspective of life after this tour! Bau was really good at english so it was always easy to have conversations together! She was very professional but personal at the same time which i really appreciated. Their accommodation was very nice, newly built and very clean.
The experience was spectacular, from the kindness of Bau and her family, we were so well received that I could only give 5 stars. There's no way not to want to live this unforgettable experience. In terms of trekking, it was a high level of support.
It is a marvelous experience. All talks with Bau, the landscapes, the walks, all nature surrounding Sa Pa, the meals, everything was great! We stayed at her house in a village where the looks are amazing, dinner shared as if we were part of her family, so it made the stay cozy and warm for my brother and I. Highly recommended to do at least 1 day with Bau if you are in Sapa (we did 2 days 1 night and had an amazing journey). If you’re in for a nature adventure/exploration while getting to know a kind person like Bau would totally recommend!
5 stars are not enough for this beautiful experience. Didn't really feel like I was in a tour, it felt more like visiting an old and loved friend. Meeting Bau was one of the best experiences in my travel through Vietnam, she's kind, smart, loves to talk and knows perfectly how to share all her knowledge. I don't want to spoil so you just go and do your booking!
My 2-day trekking tour in Sapa and the surrounding area with Bau as my guide was simply fantastic! From the very first moment, Bau impressed me with her warm personality and deep knowledge of the region. She led me through breathtaking landscapes, past rice fields, through bamboo forests, picturesque villages, and hidden trails I would never have discovered on my own. Although the emerald-green rice fields had already been harvested in November, the area is still breathtakingly beautiful. The overnight stay at her lovingly designed homestay was an absolute highlight. The accommodation was cozy, clean, and full of charm – you feel welcome the moment you arrive. The food was incredibly delicious! From a hearty dinner to a filling breakfast, everything was fresh, homemade, and prepared with love. Bau not only chose the most beautiful routes but also shared a wealth of insights about the culture and daily lives of the local people. Additionally, Bau speaks excellent English, which made communication with her very easy and enjoyable. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the authentic beauty of Sapa. Thank you, Bau, for this unforgettable experience!
Trekking with Bau in Sapa really was the highlight of our 2 month trip through Asia, I cannot recommend it enough! She arranged the logistics very smoothly, with her husband picking up our luggage in Sapa town so we could start the tour straight away. The walk itself was amazing, as Bau took us through small roads and jungle trails where we were barely saw any other tour groups, and the views were breathtaking. She was very considerate and adjusted the pace and break times according to our ability. In the evenings we were welcomed into their family home where we cooked and ate with the family, I felt so comfortable and well taken care of! It was really rewarding to experience living in her ethnic village and it felt very authentic. Bau is really knowledgable about the tribes’ way of life and happily shared stories, I learnt lots about life in rural Sapa. She is such a hard hard working individual building her own business, I admire her and really hope more people find her and her tours. Overall a truly fantastic experience for anyone looking to hike in Sapa, I hope to come back and visit again someday!
Bau is an amazing Sapa guide. Her knowledge is top notch. Bau could not do enough for the 2 days we spent with her. 1 day trekking and one doing waterfalls and town tour. You definitely need to book bau if travelling in Sapa. Very honest, passionate, hard working person, we just loved our time in Sapa and with bau!
Bau wasn't able to tour me so her sister Mu stepped in. As pictured below, Mu took tons of photos of me and for me, which was great, so I got to enjoy the nature without focusing on taking photos. I arrived at 3am, and Bau helped me get my luggage to a nearby hotel from the bus station, and had me set up with breakfast there as well, so I wouldn't be stuck on the street just because I didn't want to pay for a few hours in a hotel before the trek. Her sister arrived early to accommodate my early bus. She was very nice even though I was irritable the second half of the tour due to having no sleep and not properly fueling myself. When we arrived at their home, they all welcomed me with open arms. It really is a real homestay, it's not like those fancy pantsy cabins that is clearly not a home: this feels like a HOME, and I felt like a family member. They let me sleep, got me snacks, water, and made sure I had a shower. We all ate dinner together, and had some wonderful conversations, each learning about each other's cultures and for me, humility and empathy were both increasingly gained in this experience. The morning pancakes were INSANE, I've never had pancakes like that before. The way they live is distinctly different than other places I've stayed in Vietnam, or even SaPa town! I didn't do the second day of trekking due to rain, and I was just too scared of falling to attempt it. Even so, they helped me get my enormous suitcases back into town to catch my bus. Then again, set up my luggage storage with the hostel until my bus arrived (which they booked for me). The hostel guy had been informed by Bau to walk me to the bus and put me on the bus. The only negative I can think to say is the roaches outside, but that's just how it is in villages, it's unavoidable if you want an authentic experience. Just such a loving and wonderful experience with a wonderful family.
We had the most incredible time on our 2 day trek with Bau, we really cannot recommend it enough!! The views along the trek were breathtaking and Bau knew the area so well and was able to give us information throughout the hike that really allowed us to imagine what it was like to grow up in the villages. She taught us all about how the village grows and makes hemp fabric and dyes it using indigo leaves to make their traditional clothing and giving the tribe its name Black H’mong as a result of the black clothing they wear. We also learned about how the villages use the farm land to provide for their family and about their cultural traditions. Not only was the hike itself amazing but we stayed in Bau’s home with her wonderful family. She cooked us dinner on her wood fire and even let us help prepare the spring rolls - we ate with her family and drank some happy water and it was truly the most wholesome, authentic and raw experience of our entire 4 month trip around Asia. She welcomes us into her home with open arms and looked after us so well throughout the two days. We really felt as though we got to see how the people in the H’mong village live first hand and we are so honoured she gave us such a personal and authentic experience. Thank you Bau for this unforgettable experience🥰🥰🥰
My friend and I had the most amazing time with Bau’s sister, Do. One of the best experiences we had in Vietnam probably- I cannot recommend highly enough! Anyone visiting Vietnam should definitely get in touch with Bau and visit Sapa🫶🏼
Had an amazing time doing the 3 day 2 night tour with Bau. she showed us the beautiful countryside of Sapa and taught us so much about Vietnamese culture. The tour was one of our favourite things we have done in Vietnam!! Couldn’t recommend it enough!
Bau is such a lovely tour guide, her English is also brilliant! She took us on a 2D 1N trek in the mountains and we spent the night at her family home. The walk was a great level of difficulty with lots of breaks and beautiful scenery. She was very informative and happy to answer any questions we had. Her family were so welcoming and cooked delicious meals for us. We cannot recommend her enough!!
One of the better guided treks my boyfriend and I have been on. We did the 2D1N trek with Bau and she was incredible. She welcomed us to her home, guided us through beautiful rice fields and bamboo forests, and shared with us all about her culture and the plants in the area. Highly recommend her services to anyone who wants an intimate trekking experience!
After we got this tour recommended to us we booked it and we do not regret it. It was fantastic! Beautiful views, good amount of hiking and stops and good food! Bau was a fantastic tour guide!!! I work as a guide myself and she truly did a fantastic job. She was clear, knew a lot about the area, had great stories and her English was really really good. We did the 2d 1n tour and after a day of hiking we got to stay with Bau and her family, they cooked us dinner and we all ate it together and had a bit of happy water. We really enjoyed it and this is the tour to book when you’re going to Sapa!!
My son and I went trekking with Bau through the stunning landscapes of Sapa. We had an amazing time with an amazing guide. We stayed one night in a homestay together with fellow travelers and the other night with Bau and her family where we were served delicious homecooked meals and were treated like a part of the family. Bau knew perfectly good english and could answer all our questions that came up during the trekk. A truly welcoming guide and an uforgettable experience! Would recommend anybody, despite travelling group, to make this trip!
Bau has a fantastic personality and is very helpful and flexible. She quickly becomes your friend and explains everything about her culture and family. To spend time is her house was a real delight and she is an excellent chef cooking over open fire in the house. We learned how to make spring rolls. She explained the whole process of making the special black h’mong clothes from harvesting the marijuana plants till final touch with the broidery. It was nice to meet her family and children. As for the trekk it was outstanding. Marvelous views and terraced rice fields. In our case we had her privately which is a huge difference from going in a flock with other tourists arranged by the hotels. And much cheaper.
My friend and I (25y/o) had the best experience trekking in Sapa with Bau as our guide. We did not have the weather on our side but Bau's positive spirit and enthusiasm made it a great trip anyways. Bau speaks perfect english and answered all our questions about Sapa and life there! We felt very welcome at the home stay and the food was great. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to Sapa :D
Our 5-day trekking tour with Bau was a unique experience that we as a family will never forget. If I could, I would give it 10 stars! Bau did not just accompany us as a tour guide, but it felt like we were traveling with a good friend. Her warm manner and the family atmosphere made the tour something very special. The entire trip was perfectly planned, from the varied routes, the good food, and the transportation, down to the small details that make the difference. It was tailored to our wishes. Also, the overnight stays in the middle of the rice fields with Bau's family were a great experience that brought us closer not only to the beauty of the landscape but also to the warmth and hospitality of the people. We have collected great memories that will stay with us for a long time. In short: A tour full of warmth, adventure, and unforgettable moments – absolutely recommended!
We went hiking with Bau for 2 days with our family. She is a fantastic guide who speaks very good English and knows a lot about the area
Bau is very professional and attentive with her customers. It adapts to everyone. We walked mainly off the beaten track and always with explanations. An evening with his family with whom we shared a delicious meal. An unforgettable experience.
Wonderful experience with an excellent guide!! She brought us very close to Vietnam and the area with her expertise and pleasant, open nature. We could learn a lot about regional customs and ethnic minorities. Your English is very good! Staying with her family and cooking with each other has provided a lot of insight into family life. Highly recommended!!
THE EXPERIENCE IS AMAZING AND HAS A LOT TO DO WITH BAU!! It was an amazing and super immersive experience. Bau is a girl with a permanent smile, patient, sweet... she taught us and explained everything in terms of her culture and her tribute. Their house is spectacular, super well equipped and with a view!! It's been amazing!! Thanks Bau!!!!
Our guided trekking tour with Bau was clearly a highlight of our trip through Vietnam. We were a bunch of four friends who had been recommended to go on a guided tour with Bau. We chose the option of two days trekking tour and one night at Bau's house. She spoke very good English and gave us a lot of knowledge when she told us about their culture etc. Bau is a very caring and kind person who adapted the tour based on our wishes. We were warmly welcomed by her family and felt very safe. The accommodation was very nice and clean. Together we got to help make dinner in the evening which we thought was fun. We got to see beautiful views, walk through nice villages and rice fields. Had two very fun days with a lot of laughter. Recommend everyone to go on a guided trekking tour with Bau!! A memory to take away for the rest of your life!
We did a two-day hike with Bau. Bau speaks fantastic English and is social and very nice and helpful. She is knowledgeable, open and personal, which meant that we got a lot of information about nature and how she and her ethnic group live. We didn't walk on the most common routes. We also stayed at Bau and her family's house (her husband just as nice and helpful) on a "real" homestay where we got to meet her cute children and eat good homemade food. We highly recommend Bau!
If you’re going to Sapa, our absolute tip is: go out with Bau! We spent two unforgettable days with her – a day trekking through the beautiful rice fields and mountain villages, and a day on the scooter through the breathtaking surroundings. What an adventure! Bau is not only a super friendly and cordial guide, she also speaks excellent English and knows an awful lot about the region, the culture and the daily life of the locals. Everything felt authentic, relaxed and perfectly attuned to our pace and interests. Thanks to Bau, we have seen places where you as an ordinary tourist do not go easily. She has really provided a personal and warm experience, which has made our trip to Sapa unforgettable.
Incredible experience with Bau, his family and sister Mu. Despite the fickle weather, we loved spending these two days with Mu and Bau. The exchanges were very enriching, interesting and we learned a lot about their culture, traditions etc. Their level of English is excellent, which facilitates exchanges. The homestay is very well equipped, with hot water and especially.. heating mattresses 😇 If you pass through Sapa, I strongly recommend you book your trek with Bau, she will meet your expectations with enthusiasm!!
Great experience! Bau speaks English very well and introduced me to different villages: y Linh Ho, Lao chải and ta vẫn. I learned a lot about ethnic customs, very interesting! I highly recommend
Amazing family who made me and my friend feel so welcome! Everyone was very nice and cooked incredible food for us too. The trekking was really cool and we got to learn a lot about their culture and the way they live. An educational and unforgettable trip!!
Absolutely fantastic experience! Bau and her sister Mu are incredible! A cozy homestay with incredible service. Missing them already! The hike provided a lot of information and you got to see less touristy roads!
