We had an amazing 2-day, 1-night private family tour in Sapa. Our guide was Dinh’s cousin, who was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome from the very beginning. The trekking through the rice terraces and local villages was breathtaking, and we learned so much about Hmong culture and daily life. Staying with Dinh’s family was a wonderful experience, and the homemade meals were absolutely delicious. The tour was perfectly organized, and we could enjoy everything at our own pace, making it ideal for our family. We highly recommend Dinh Sapa Trekking to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable experience in Sapa!

Itinerary
Day 1
1
Day 1: Sapa – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van (9-11km, ~5.5 hours) • The tour starts at 9:00 AM. I will meet you at your hotel in Sapa Town or in front of the local main church. • After a brief introduction, we’ll leave Sapa and trek down to Y Linh Ho village, passing beautiful landscapes along the way. • We will stop for lunch at a small, traditional restaurant run by a local Hmong family.
• After lunch, we continue to Lao Chai, one of the oldest and largest Hmong villages in the area. Lao Chai Village is a peaceful and picturesque village nestled in the stunning Muong Hoa Valley. Home to the Black Hmong ethnic minority, Lao Chai offers you a chance to experience authentic Hmong culture and breathtaking views of terraced rice fields stretching across the mountains. The village is surrounded by lush green hills, bamboo forests, and winding streams. Here, you can learn about traditional weaving, join in daily activities with local families, and enjoy homestay experiences that bring them closer to the unique way of life in the mountains of northern Vietnam.
• From there, we trek to Ta Van Village, home to the Giay and Hmong ethnic minorities. Depending on the season, you may see locals planting or harvesting rice. Along the way, I will share insights into the cultural differences between ethnic groups. • Upon arriving at my family’s homestay, you’ll have time to rest, take a hot shower, and relax. • In the evening, you can join an informal cooking class with my family to prepare a traditional dinner. • During dinner, I will share my story about supporting 10 local children’s education, and my students will perform a traditional dance to welcome you! You’ll also get to play with the kids, enjoy some fun drinking games with “Happy Water” (local rice wine), and experience an authentic Hmong-style evening
Day 2
2
• Start the morning with a cup of hot coffee or tea while enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the homestay. • After breakfast, we’ll trek through bamboo forests and terraced rice fields, leading to the beautiful waterfalls of Giang Ta Chai. • If you’d like, you can swim in the cool waterfall, a refreshing experience in the middle of nature! • We will then enter the Red Dao ethnic area before making our way to the main road. • Enjoy a final lunch before taking a taxi back to Sapa. • The tour will end between 2:00 - 3:30 PM.
The tour will end at 3-3:30pm at sapa town

Our family had an amazing 2-day, 1-night trekking tour with Dinh Sapa Trekking, and it was the highlight of our trip to Vietnam! We were guided by Dinh’s sister, who was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. She shared so much about Hmong culture and made us feel welcome from the very beginning. The trek through the rice terraces and local villages was absolutely breathtaking. The homestay was cozy, the food was delicious, and the whole experience felt authentic and unforgettable. Everything was well organized, and we always felt safe and well looked after. We highly recommend Dinh Sapa Trekking to anyone looking for a genuine local experience in Sapa. Thank you for giving our family such wonderful memories!
This was one of the best experiences of our trip to Vietnam! The 2-day, 1-night trek was the perfect way to discover the real Sapa. We walked through beautiful rice terraces, visited peaceful local villages, and stayed with a lovely Hmong family. The food was delicious, the homestay was clean and comfortable, and our guide was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We learned so much about Hmong culture and everyday life. The scenery was breathtaking from start to finish. If you’re looking for an authentic experience away from the crowds, I highly recommend this tour!
Unforgettable people, unforgettable place! We feel so lucky to be welcomed and guided by our new friend Mamma Maye. She showed us a lot about the Hmong culture, farming & way of life. Mrs Dinh has created such a great homestay, with beautiful views & comfortable rooms. She started her own school to give the kids future opportunities that they didn't have, so it feels good to have contributed to her dream with this real experience. She is a talented entertainer / host, we smiled & laughed so much it made my face sore. It was sad to say goodbye to our new friends, it's one of the happiest places on earth... must be something in the water up there 😉 Thank you!
We absolutely loved our two day tour with Dinh and her team! We had Do on the first day and Choo on the second day. The tour was definitely an adventure and our guides were fantastic even in the rain! Dinh and her family made us feel so welcome in their home and treated us to a dance performance from her students! This is a very special experience and Dinh is doing an amazing job - definitely our Vietnam highlight.
A tour with any of Dinh’s family members is the best way to spend your time in Sa Pa. She is amazing as is her homestay and what she is doing for her local community. Thank you Dinh!
First off ..... It was just the best experience. This is a must. Dihn has set up an amazing homestay and employs local women to host groups of 9 or 10. You can contact Dihn direct or book through several sites; we used Get Your Guide. Communication was super. We all met at 0900 at Sapa Church. There was about 30 people from 19 to 65 years old. All we reasonably fit. We were asked if we had a preference who to go with. We ended up with a lovely group of Dutch people. Our baggage was transported to the homestay. We kept a small rucksack for layers, mosquito spray and suncream. Our guide was Cha Cha; she was just awesome, positive, engaging, informative and funny. To be fair everyone said the same of their guide. Dihn obviously chooses her guides well. We kept being given the option to take an easy walk, but chose the more challenging route. There were occasional slippery parts but nothing too bad for an average walker. We stopped for food. All included in the price, large portions and very yummy. Local ladies did follow the group but peeled away once they realised we were not buying souvenirs. The homestay was fantastic. Couples were given a room each, groups a doom fire themselves and singles paired up and given a room with twin beds. We helped make spring rolls, which was a fun group activity. The dinner was lovely. Dihn entertained everyone and provided Happy Water (Rice Wine) afterwards. We went to bed early but some of the younger ones partied until midnight, when they were thankfully made to be quiet. The 2 day walk was even better. We finished at 1500 and we were all back and Sapa Church by 1530. Thank you Cha Cha, you made it all so special. I can whole heartily recommend this tour.
This was easily the best part of my 1 month trip in Vietnam! Dinh is an incredible woman with an incredible energy. She’s very knowledgable on the surrounding area and willing to answer all your questions. The tour itself is so beautiful with immense views. Her home stay is clean and cosy and a true pleasure to experience. It was a privilege to hear her story and experience an aspect of her daily life. I hope you will go and try this trekking tour as it was so much more than walking. From the beautiful views, great company, great food, and wonderful stories.
Doing the tour with Dinh was the best choice during my Vietnam travels, it was simply amazing. The homestay rooms are amazing, as well as the food and ambiance in general. Also with booking with Dinh you are supporting the local children to go to school. Hearing their story is simply touching and interesting. The trekking itself is also so beautifull and also great for meeting people. It felt like home, thank you Dinh! Special thanks to Chu and Mu, my guides on my last trek<3
We had the most wonderful trekking adventure and honesty with Dinah (crazy) and her family. They are so hospitable and kind and gave us a fantastic experience of a homestay. The trekking over 2 days was quite challenging but such an experience trekking through the villages and paddy fields. The whole family worked together to ensure the success of the experience and nothing is too much effort. Dinah’s fun, caring, vibrant personality is brilliant and she makes even the hardest hills fun! The food is amazing as well and the family makes you feel very comfortable. I’d highly recommend, best thing we did in Sapa and an experience you’ll never forget!
I enjoyed the 2-day, 1-night trekking tour with Dinh and it was the highlight of my Vietnam trip! We walked through stunning rice terraces, bamboo forests, and peaceful villages — places I would never have found on my own. Dinh shared stories about her culture and life as a Hmong woman, which made the experience truly meaningful. At night, I stayed at her bungalow, which has the most incredible view I’ve ever seen. The room was simple but cozy and clean, and I loved waking up to the mountains and fresh air. In the evening, we had a traditional Hmong dinner with her family — it felt like home. Everything was well organized, and I felt safe and welcomed the entire time. If you’re looking for real local culture, nature, and warm people — this is the tour you should book!
This was the best experience i had in Vietnam! Thank you dinh for opening your home to us and welcoming us to your village, i learned so much from you and the life you’ve live on the hills. You are such an incredibly cool and crazy girl and i really hope i get to see you again someday! The trek is definitely a challenging one, but well worth it! And breaks are taken as often as needed, “you shy, you die!” So speak up when you need to stop for a break. If her 5 year old son can do it, you can too! But everything will be muddy, you’ve been warned!
We stayed one night at Dihn’s homestay and we would have stayed longer if we could. We really enjoyed both days trekking with her and Sein. She is an amazing woman and it was incredible getting to know her ♥️ Good luck with everything you are doing for you, your family and the community.
This tour was great, Dinh looked after us really well and considering we had a big group on the trek (about 20 people) they made sure we was all ok, and had a place to sleep at the home stay. Dinh story was inspiring and she is a very strong women! I also want to mention cha cha, who was also a guide helping the big group, cha Cha was great at giving us lots of information and was always up for a chat, she works very hard looking after her family, doing the trekking and also rice fields- thank you Cha Cha for the tour as well and looking after us!
Amazing expérience!! Dinh is the nicest and funniest person that we ever met despite her chilhood history. She incluses us in her family and we have spend an encredible night with kids that she helps to go to school. I wish that everyone who go to Sapa can cross the way of Dinh and live the 2 days that we had live.
I did the 2 day trek with Dinh and it was amazing! The trek was very fun and the views were amazing. The home stay was gorgeous, definitely my favourite stay in Vietnam. We traveled as a couple and it was a wonderful experience. The hike through the rice paddies and the Hmong villages was incredible, with spectacular landscapes. Dinh's family made us feel at home. I had a great 2-day trekking and an overnight stay at Dinh. As a solo traveller, I felt welcome from the first moment. The homestay was beautiful, clean and surrounded by breathtaking rice terraces. The family was incredibly friendly and really introduced me to Hmong culture. The homemade food was delicious and the atmosphere felt like home. The draw was beautiful and well organized. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic experience in Sapa.
We did the 2-day, 1-night trek and it was an unforgettable experience! The landscapes were magnificent, with superb terraced rice fields and authentic villages. Our guide was very kind, professional, and taught us a lot about the local culture. The overnight stay with the locals was warm, the food was delicious, and we felt like family. The organization was perfect from start to finish. If you are looking for an authentic experience in Sapa, I recommend this excursion 100%!
An absolutely unforgettable experience... without a doubt my two best days in Vietnam in magnificent landscapes, within an exceptional group thanks to the atmosphere created by Dinh and her family. Her story is particularly moving and you will be welcomed perfectly. Dinh is an exceptional person involved in the recognition of women within her community; she created a school to offer young girls in her community the opportunity to study and gain confidence. The homestay is located in the middle of the rice paddies, the view is fantastic, and the hospitality is perfect. Thank you so much for these two days!
We did the two-day trek with the organization of Dinh and that was a great experience. Our guide Chacha has told us a lot about her culture, ethnic minorities and life in the mountains of Sapa. Chacha was incredibly friendly and spoke good English. The trekking itself was adventurous and beautiful. As a group you could choose between an easier or more challenging path, which was very nice. Along the way we had beautiful views over the valley and the rice fields. The homestay was neat and comfortable and the food was very tasty. Thank you so much for this valuable and special experience!
We did the trek 2days 1 night with Dinh sapa trekking, the experience was incredible, we did a walk of a very accessible level. The meals were very hearty and tasty, all surrounded by a team of guides and staff very friendly, funny, and welcoming with little care. All in all, the money goes to an honorable cause to help ethnic minority children access education. I recommend 100%
We booked at the last minute on WhatsApp, without really knowing what to expect... What a nice surprise! Dinh is an amazing, passionate and generous woman who shares her culture and history with all the people she welcomes. We had the chance to make the trek with his sister, just as great! She guided us through the rice fields explaining everything we came across on our way: plants, rice cultivation, fabric dyeing techniques, and much more. In short, two unforgettable days that will remain etched in our memories! 💛 A huge thank you to Dinh and her family for this unique experience! 🙏
Great experience with Dinh and Sue; the scenery is beautiful! Hiking is really accessible to everyone! The homestay is splendid with breathtaking views of the rice terraces. We also had a great evening with children from the village! They are really all very welcoming and Dinh's story is very touching! I recommend +++++
Dinh was super sweet and cozy! Her family was also very sweet, and the homestay was very nice. I would definitely recommend the 2 day trekking!!
